View 1 Replies View RelatedCan a virtual machine be able to access the partition with windows on it? So you can either boot up from the partitioned windows via bootcamp OR access that same partitioned windows through parallels for quick access while on OSX?
View 2 Replies View Relatedam new to the Mac world and just bought the Macbook Pro 13" 2.4GHz. I desperately need to run some Windows applications on the new Mac. Apart from knowing that Bootcamp can only run Windows or Mac at a time and Parallel allows switch between Windows and Mac, can anyone help me to decide which option I should go for please? In particular
View 4 Replies View RelatedI read on a another thread that Parallels has Parallels Bootcamp which allows me to install Parallels using only one Windows license. Would this work also with the OEM version of windows as well? Or is the full version of windows needed too?

No matter which bootcamp driver I try or even Realtek's own vista one nothing works.
I downloaded the bootcamp 2.1 drivers and everything installed correctly , including the realtek ones. All the hardware looks fine in device manager but I dont hear anything out.
Should the default be speakers? It seems that it keeps the driver as microsofts own and it doesnt say anything about realtek. Could that be the problem?
I did not try the microphone jack yet but will in a few minutes.
Even if there is a hack , Im willing to try it. What is the exact audio chipset on this model of macbook pro?
I just got a i7 15" mbp! I definately have to have bootcamp to run my school's testing software, but i want have parallels run the boot camp partition without me making another VM. I would hate to have double loss of space, but I also want to make sure I can use it on both sides that doesn't mess it up!
I had a mac a long time ago and i got it to read the boot camp with parallel but it then corrupted my bootcamp and I've had double images (waste of space since i am now limited to my ssd size too!!).
Does VMWare fusion 3 do this better? before i do it, i want to make sure it's bug free and does not mess up either side!
I just order the new MacBook 15" with the new 2880x1800 Retaina Display.
But I'm gong to run Windows 7 (and 8) on the machine, which have nerver been a problem on my current MacBooks/iMacs. But now I wonder how Windows will handle this resolution?
Windows has a DPI setting that makes everything bigger on a high resolution display. I never used it, and I don't know how well it works. Is that the way to go? Would you change the order to a none retina display, if you were me?

do I simply put the windows 8 disc in my (Early 2011 edition MBP) disc drive when I'm on my windows side and install to that same partition Bootcamp Already wrote? Or do I have to go through Bootcamp again?

Is there any way to get the wireless mighty mouse to work in windows 7 running via bootcamp tried to pair it but no luck.
View 7 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know or have the same problem where pressing the F7, F8, F9 keys (which are previous, stop/pause, and forward) doesn't work in iTunes unless iTunes is the "active" window? I know that in OS X that if i pressed those buttons, it would do it even if I was in another application, but in the Windows 7 version it won't do it if another application is "active." Also, the same applies to the Apple Remote.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to install bootcamp with using Win 7 but I have both 32 bit and 64 bit versions. Am I able to use 64 bit without problem or do I need to stay with the 32 bit version? I am using a iMac (early 2009 model) with 8 GB ram and ATI 4850 HD video 512 MB ram.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 2010 Mac Pro with two HDs - one which has an OSX installation, and one which has a Windows 7 installation (bootcamp). I need to reinstall OSX due to some system troubles and was wondering if I will need to reinstall Windows/Bootcamp all over again? If not, is there anything special I need to do or it will just work after installing OSX?

View 8 Replies View Relatedafter some trouble with Windows 7, I decided to reinstall the hole thing.
- I installed Windows 7 RC 64bit on a empty WD harddrive with the selected AHCI drivers.
- After installing, I updated Windows 7. No trouble after restarting.
- After installing the Bootcamp 3.0 (selected Bootcamp64.exe) my system isn't working fine anymore. I got Bluescreen after 1-2 Minutes Windows running on my monitor with the installed 285 GTX, the installed GT120 in slot two seems to run fine and no blue screen on the other screen.
Saw someone else's response on a post which mentioned Bootcamp 3.0 and how they had got them from Mininova. The thing that intrigued me was that they said it had built in HSF+ support (about time, don't know why this wasn't already a feature of Bootcamp).
So did a search on Mininova and found the torrent. problem was the person who had uploaded it said it worked on Win 7 32 bit but it hadn't been tested on 64 bit, I had this and when I tried to run it encountered problems.
Apple recently replaced my macpro with a newer one and they royally messed up my windows partition so I had to start over. I reinstalled WinXPpro and installed the drivers from the Leopard disc. I have about 20 unknown devices in my hardware panel. Most importantly my wireless and two ethernet jacks aren't working in XP. I tried manually installing drivers for my wireless card, but couldn't find the exact driver (I have the Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.10.38.35)). I also tried running the latest bootcamp 2.1 install as well and that didn't work. If anyone knows where I can get the exact drivers for my wireless card I think I can just connect to windows update and it can handle the rest. I should also mention I've hardwired my computer to the network as well and windows doesn't recognize that either.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know a fix to get Stereo BT headsets to work with Windows 7 Bootcamp? I've tried to get two different headsets to work, Motorola S9 and Altec Backbeats - neither are installing correctly. I am getting a driver failed to install issue on Windows 7. The solution offered is to download the latest Broadcam device drivers, but the application is taking forever to detect my headset. I was hoping that Windows 7 would be an upgrade to BT over Windows XP, but I guess not. I guess I'll need to go back to Fry's and get another version of XP.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhich do you prefer and why? I am going to be running one on the imac I am about to buy. I don't wanna fool with heavy burning on my MacBook, but I will get down to it on iMac. I have pretty much given up on finding a good decryption program for mac.. many headaches later I have decided to run something so I can use my windows programs to back up my dvd's.
When I put windows on mac, in theory I open it up to the same crap windows has viruses/spy-adware etc. What do you use to keep your mac safe and sound when running windows?
So I had Bootcamp installed. I then installed VMware. During setup it automatically detected the Bootcamp partition and things were great. I then deleted Bootcamp for other reasons and have since reinstalled it. I am not sure how to get VM to point at Bootcamp now? It did it automatically last time. I have deleted the physical disk from settings. I just can't figure out how to get back at Bootcamp.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith Leopard's new Disk Utility, can a Bootcamp partition be non-destructively resize? Or is it still necessary to clone the Windows install, redo Bootcamp, and restore Windows?
I found my Bootcamp partition is too small and will need to be resized eventually (or, rather, games are much much larger than I realized ). But I really don't want to reinstall Windows to accomplish this.
Having a VERY strange issue with my new 27" iMac. I've tried installing XP twice now and everything works fine through the installation and after XP boot initially without any Apple drivers. Keyboard (wired) and my Magic Mouse work just fine.
Then I install the Apple drivers and after a restart XP does not recognize and keyboard/mouse. Even if I hook up a standard USB windows keyboard and wired mouse, nothing. Booting into Mac OS everything works fine, but nothing in XP, including safe mode.
I'm having a Left4Dead LAN party this weekend and was thinking of picking up a 24" ACD. I was just curious as to whether it'll still work in windows/bootcamp?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just recently got parallels, and someone else set it up for me. The guy only put 8gb on it, and i really need more. I don't wanna deal with expanding and stuff because its too much trouble for something that I have nothing on anyway. Im wondering how to delete the image file, and then create a new partition. And also, if creating a new partition needs the windows cd again, because i don't have it anymore
View 1 Replies View RelatedI wanna install Windows 7 Ultimate with Parallel Desktop 5, but I have some problems. I don't know if I should install it as x86 or x64 or 32-bit or 64-bit? And also, how many GB ram should I be using for Parallels? I have the basic MBP 13" early 2010.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having some problems with my parallel every time I run windows virtual machine all my mac goes really slow I would like to know how to fix this slowliness haha, I don't know if my mac is the one that don't have the power to run both side by side at a descent speed, or maybe some configurations of the virtual machine i could change to make it run faster?? Here are the specs of my macbook.
Model Name:MacBook
Processor Name:Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed:2.2 GHz
Number Of Processors:1
Total Number Of Cores:2
L2 Cache:4 MB
Memory:1 GB
Bus Speed:800 MHz
This really isn't a bad thing, on my iMac i5 with a the stock configuration configured with 2 cores and 3GB of RAM on Windows 7 Profession 32-bit, my VM boots in 2 seconds; the boot is so fast that it displays the Vista-like scroll instead of the 7 splash screen during boot. Basically I'm curious what's going on here? I'd like to do the same on Mac Pro which takes about a full minute for Windows to load up. The drives on my a Mac Pro about 5x faster than the iMac and I have a 4 processors and 4GB of RAM allocated to Windows... Both are running Parallels 5 for VM and both uses 64GB for the virtual disk.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have windows 7 now installed, but I also have a my old Windows XP Pro as well. I'm curious if I can look it as well? I'd like to see if i can and to compare running cod5 on it.
