View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to see how hot my temps would get at max so I ran handbrake for 30 minutes and Cinebench simultaneously over and over. This room does not have A/C. As soon as Cinebench started running the multi core render for a while the machine was at max temp.
CPU A 157 Fahrenheit Northbridge 126 Fahrenheit
Remember, I set the temps to display in Fahrenheit and not Celsius. So I would assume CPU A was maxed out at 70 Celsius.
Is this okay/normal when pushing the machine to a max temp? And what in the world is the Northbridge temp? It just looked important so I listed it. lol
Also how can you tell the temp of the GPU?
i'm using the early 2009 2.66ghz quad-core and i'm having some strange line-in/microphone issues. i'm trying to connect a microphone and record some stuff in garage band. in system preferences>sound>input, line in is selected. when i speak into the microphone it indicates it is picking up sound because the input-level meter lights up, but i do not hear it through the speakers nor when i try to record in garage band. i can use the same microphone on my friend's early 2009 2.93ghz 24" imac and record and hear the sound, so i am doubtful it is the microphone. i'm not too sure what else to try at this point.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhat is going on? For no apparent reason, this computer decided to start making random "booping" sounds this evening. There is no error, it's not the mail, it even does it when I have my external speakers turned off. Anyone else have this going on? This is the first time it has happened and it's been going on all evening.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHi Folks. Minor problem with the new system...
Here's the situ:
32Gb Boot Camp partition created and installed XP SP2 from original disc.
Inserted Mac Pro DVD to install the driver set (which was Boot Camp 2.1)
Everything working correctly, except the sound - which comes out both the Mac Pro internal speaker and the LEFT channel of my external amplifier.Everything working fine through Mac OS X as expected.
In Windows, I can change the audio out device from Realtek Audio out to the USB audio (which is the Apple Cinema Display speakers) but this is far from ideal for games, which is the only reason I'm installing XP. I have installed XPSP3 since and found a more up to date Realtek HD audio driver for XP, but no change.
Has anyone experienced this? I may try to install XP again, install XPSP3, then install all the drivers manually as required to see if that changes anything.
My brand new MacBook Pro seems to have a problem.
When I am downloading off the internet, I can hear a popping sound every 20 seconds. The sound seems to come from the hard drive.
I recently came across a Mid-2009 15" MBP with 10.6 on it. I couldn't control the audio, but I figured that when I formatted it and put 10.7.3 on, that issue would go away. Unfortunately I was very wrong. I've been investigating the issue and I've tried just about every permissions fix under the sun, and still to no avail. So far, I haven't reinstalled the OS, but I doubt that would work as it was an issue when 10.6 was running, and I did a complete reformat before reinstalling.
Startup chime works fine, and the speakers are recognized in the audio panel as well as the MIDI utility. I just have no control over the sound, and I never have. Plugging in peripherals doesn't work either, this one has really stumped me.
I've changed the root .plist files, and I've tried repairing permissions half a dozen times but still nothing has worked. I'm trying to look for a new angle on this issue, because permissions don't seem to be panning out - unless there's something big that I missed.

I have a Macbook 2009 that wont turn on. When you press the power key you hear the normal boot chime but no picture appears.
The laptop was given to me without any hard drive, so I installed a blank 250GB HDD. The HDD has no OS on it, and I am not sure how it is currently formatted as it is new.
Even when I use an external screen and regardless of whether a HDD is present the macbook does not show any sign of life on the screen or external screen but still chimes.
I know it would be a good idea to boot with restore discs etc, but even if no OS is present surely the screen should still come on and display the gray and apple logo? I did all the resets and holding button configurations on startup, such as reset PRAM.

I just got my Mac Pro today and I installed a 1 TB drive as my main drive, and i've noticed everything I do such as typing this question and moving windows around is extremly laggy.
Do you think it is becauese the install CDs that came with the Mac don't included the 10.5.7 custom driver for the 4870 card? I didn't erase the default 640 HD that came with the MP yet so i'm going to reboot using that drive and see if that changes anything.
i have and aluminum macbook 2.0 but recently i have notice that my trackpad dosent really workS sometimes it wont click when i do it or when i try to drag a windows i have to press it really hard and if i try to drag it only one finger its really hard what should i do?

The left side is good along with the speaker.

This is an odd one, My imac can't seem to recognize my airport card. The airport utility can't recognize any device. The network diagnostics recognize the internet with the green lights but the airport lights are red... My browsers are connecting to the internet and I am receiving email. The airport icon in the menu is blank and when I open the menu it says "Airport:Not configured"

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use a mini display port to HDMI to get the video and i use audio Y cable splitter for the audio.i can get video but not sound. If i disconnect the HDMI cable from the T.V. then i can get sound. If the HDMI cable and the audio cables are connected at the same time i can get video but no sound. I called Sony and according to them there is no setting on the T.V. that would help. My theory is that it's some kind of setting in the imac that prevents it from sending audio and video to the tv at the same time. Unfortunately i have not been able to figure it out.

I've got an Airport Express that, when connected to the existing wireless network, continues to blink an amber light (No IP address, right?).
I've had the Airport Express create its own network, and I can stream music through to it just fine. When I have it join the network my laptop uses, the light just keeps blinking yellow, and I have to hard reset it to be able to get to its configuration again. iTunes never sees it.
After updating to 10.7.3 I have noticed that Disk Utility no longer opens. It pops up into the utility bar for a few seconds, bobs up and down a couple of times, then disappears. The next time I click on Disk Utility I don't even get that much of a response. It just doesn't open. No error report, no pop ups saying that it can't be opened - Nada. I can't use disk utility AT ALL anymore. I've tried Zapping my PRAM, but that's about it.
The other thing I've noticed is that any time I put something into the Trash Bin it automatically tells me that it will delete the item - it doesn't sit in the trash bin like it used to until you manually delete it. The only time I can get it to behave normally is when I am using an external drive and I put something from the external drive into the trash bin.

I have the latest build of Parallels 3.0 (build 5636). I use Windows Vista Basic through the Boot Camp partition. Parallels launches Windows with no problems. However, when I try to boot Windows Vista Basic through Boot Camp, the black screen with the green bar and the Microsoft Corporation copyright appears, and then before it switches to the next screen, I get a split second blue screen of death and then the computer reboots itself. I video taped the incident, but since the blue screen of death scrolls the message onto the screen, the computer rebooted before it could tell me what specific file may be corrupted.
I've already tried the following:
1. Booted the computer with the Windows installation DVD to do a "start up" repair attempt.
2. Created a new virtual machine.
3. Done a system restore to before the new version of Parallels was installed.
There was a time when Parallels froze and I had to "force quit" it. That could have corrupted something with the Boot Camp partition. Could that be the case?
Running win 7 pro 64 and I am getting TV.
