This is an odd one, My imac can't seem to recognize my airport card.The airport utility can't recognize any device. The network diagnostics recognize the internet with the green lights but the airport lights are red... My browsers are connecting to the internet and I am receiving email. The airport icon in the menu is blank and when I open the menu it says "Airport:Not configured"
View 1 RepliesI've got an Airport Express that, when connected to the existing wireless network, continues to blink an amber light (No IP address, right?).
I've had the Airport Express create its own network, and I can stream music through to it just fine. When I have it join the network my laptop uses, the light just keeps blinking yellow, and I have to hard reset it to be able to get to its configuration again. iTunes never sees it.
I bought a new iMac and it connected to AirPort Base Station, internet works fine on it. However, when I connect my MacBook to the wireless network, it doesn't let me go on the internet. I checked the status of the router through AirPort Utility. (Status: Conflicting DHCP Range) I don't know how to fix this.

I have DSL service. I have an iPod Touch and an iPad 1 that I'm trying to connect. I just upgraded both iDevices to iOS5. I've been having trouble keeping an internet connection live for them, but now I can't even get the wi-fi to connect.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just moved houses and stayed using the same internet provider (comcast high speed internet cable modem). I went to the new house and plugged in my macbook pro and it got on to the internet no problem using DHCP and an ethernet connection. Now I went to set up my airport extreme, and I set it using DHCP and tried to connect, and it just sits there when it tries to access a page. I was using in my old house an airport extreme linked to another using WDS so I could extend the range and it worked no problem. I tried on both of them just using DHCP and it doesn't seem to work. I tried doing a hard reset on one and setting it up using the assistant, and still no luck. I even programmed in the values that I get when I use my ethernet connection as a manual setting in the airport, and still no good.
am stumped as I figured DCHP should just work with the airport.. I do not use any domains/other routers yet, and I don't see what the problem should be. I am even getting the same issue when I did this with a linksys router. Is there something I can do to get this to work on the MacBook Pro/a preference to trash?

For some reason, my macbook's wireless internet doesn't work at home. It takes hours to load a simple page if it doesn't time out. The wireless works everywhere but at my house which is frustrating when taking it to apple. Other apple products and computers connect to the home wireless perfectly but not this laptop. Apple suggested a reformat, but it did not help.

1. tried deleting Airport and then re-adding then clicking apply. Worked the very first time I tried this and it has only worked twice since.
2. tried allowing all incoming connections, worked once now problem still persists.
3. Tried re-starting router, this has never worked
4. There was a post about deleting a file, the person said they were instructed by apple care to do this, that didn't work either.
- Seems to only do this when the computer is on sleep mode
- everything else in the house connects fine to the internet
- this problem does not only happen in my house, it happens at coffee shops etc
- sometimes it is able to connect via tethering off my iphone
- this was a problem 2 years ago on this computer, then it was fine for 2 years and now it's back!

I am haveing and issue conencting. The probelm is when an ethernet connection is working Wifi is not, when Wifi is working ethernet is not. The issue is the netowrk control panel says Im always connected through wifi and ethernet 100% of the time but Safari or Firefox will not load a web page. It is strange because in Terminal I can ping any website. I'v restarted the router, the computer, I have even reloaded the OSX Lion. I have al the most up to date definitions. From a little bit of reasearch I see this is a ongoing issue and it is very frustrating. It is not a netowrk issue all my other devices work perfect when connected to wifi. 3 windows machines ipad iphone etc. Is the network card bad on the late 2011 macbooks?

I connected my imac to aiport express and the airport express to my wireless network and to my printer.
The light on the airport express device is green and the computer suggests I am connected to it.
When trying to print, though, i get a message that the printer is off-line, and in addition, the wireless network sometimes drops altogether.
I bought a 27" iMac about two months ago, and recently it's been having trouble connecting to the internet via airport. Sometimes it has no trouble, other times, no matter how many times I put in my WEP password and hit connect, it just gives me the 'connection timeout error'. Basically, our whole household was having internet troubles about a month ago, but they mysteriously stopped for everyone else except me after a week or two. My housemates all have PC's, and are able to connect fine now. I also have a MacBook as well, which also has no trouble picking up the wireless. One of the weird quirks about this problem is that if my MacBook is connected and moved to sit right next to my iMac, I can often get the iMac to connect. And if it drops the connection, I can refresh a page on the MacBook and suddenly the internet works again on my iMac.
And I also discovered that if I move my iMac to the right about 30cms, it sometimes connects. This suggests that maybe I'm out of range for my wireless, but how am I able to connect at other times when the iMac in it's normal place? Anyway, I've ruled out a fault with the wireless itself, because, as I mentioned, every other computer can connect fine. I've also tried going into the system prefs and renewing the DHCP lease, which *sometimes* works, but usually doesn't. It has been connecting fine for about 2 days, but tonight it started acting up again. It's connected now, but it's pretty sporadic and keeps dropping the connection. In case you need to know, it's one of the new 27" iMacs, the usual duo core not the quad core. 4gb memory, etc.
To make a long story short, I moved to my girlfriend's place yesterday and I plugged in my iMac (20" 2.16 Ghz Intel C2D, 2GB RAM, ATI Radeon X1600/256MB VRAM) and I've been trying to connect to the Internet. Now, I couldn't have my iMac plugged directly were the router is located. Back at home, I never had any problems since I had my ethernet cable plugged into my iMac.
So this was my first time trying to connect via wireless or Airport (if that's even the same thing). Basically, I choose the network to log in and typed in the WEP key. I didn't get an error message so I assumed the key was fine. Also, it says that I'm connected to the network I'm on. However, when I try to get on Safari or MSN or something says I'm not connected to the Internet.
My Mom just scored an iPad but doesn't have WiFi at home. She has a 4-5 year old iMac. Can it push out a wifi signal through airport? I went into sys prefs/ sharing/selected "internet sharing" from airport but then my choices are from airport to ethernet or firewire no other option. Hope I don't have to go buy her a router.
View 11 Replies View RelatedSince the latest update of OSX, I'm encountering trouble with my WiFi connection. My old sony laptop has no problem connecting, so I'm guessing the problem must be with the iMac, and not with the network. When I boot the mac, everything is OK, I get connected. But after a while (less then half an hour) it looses connection to internet. In the airport icon appears a " ! ". To get my mac back on the network, I have to reboot it. It's not a signal problem, my mac always finds the network, but it doesn't connect. My password is asked, I'm sure I entered it wright, but it's asked over and over, no connection possible. I tried changing DHCP to a fix IP, deleting the network and reconnect as if it's a new one, and little stuff like that, nothing helps. Only way is to reboot.

However, my Macbook, connected to the same ethernet cord or wireless network, works flawlessly and has no trouble. The iMac will find the wireless network...show full bars...then drop a bar....then another bar, then another, until only the smallest bar is available. It will transfer data but only for a few seconds until it wont work at all. Now the macbook, sitting right next to the imac will show full bars and stay that way. So i tried a ethernet cable to the iMac and it will not even pull up 1 single page, but the same cable connected to my Macbook will work flawlessly.

I have a 20'' Dell display connected to the Display port and the Plasma connected to the mini-DVI port and I'm running snow leopard. When I disconnect the plasma from the min-DVI port all goes back to normal and there is no Airport issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn the studio mixing, trying to connect my iMac (10.5.8) to their Netgear Wireless. Airport sees it fine. But no Internet. My 3GS has Internet thru it just fine.
I had this problem once before with an older iMac, and seem to remember deleting certificates, then renewing DHCP lease. Tried doing the same thing again (just deleted all certificates under Keychain), but still no Internet.
Just installed one of the original airport cards in this machine, and though all indications are that it is working correctly, it doesn't see the USR wireless router sitting 10 feet from it. No networks show up in the dropdown list, and manually adding does nothing. Encryption is a simple MAC filter (this card has already been added), and SSID is broadcast. Did I get a bad card? System profiler seems to think it's fine.
It's an original airport card.
Computer's a G3 400 Mhz iMac.
A G3 300 Mhz iBook with original airport card is having no troubles.
Firmware of Airport card is 9.52
Firware of router is up to date.
OSX 10.3.9

Anyone else have an issue like this? Seems like when I first started using this system I had no problems. I have installed latest drivers.
I have SMCFan going on a higher speed to reduce heating. Done everything I can think of and stilll having issues. Am I missing anything?

Now I can only get to my email through through my Earthlink home page by logging in & etc. (a real pain just to check my email!)
If I try to use the email icon on the iMac dock I get the email line at the top of the screen , but email page does not open. I have to go to menu and click on "In" and the page opens up but does not download any email. Will not send from this location either. When I try to quit email it will not close. I have to force quit it.
Earthlink said to trash their "Total Access" as it won't work with 10.5. So when the iMac was working ok before the transfer of files I must have been using Apples Mail application. How do I get it working again? I looked all over Mail Help and Apple help and nothing seems to work. Safari works ok.
I bought a used iMac from a seller on ebay. Everything works perfect, iSight camera is excellent. I tried recording a video and it worked, when I played it back it had no sound at all. I already tried going to system preferences and changing it to built-in microphone. I also reset the PRAM. I don't know what else to do!!
It has the version 10.6.8 installed, I don't know if that has anything to do with the mic not working.
