I had a wireless keyboard I was working on and had set up a password, the keyboard has broken and is damaged how do I get in the computer?
View 2 RepliesMy one week old iMac 2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5. first started problems by not goping to sleep even when I forced it.
I shut it down using the shut off button and unplugging it from power for more than 5 munites.
I turned it back on, it does the usual startup chime and then gray screen. I have restarted twice from the shot off button and still getting the same result.

why can't i turn down the monitor brightness in target display mode? volume keys and cmd-f2 works as described, but brightness keys do nothing?

Hello everyone, I'm currently looking to buy a 27 inch imac and can't decide whether to get a base i3 27 inch or a refurbished i5 quad core 27 inch. With the i3 I can get the student discount and qualify for the ipod, but the i5 is 23% off right now. Which should I get? Also is there a benefit of getting a 5 series graphics card over a 4 series graphics card?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've got a 27" iMac quad-core i7 running Lion and a Sony VPL-CX5 video projector. The projector is no longer support by Sony and Lion doesn't have an included driver to make it recognize the projector as a display device. I'm trying to find some sort of adaptor that the iMac will recognize as a display that will send a video or s-video (or even vga) signal to the projector.

I just wanted to share what's been going on with my i7 which I received last Friday. Immediately I was curious about what sort of temps I was going to be running so I installed Temperature Monitor. At idle my graphics readings hover around 40C. However, when playing Warcraft 3 my Graphics Processor Temperature Diode reaches up to 84C.
I don't really know what temps are acceptable, I was just wondering what other i7 HD4850s out there are running. To deal with this seemingly high temperature I installed smcFanControl and boosted all fan speeds by 50%. Noise doesn't seem to be proportional to fan speed at these levels so no probs there. Now I run at 64C at load and I am at peace with that.
Shouldn't the OS be increasing fan speed on its own?
Would like to know what you guys think and observe in your i7 machines
After destroying my last german wireless keyboard i bought a new one with english characters and now the f11 and f12 keys do not work in regulating the volume up and down. I have the Mac OS X v 10.5.8.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm using the early 2009 2.66ghz quad-core and i'm having some strange line-in/microphone issues. i'm trying to connect a microphone and record some stuff in garage band. in system preferences>sound>input, line in is selected. when i speak into the microphone it indicates it is picking up sound because the input-level meter lights up, but i do not hear it through the speakers nor when i try to record in garage band. i can use the same microphone on my friend's early 2009 2.93ghz 24" imac and record and hear the sound, so i am doubtful it is the microphone. i'm not too sure what else to try at this point.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi just bought the imac 21.5 inch with ati radeon 4670 and the base spec. after few hours of playing with this new toy. i realise that when you press the shutdown button, it will put the imac to sleep instead of showing the shutdown/restart option that i have on my macbook. Is there any way to make it work like a macbook power button. secondly, whenever my imac wake up after sleeping, the fan will run faster and automatically went to sleep again. this issue just keep repeating itself. i have no choice but to shutdown the imac and boot up again. Thirdly, i try the machine on WoW and i realise that the sound is rather choppy
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a 27" iMac that came with a small wirelss keyboard (without the number pad) and a magic mouse. Two questions:
1) Is there a way to lock the F keys on? I use InDesign a lot and I hate that I have to keep holding the "fn" key down to select F2 (which I have set up to change to the selection tool) or any other F key I have set up as a shortcut.
2) Is there a way to slow down the scrolling speed of the finger method of scrolling? Most of the time I just want to scroll a little bit, not an entire page. I used to use my mouse's scroll wheel and set the speed to slow.

The ivy bridge processors are coming out soon (or may already be out). I have heard that macbook pro 13" models might be able to use the new processers due to their lower energy useage. I presume that I will be able to take my mac to an apple store and have it installed. Is this information true?

The 1 to 9 keys on the top part of my keyboard stopped working.The ` 0 - = keys all work fine. It is a wireless keyboard (model no. A1314) without a number pad on the side. Nothing has been spilled on it. I have tried it on another Mac and it does not work there either.

first, I didn�t know if this thread should be here or in Buying Tips, but anyway. My doubt is about the brand new 27� iMac�s processor, If I should buy a more GHz one, but with only two cores, or should I buy little bit less GHz one, but with four cores.
It really worth pay $200 more? It really worth the four cores? My main needs are run CS4, some Final Cut, maybe Logic Studio, and switch between different OS's (OS X, Windows, and Linux). I think even a 21.5� model would be more than enough, but I just wonder If Quad Core gonna give me more power (I hope so).

I have always been interested in getting a G5, ever since they came out. I might be able to nag a Quad G5 for very cheap, but I have a question. I know that an Intel Core 2 Duo is faster than a G5, but how is it faster than the Quad? What exactly makes the Intel faster than the G5? I am looking at the Apple specs of the Quad and to me, it looks like a really solid computer, especially for 2005.

I have just switched to a 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro and I have a Minolta slide scanner that is connected to the Mac by FireWire 400. Now this Mac no longer has a FireWire 400 connection, only FW 800. Is there a way to still use the scanner, some adapter maybe?

I would like to upgrade the memory on my mac pro to 8gb (4 x 2gb) plus the original 2gb (2 x 1gb) that comes standard for a total of 10gb. I have looked on [URL] and the prices range from $198.99 to $799.99 for 8gb (4 x 2gb) kits. The Omni Technologies Optival is mighty tempting at $198.99 and I see that OWC has 8gb for $269. What do you recommend? Is Optival any good? The reason I an adding 8gb is for multi-tasking video/audio etc.

My CPU fan seems to be running fast a lot on my late 2009 IMac. When I wake my system up in the morning the CPU fan is running at 939rpm. After 20 minutes of surfing I can hear it and it is at 2456rpm. All of the internal temps are around the same.
