I haven't used my mac for a month but it use to work perfectly fine. I tried to use it but it wouldn't turn on. When i plug the magsafe connecter the led goes orange. But when i press the power button it doesn't turn on. i tried smc reset using left shift, control and option (and power button) while charging and not charging but it doesn't work.
View 1 RepliesI purchased a MacBook a couple of days ago and it has been fine. However, today I've realised that the back of it at the bottom is getting really hot, even when the charger is not plugged in. I am not using powerful apps either.Sometimes it can almost be too hot to touch for more than a couple of seconds. This happens on any surface, whether it's on my wooden desk or not.
The back getting hot also heats up the rest of the Mac to some extent. does it need seeing to and if so will I be charged?

I have an early 2008 Macbook and it's been running pretty good up until this afternoon. Now I'm having what is apparently not all that uncommon a problem, where my laptop will only remain turned on for as long as my laptop is plugged in. The second I remove the charger it turns off, and it won't turn back on again until I plug the charger in again. I had bought a replacement battery not all that long ago so I'm not sure if that would be the issue. It could be related that last night I installed more RAM into my laptop. I say could be because I was using the laptop NOT plugged in for the rest of the night and most of the this morning without any problems. It wasn't until this afternoon when I started using my laptop again that the problem arose. Could this be a delayed reaction to the RAM installation or is it just a coincidence and there's a problem with my battery?Â

My daughter said she left her mac pro on the charger before school.  She came home and mac will not turn on and no green light on charger. Not sure if there is something that I can do to test it before buying new charger.

My Macbook Pro's charger when I plug it in turns on (green light then orange light) and after a few seconds it turns off and back on again. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in after several seconds and I also tried different power outlets but it still doesn't work properly, I even tried restarting the SMC (Not sure if I did it right though). I let my new mbp(mid 2012) battery run down. It was on, I walked away for one minute and came back and the mbp was shut down. I plugged in charger and the mbp won't turn on at all. I got it on Tuesday so it is brand new.

2. Is it possible to close the MBP and use an external keyboard while using two external displays?

I was launching my sims game when I plugged in my portable charger in my MacBook Pro. As soon as I plugged it in, I heard a tiny poof and next thing I know the screen turned black. View 1 Replies View RelatedFinally took the plunge tonight and installed Windows 7 on a partition on my new Retina MBP. Everything's beautiful, runs fine... after playing around in native 2880x1800 for a while, I decided to see how this gorgeous screen would look at exactly 1/2 its native resolution. Open display properties... screen resolution... There is no option in either the windows native resolution pane or the nVidia Control Center to switch resolution to exactly 1440x900. Closest is 1600x900, which of course is the wrong aspect ratio.Â
I kept running games in OS X at 1440x900 and it would render all interpolated and blurry, and I thought that was simply Apple's funky scaling for the Retina display... but something's seriously wrong if I can't run a 2880x1800 screen at 1440x900. Of course, I can always define a custom resolution, but I'm scared to do that... I have no idea why 1440x900 isn't an option and I don't want to experiment on my brand new $2,200 toy.Â

I select my desktop picture, and it puts it as it. But once I shut my computer off and turn it back on, it's back to the Lion desktop picture. But when I go into the system preferences, it says that my picture is the one that I selected before.

I have some issue with my 2012 Macbook Pro Retina. The screen intermittently decides to just not work. Sometimes on startup i hear the start up noise but the screen doesn't turn on. I am able to remote into the computer when the screen doesn't work. I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason as to when it works and when it doesn't. I've reset the PRAM and SMC sometimes that will bring the screen back sometimes not. Â

I have had my MacBook (aluminum) for 6 days, and all of a sudden i go to plug it in to charge (10% left) and the led on the magsafe doesn't come on and the computer doesn't recorgnize the charger (even in system profiler).
upon closer inspection i noticed the LED is on on the magsafe, it is just a very faint shade of green.I have tried a charger from a different MacBook but no luck. And i have also tried my charger and a different macbook and it charged it just fine.. so it's probably not my charger.
Any ideas?? i know i can go get it replaced.. but i would really like to not have to take a 45 minute drive to the apple store if i can avoid it.. (unless this problem is serious and should be replaced) also, if i get a replacement is it possible for them to just swap my HDD with the new one?
I have seen people all over the internet saying that their MBP monitor would not turn on, but I have not seen my situation before. I used the computer a week ago (it's a work machine and I'm a part time intern) and both the external and internal monitor worked. I shut it down and when I came back the computer booted up to the external monitor but gave no video on the internal.
I shut down, removed the external monitor (connected by DVI cable) and rebooted. Nothing came up but when I connected the external again it worked fine. This had happened before, but when I shut down and rebooted without the cable connected it came back on immediately. I'm just hoping its not a bad graphics card or something that needs to go in for warranty.
i have and aluminum macbook 2.0 but recently i have notice that my trackpad dosent really workS sometimes it wont click when i do it or when i try to drag a windows i have to press it really hard and if i try to drag it only one finger its really hard what should i do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter updating to 10.7.3 I have noticed that Disk Utility no longer opens. It pops up into the utility bar for a few seconds, bobs up and down a couple of times, then disappears. The next time I click on Disk Utility I don't even get that much of a response. It just doesn't open. No error report, no pop ups saying that it can't be opened - Nada. I can't use disk utility AT ALL anymore. I've tried Zapping my PRAM, but that's about it.Â
The other thing I've noticed is that any time I put something into the Trash Bin it automatically tells me that it will delete the item - it doesn't sit in the trash bin like it used to until you manually delete it. The only time I can get it to behave normally is when I am using an external drive and I put something from the external drive into the trash bin.

My MacBook Air was purchased in September 2011 and I've really enjoyed this computer. The complaint I have is that it wouldn't turn on about two weeks ago. I had to bring it to an Apple Store and the logic board was replaced. The service was good and it was a one day turn around time. Now the computer is down again with the same symptoms and I've tried the recommended procedures to try to turn it on without any luck.

My laptop was fully charged and it went to sleep. About an hour later, it's as if it is dead. The screen is black. I can't even turn it on. None of the lights are on. I plugged in my 2 old! charger and it won't been light up. I have had no problems with this charger and have tried different outlets.
