Mac Pro :: System Freezes For Few Seconds / Strange Blue Screen With Flashes Appear
Oct 5, 2008On my 1st Gen Mac Pro, I suddenly get a strange blue screen out of no where. Everything on the screen freezes for a few seconds then the screen flashes blue for another few seconds. After the screen comes back from the blue, everything works perfectly again. Even when listening to music, music pauses for a few seconds and then comes back. This happens a couple times a week and its getting on my nerves. Sometimes it lasts for a long time and requires a hard restart.
I have tried reinstalling Leopard/tried hardware test/upgraded to the 8800GT video card and the 3870/I cleaned the whole inside of the box with compressed air. I even took her into the apple store and had a genius look at it over night. They told me everything is working perfectly. Ofcourse it started doing it again after I got home with it. The apple store suggested that I could always replace the logic board but they want over $1000.00 for that and I dont know if its worth it.
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Wallpaper Flashes And Windows Expand Whenever ITunes Changes Track
Jun 22, 2012basically my wallpaper image flashes and any windows I have minimized to the Dock expand whenever iTunes changes tracks. It's not a huge problem, but it can be a bit of a pain (there, it just happened again, I had to minize stuff in order to get back to this window).
P.S.: I listed the topic under Lion because it never happened before I upgraded to it.

Sep 28, 2009Hey just wanted to ask if it is possible that my late08 mbp which runs under WIN7 home premium is getting too hot while playing? Just played about 15 mins when my screen (aion)ingame froze (but sound + mouse didnt) and a few seconds later i've heard skype shutting down - and a few seconds later everything started to shutdown -> bam bluescreen for about 1 sec -> restart O_o happened now 3 times in an hour..

Jul 1, 2010i have had problems with my iMac, whenever i play the my game on Java, it crashes, yesterday it started out slow, happened like every 2 hours, but right now, when i get the error, only option to pull the plug, and then restart, and i open the game again and it happens within 5 mins, i made a video of what it looks like on youtube.(Btw, its lower half of the screen black, and the top is flickering)
I cant do anything anymore, i can pause the music by keyboard, which i couldnt do before on the older crashes from yesterday strange enough, and i can move the mouse, but i cant click anything or w/e.Cmd - alt - esc doesnt work either

Apr 8, 2009Recently I bought Europa Universalis III for Windows, to play on my MacBook. I have partitioned my hard drive for Windows XP. My specs are: 2,4 GHz, 2GB RAM, Intel GMA X3100 graphics card.
The problem is that when the intro has started, it is choppy. About halfway in the intro it just crashes out to desktop. I am way above game requirements, so why does the game not start properly?
Or more generally, do the requirements change on the PC version, compared to the Mac version?

Anyway these is an issue, when I play a game on Windows it crashes the machine, the screen goes blank (I have a Dell monitor and it powers down) and I have to restart the machine. The audio crashes (if I am in a racing game the engine note stays constant).

Feb 18, 2010I've recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and decided to use boot camp to reinstall XP on a secondary partition. The problem I'm having is with getting some programs notably Trillian and Steam to keep their connection. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I am in university halls of residence so I have had to set up some port forwarding to get Steam to connect at all but it's always tantalisingly out of reach.
Steam for example sometimes loads fine but then won't load a game it brings up the 'Game is unavailable' error. Sometimes I can get into team fortress 2 but can't locate any servers, sometimes I can get a server list to populate but cant load the game. Sometimes it doesn't even load Steam at all and fails on the updating step. Trillian has similar problems, sometimes dropping the connection and sometimes running perfectly fine. At first I though this was a firewall issue due to the ports but after I managed to get each step to work at different times, just never together, I began to doubt that.

Mar 9, 2008I installed Windows Vista, and Vista boots up fine. However, I hold down the command keys when starting my computer up again, and it won't let me select Mac OS X. It just starts Vista.
On "My Computer" in Vista I see "Bootcamp (C" and "Macintosh HD (E in my Hard Disks Drives. Also, whenever I start up Vista it tells me something about a wrongly formatted drive. My files are still all in the Mactintosh HD drive, but I don't know how to start up Mac OS X.

Mar 2, 2008It happened twice in a row about a week ago (and then stopped, so I figured I'd let it go), but it just happened again right now, so I'm figuring there's got to be something else going on. My only guess would be the battery... but I just had that replaced a few months ago, so it seems kind of odd to be having problems already. If it is the battery, how severe of a problem would this be? Is there something I could do to fix it, or can I just live with it until the end of the school year... or do I need to have this fixed ASAP? (And on the off chance that this is a related problem, my speakers have been making that funny crackling/static sound when I wake the computer up from sleep... I was reading some threads about that around here, but to the best of my knowledge the problem was never really resolved.)

May 2, 2012i am using a MacBookPro, my main use is to make websites that display correctly on iPad/iPhone and Larger screens, to see if i am doing OK i regularly resize my SAFARI Browser window.Today i am dissappointed to see that when i resize my browser window narrower or wider the display flashes continuosly, it hasnt been like this before, does your display do this ?.What do you think i should do, is there some LOG file i can get hold of to show to the Apple Techies, or some tests i can carry out ?it hasnnt done this before.

Windows On Mac :: Parallels Windows And 2GB On Same System
Mar 16, 2009memory, the reasons for why I'm planning an upgrade is because of the Parallels. The start up of Windows is not as fast as I want as it blocks all others application for a couple of moments, then it works pretty well on programs that dont require much memory. If it would make a significant difference I would upgrade to 4GB.The problem: I believe my Mac has 2*1GB memories, making it hard to upgrade to lets say 4GB, even if I buy a 2GB, (hope its working mounting different sizes in the the slots), still makes me sell the other 1GB left free, waste of time or money. Is there un upgrade solution or how could I do it to have 2* 2GB ?
