Okay, well I am about to buy a PC game which is very much like 'The Sims' but is actually Desperate Housewives - The Game. I have three macs, two of which are intel-based. If I wanted to play this game on my Macbook what would I need to do? Install anything? Has anyone done anything similar?
Hey just wanted to ask if it is possible that my late08 mbp which runs under WIN7 home premium is getting too hot while playing? Just played about 15 mins when my screen (aion)ingame froze (but sound + mouse didnt) and a few seconds later i've heard skype shutting down - and a few seconds later everything started to shutdown -> bam bluescreen for about 1 sec -> restart O_o happened now 3 times in an hour..
Would gaming work better in XP or Windows 7 (for macbook pro)? I just bought the newsest macbook pro 13'' and I like playing starcraft 2 the game in windows. Should I be using windows XP or Windows 7 for maximum performance?
Recently I bought Europa Universalis III for Windows, to play on my MacBook. I have partitioned my hard drive for Windows XP. My specs are: 2,4 GHz, 2GB RAM, Intel GMA X3100 graphics card.
The problem is that when the intro has started, it is choppy. About halfway in the intro it just crashes out to desktop. I am way above game requirements, so why does the game not start properly?
Or more generally, do the requirements change on the PC version, compared to the Mac version?
Can someone recommend me a good controller to use in bootcamp that is known to 100% work w/ bootcamp and all recent games? Looking to spend $20-$30, but I'll spend more if it insures quality. I have a fairly old logitech dual action controller and apparently it is no longer compatible with any new games.
I have installed Windows 7 on my Mac Pro using Bootcamp and I am pretty impressed with Windows 7. Anyway these is an issue, when I play a game on Windows it crashes the machine, the screen goes blank (I have a Dell monitor and it powers down) and I have to restart the machine. The audio crashes (if I am in a racing game the engine note stays constant).
Since I am a very hardcore gamer, I need to be able to travel to LANs with something light so i gave the a try, WOW this little thing can do a lot. I'm only having one tiny bit problem, I don't know how to play my games on 4:3(blackbars)and i CAN NOT game on widescreen(16:9 16:10) because its soo weird and I have the late 08 version with ATI 2600 XT. My question is how do i change the screen scaling on windows.
i just bought the game Spore and i am having troubles with it. 1st after i download the cd an update pops up for the game back to back to back to etc. and its the same update. Then when i run the game everything works fine (the begining cut scenes) but when the game is about to start it cuts off and an error popup comes up.
I've recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and decided to use boot camp to reinstall XP on a secondary partition. The problem I'm having is with getting some programs notably Trillian and Steam to keep their connection. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I am in university halls of residence so I have had to set up some port forwarding to get Steam to connect at all but it's always tantalisingly out of reach.
Steam for example sometimes loads fine but then won't load a game it brings up the 'Game is unavailable' error. Sometimes I can get into team fortress 2 but can't locate any servers, sometimes I can get a server list to populate but cant load the game. Sometimes it doesn't even load Steam at all and fails on the updating step. Trillian has similar problems, sometimes dropping the connection and sometimes running perfectly fine. At first I though this was a firewall issue due to the ports but after I managed to get each step to work at different times, just never together, I began to doubt that.
How good is the realistic battery life of the base MacBook White 2009 for both playing a game on Windows Boot Camp and just browsing the internet over WiFi?
I've just downloaded a game that requires x11 (freeciv). since I am running 10.4.11, I also had to download and install x11. I managed that, but now I am confused as to how to get the game to run. can someone explain to me in straightforward terms how to open the game. I've tried just clicking on it, but it shuts down straight away.
I have a MBP with Snow Leopard and I cant figure out how to take screenshots in a game (Starcraft 2). I've tried both command+shift+3 and 4 but they don't seem to work, normally it saves a picture on my desktop but when I do this in a game nothing happens.
i have a new imac OSX 10.6 and wish to play Tomb Raider. when i put in the CD a box appears stating that the classic environment is no longer supported. Can anyone give ma a solution? I tries to go to sheepshaver but I don't understand the instructions, as I don't have a degree in computers.
I'm not really a heavy gamer or anything, but I'm planning a few long flights in the coming weeks and considering getting some 'entertainment' in advance for use on the flight. As I've seen mixed reviews of games on the Air so far, I'm wondering if anyone can post games that they've used on the Air that perform reasonably well and are worth getting.
I have finaly got my 2 3870's but I haven't had time to install it, and am on a trip at the moment, someone told me that if you run 2 3870's in crysis it doesn't make a difference.Has any one tried to run crossfire in crysis yet?
Also do you have to download a program to start crossfire or does it just work?
I just bought a windows dvd game of Toca 3, and my iMac superdrive won't load it. The drive will try and spin up, make a groaning noise a couple of times, then eject the disk. I have tried the same disk in a friends MacBook Pro, and 2 friends PCs and there drives read the disk perfectly. I have tried the disk in both windows and mac, and neither will read the disk. I have also tried cleaning the disk. My iMac is a 2.4ghz Aluminium 20incher... any help would be much appreciated, as i am currently having to use my friends MacBook Pro (unibody) to play the game and he is getting a little anoyed!!
I have a whitebook, 64 mg intel gma950 chipset, and 2gb ram. XP is running on bootcamp and I was wondering if I could play the game "DJ Max Trilogy" before I bought it. According to the specs you need at least a Geofre 5700 which I think is 128 mb. Anyways, I've bought a few other games off of play-asia that had those same specs, but ran perfectly on my macbook. Can anyone confirm if this game will also work?
I just got the Homeworld 2 game for my macbook, and installed it without issue. However, when I tried to run it I got an "unexpected error". I then tried to restart my computer, but now it will not turn on fully (I get a grey screen).
I checked the system requirements on the box and found that my macbook surpassed each one greatly. How do I 1. get my mac to actually turn on fully now (yes, I tried turning it on in safe mode by holding the power button), and 2. get Homeworld 2 to run on mac.
MacBook pro 2,8 with Nvidia 9600 512, 4 gb ram and OS 10.6
I'm trying to learn how to install games on this OS.. (i must add that the games i'm trying to install are downloaded and cracked).. i have had to install parallel and install my version on win7 so that i can use the office 2007 (to write equations and so on)
The main question is.. Can i play games by installing them in Win7 and play them through parallel? Or is there a special way where i can play games on Snow leopard without using parallel? (besides from the obivious answer, "buy mac games")
I recently bought Fallout 3 for the computer. It says that it is a "Games for Windows" game but I need to run it on my Mac (specs are in my signature). I have the newest version of VMware Windows XP and when I put the game in it automatically opens it up. When I try to play the game it works for the menu but the screen goes black when I click start and after a few seconds it goes back to the desktop. I have not done anything with boot camp assistant if that is important.
I am having issues (again) with my superdrive..it keeps spitting out DVD's and CD's...I have a game that I always play and was hoping I could find a way to play it without having to put the DVD in the computer. It says I need to insert the DVD to play the game but is there any program out there that will let me 'mount' the DVD permanently on the computer so that I don't need to have the DVD in my Macbook Pro? It's just a pain that I keep having to insert the DVD 5 times before the computer accepts it (plus I don't really always want to have to carry the DVD around with me whereever I go.
I canceled my cable. My wife and I use iTunes subscriptions and netflix to watch tv and the free ota channels. I have a appletv and I plan on selling it and buying a new Mac mini to hook up to my plasma for the upcoming NFL season. I was planning on using the NFL game access option and getting video and audio.
I have a USB controller and it only works sometimes. Yesterday it was working perfectly, no problems. Today I try and my mac just isn't detecting it. I've tried all the USB ports and nothing changes.
I have a game I bought on eBay "Putt-Putt Saves the zoo" for my babysister. I use to play it when I was a kid and loved it. i want her to play it as well. On the CD it says its only compatible for Windows 31, Windows 95 and Macintosh. i have a PowerMac G5 and I really want to have my sister play it.
I was thinking of buying VM Ware maybe it would work that way but I still dont know if it will play on something over advanced for it. What program can I buy to Play this OLD cd?
