Windows On Mac :: Video Game Controller - Use With Bootcamp
Jun 3, 2009
Can someone recommend me a good controller to use in bootcamp that is known to 100% work w/ bootcamp and all recent games? Looking to spend $20-$30, but I'll spend more if it insures quality. I have a fairly old logitech dual action controller and apparently it is no longer compatible with any new games.

I have a USB controller and it only works sometimes. Yesterday it was working perfectly, no problems. Today I try and my mac just isn't detecting it. I've tried all the USB ports and nothing changes.

I'm a long-time Mac owner (this is my 4th) but new to Mac forums. I'm making the transition from playing action type games on a console system to playing games on my Mac (Madden, Call of Duty, etc). It sucks playing them without some kind of controller and I am looking hard at what's out there.
I have a MacBook Pro, 17", 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 processor, and 8 GB 1067MHz DDR3 memory.
So what are the best controllers that are currently available? Or would I be better served to wait a couple of months for something due out any time? I don't want to wait forever and I know that there will always be something better coming out, but if there is something revolutionary coming soon, I'd wait.

My macbook is the new 2008 series with 2 gb of RAM, the Nvidia Geforce 9400m, and Intel processor with 2.4 ghz. I check on srtest.com and I am supposedly able to run games like Crysis very well. Yet, when I launch the new Warhammer: Dawn of War II game, I am at a loss. I can only run the gme on the very lowest settings at the lowest resolution in order to run without lag. Also, for some reason my bootcamp partition says I have only 1.72 gb of RAM. I have a feeling the partition is just not recognizing the power I have.

I've pulled every card out of my system and tested one by one and whenever I have the Quadro4800 card in the MacPro I get a 4VDC/Video controller error in the apple hardware test. I'm using the card as a GPU only in a Davinci Resolve environment. Is this normal?

After a series of events with my MBPro's screen going weird purple/magenta color intermittently and making text all but illegible, I ran the AHT (Apple Hardware Test).
This returned an error stating there was a problem with the video controller:
"4VDC/1/40000003:Video Controller"
The machine's about 3 years old.

I've been playing Starcraft 2. I played first in Leopard but the performance was no good unless graphics were set to low. Even then, it was only just playable. So I switched to XP. Gameplay on medium graphics is great in XP. I've noticed that even though my Macbbok Pro is plugged in to the wall, it drains the battery. Last night I played so long that the computer shut down after the battery ran out of juice.
Specs: Macbook Pro 2.4, 256MB 9600GT, 2GB of ram (I have 4GB coming in the mail.) Leopard fully updated. Windows XP fully updated. I am plugged into the wall, not a surge protector.

Can I install a Raid Controller and connect say two drives to it, specially for windows? Will it be bootable? Or perhaps even connect the iPass of the four internal bays to an Adaptec 5405 and get a separate cable for my Mac Drive. Will both be bootable? What if I just want to boot Windows for now? I sometimes need to convert my early 2008 Mac Pro into a rather beefy Windows workstation and the lack of HW Raid is rather irritating.

Recently I bought Europa Universalis III for Windows, to play on my MacBook. I have partitioned my hard drive for Windows XP. My specs are: 2,4 GHz, 2GB RAM, Intel GMA X3100 graphics card.
The problem is that when the intro has started, it is choppy. About halfway in the intro it just crashes out to desktop. I am way above game requirements, so why does the game not start properly?
Or more generally, do the requirements change on the PC version, compared to the Mac version?

I have installed Windows 7 on my Mac Pro using Bootcamp and I am pretty impressed with Windows 7. Anyway these is an issue, when I play a game on Windows it crashes the machine, the screen goes blank (I have a Dell monitor and it powers down) and I have to restart the machine. The audio crashes (if I am in a racing game the engine note stays constant).

Used migration assistant to move my Blackbook apps and settings to the Air using a Time Machine backup from my Time Capsule - wirelessly. Two hours later (not terrible) and I'm using my Air with all my apps and setting - fantastic.
Question: My Blackbook also has a Bootcamp partition running Windows - is there a way to take that image and migrate it to my MB Air? I'd rather not have to purchase the Superdrive and re-install/setup the Windows OS on my Air....
