View 2 RepliesOur eMac seems to be developing a green tint in the bottom right hand corner of its screen. I've done some quick searching online and it seems that a few people have suggested a cold boot so it runs the degaussing process on a startup.
I left the eMac off for about an hour, unplugged. It did the degauss once it was plugged back in and "seems" to have removed nearly all of the green tint.
There are a few threads on various forums when I search on Google about this issue but they have no conclusive reasons why this is happening.
Could my eMac be developing a fault at all? I'm not too sure if anything magnetic has been placed on our table near the eMac so this may be the reason.
My emac screen was working fine. then suddenly the screen image seemed to wiggle as if there was a power problem. I was able to shut off the emac properly using the shut down drop down menu before things could get worse.
But when I restart, the computer seems to turn on fine but the screen remains dark.
i bought a mini vga to vga for my emac and am about to buy a monitor and i hear the ppcs can only mirror. so i know about the screen spanning doctor and think im going to use that, does anyone have the most current ones link as i cant find it and it works with leopard.
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy next computer purchase will probably be a MacBook (or MacBook Pro) but I obviously want to be able to plug it into a better screen when I'm at my desk. I was wondering if anyone knows if it would be possible to use my current eMac as this screen?
I have heard that in the early iMacs the monitor was connected internally with a normal monitor lead - so you could open it up and connect a longer one. Does anyone know if this would be the case with an eMac?
Or any other way I might be able to do this?
I have managed to scrounge a 2nd generation emac from college that has a faulty screen, the screen is totally unusable. i have seen the mod explaining how to remove the crt and put an lcd screen in there but to be honest i cant be botherd. all i want to do is run a standard lcd monitor externally from the mini dvi port (aquired cable from college also ) just wonderd if there was a way of disabling/ switching it off to save on power.
Also what version os would you reccomend running on this emac?
When I press the power button on my eMac, it takes extra long on the gray screen with the Apple logo and the spinning gif, then takes about two minutes on the blue screen with just the spinning gif, then goes to a solid blue background, with a functional cursor, but no OSX. I've tried trying to eject the CD tray at all points in the startup process to put in the Mac OSX re-install discs, but it doesn't respond. What should I try before sending it in to an Apple store or Cupertino?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am a high school teacher and in my lab, for the first time, I have an eMac (1 GHz G4), that, when I turn it on, all that shows is a grey screen with an apple in the middle. I tried doing a "mac-boot" to no avail.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed "SwitchResX" (stupidly - IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of! ) and now two of the default eMac screen resolutions are missing in:
System Preferences >> Displays:
Please someone, tell me how to rid myself of this crappy software, and also how to get back my default resolutions in SysPrefs - I am losing my mind here!.
Greetings and saluations everyone. I've recently delved into the OSX world via secondhand eMac. The specs are eMac (2006 - not a typo... this is what it says)/1.42gHz/80GB HDD/1GB ram/etc. It came equipped with 10.4.6, did an update to the software and it brought the machine to 10.4.11.
After a week or so of tinkering, I think I have accidentally deleted some very necessary system files. Given that the computer did not come with any manuals or recovery discs, I've been doing some major digging over the last three days via internet and can not come up with a fix for my new love. I saw this post on MacRumors and it nearly is exactly what I'm experiencing: Mac chimes upon pressing of start button, goes to greyish screen with grey Apple logo and a spinning progress indicator then the computer goes silent (no HDD/CD activity)... yet keeps the active grey screen.
I've tried booting into safe mode but to no avail which leads me to think I've accidentally deleted some extremely necessary boot files. However, I do not remember emptying the trash during the last successful boot... is there a way from a command line prompt to "put the files back" to where they go?
I've downloaded several Mac OSX Leopard torrents but can't get them to boot off of USB drive, DVD RW external drive, external USB hard drive nor via OSX 9 CD ... Indeed, I am trying to burn from windows but have learned of several utilities which create ISOs in Mac Format and will decompress DMG files (ISOBuster & TransMac).
Please... will someone give me some good news? For example, telling me there is a way to boot from USB drive (and in what format the mac needs to boot - ISO? DMG? Expanded file system in appropriate directory folders? I don't care about wiping the hard drive... that's absolutely fine... I just need a working system again.
there are two things that the macbook is doing to me. one is that sometimes when i move the screen up or down (the hinge is rather stiff) a white (thin) line flashes across the screen. but recently, while randomly browsing through the internet, the screen almost... i guess faded to a gray screen, but like gradually, and not like a kernel error, like the display just faded away. happened twice in a row, did a battery pull and now wont do it again.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi have an iBook g4 that just flashes different colours when turned on. What would be the issue & can it be fixed?
View 8 Replies View RelatedIt happened twice in a row about a week ago (and then stopped, so I figured I'd let it go), but it just happened again right now, so I'm figuring there's got to be something else going on. My only guess would be the battery... but I just had that replaced a few months ago, so it seems kind of odd to be having problems already. If it is the battery, how severe of a problem would this be? Is there something I could do to fix it, or can I just live with it until the end of the school year... or do I need to have this fixed ASAP? (And on the off chance that this is a related problem, my speakers have been making that funny crackling/static sound when I wake the computer up from sleep... I was reading some threads about that around here, but to the best of my knowledge the problem was never really resolved.)

My Macbook is brand new! (Barely 4 months old) Just recently my laptop will flash a black screen. It starts from the bottom and quickly flashes up the screen higher and higher each flash! i have read on some other pages it is a bad inverter on the inner core of the Macbook. Other than that I do not know what to do!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just hooked up a 2nd monitor to my early '08 Mac Pro and when in OSX the screens start to go blank/blue for about 1 second intervals. They flash together sometimes, and other times sort of independantly to each other. When the desktop comes back on it fades in like its animated rather than like its cutting in and out.
It seems fine when I disconnect one monitor.Running 10.5.2 all updates 8 core 2.8ghz with 10gb ram and 8800GT
So I have a MacBook circa 2007, running Lion (10.7.3). Over the past day or so it has develeoped a problem where upon opening it, the screen will come on for a moment, then go dark. Nothing will respond - it's unclear whether it's completely off or it's like the brightness is turned all the way down and I can't turn it back up. I have to force shut down with the power button, then turn it back on again. Typically once I log in nothing will load, so I have to force shutdown and start up again, at which point I'll get a dialog saying "You shut down your computer because of a problem. Would you like to reopen applications," or something to that effect. I choose no, and everything is back to normal (at least until I take a chance with closing it and opening it back up again).

On my 1st Gen Mac Pro, I suddenly get a strange blue screen out of no where. Everything on the screen freezes for a few seconds then the screen flashes blue for another few seconds. After the screen comes back from the blue, everything works perfectly again. Even when listening to music, music pauses for a few seconds and then comes back. This happens a couple times a week and its getting on my nerves. Sometimes it lasts for a long time and requires a hard restart.
I have tried reinstalling Leopard/tried hardware test/upgraded to the 8800GT video card and the 3870/I cleaned the whole inside of the box with compressed air. I even took her into the apple store and had a genius look at it over night. They told me everything is working perfectly. Ofcourse it started doing it again after I got home with it. The apple store suggested that I could always replace the logic board but they want over $1000.00 for that and I dont know if its worth it.
My screen will flash pink with a yellow apple icon just after the spinning gears has stopped when I start up.

During the boot-sequence the screen of my Imac 27" flashes green (once), then returns to normal. This does not happen when I boot my Windows (Bootcamp) partition, so I assume this is some kind of OSX driver error. This started to happen only after I installed the latest patch (10.9.3). How to get rid of it ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIm purchasing an eMac in a couple days, but am a little confused about performance. Its a 1 GHZ PowerPC G4 with 256MB of Ram but my last pc blew up (literaly) However the 1GB of RAM that was in still works and will fit in it.
Besides that my Questions pertain to Leopard and Time Machine. I Know that Leopard will run on this Mac, But what about performance? and I heard that the eMacs cant experience the i candy Time Machine offers.
How So? is it true? I really want the Ability to use Time Machine. (Right now i'm just using Genie Timeline for my Windows 7 PC)
