With some minor exceptions, primarily for game playing for a few years in the late 90s, I haven't used Windows, well, basically ever (ok, I used DOS some until the mid-90s), mostly using various forms of Unix/Linux and Mac OS X. I have never purchased a Microsoft product directly (I've obtained licenses indirectly though).

1. i downloaded microsoft office for mac 2008. (pirated)
2. i recently purchased a legit copy of microsoft office for mac 2008
when i uninstall the pirated version
- i drag the application from the source to "app zapper"
- i find all the microsoft files and folders and i trash them
- i finally empty trash
When i try to install the LEGIT version, it installs no problem but never asks me to input the serial of the Legit serial key. and when i connect to my network when office is open it say's "blah blah this office is already registered to xxx blah blah" this is because there was myself and this other guy using the same serial from the pirated version and it never lets us use office at the same time. anyways, now that i have a legit (never been used, brand new) serial... i can't even use it...(ie. it doesn't tell me to input the legit serial)

I am not near any physical apple dealers, I drove 2 hours today to buy one from a classified and it was for a 13 inch not a 15 inch, I am so upset. and today was the only day I had to find it.
I have to buy the code so I can do it online. I was going to buy it from one of the sellers on ebay but I read how there are scams out there. Can anyone recommend a legit seller who they have purchased apple care from and had no issues. I called apple and tried to buy the code but they have to ship it and it won't make it in time and there is no grace period.

I'm trying to reuse an old imac (800 mhz G4 PPC 512 mb). It has 10.3.9 installed. I had hoped to install Leopard so I could use its built-in parental controls. Unfortunately the machine is 67 mhz too slow, and Leopard won't install. Anyone have ideas about how to obtain the same type of parental controls (auto logout at a certain time, no access during specified hours, etc) with a software solution?

I have a PS3 and a new Time Capsule. Want to connect the PS3 via Cat5e cable to Time Capsule and register an IP through the Time Capsule.The reason for this is that I am trying to stream wirelessly at 5Ghz from Laptop (wireless n) to TC (wireless n) and then have the Gigabit cable transfer data rapidly to the PS3 so that 1080p films can be played without stutter.The problem is that when I hook up the PS3 to the TC via "wired connection" in the PS3 network settings, it won't gather an IP address through the TC and network connection fails.

700mhz G4 processor, 40gb harddrive, DVD ReaderCombo drive, 17 inch screen, internal 56k modem, ethernet port, built-in speakers, 2 Firewire ports, 3 USB ports, external speaker & mic connections, and video output for an external monitor. fresh installation of OS X 10.1. Also I plan to update to tiger (get an update off ebay). Will the computer handle it well? I'm eventually going to upgrade to 1gb of RAM.
I have found disks that say "media only" for really cheap and I realize those aren't licenses but since the eMac has Tiger wouldn't it already have an OSX license? Links to products would be nice if possible.

I am unable to obtain my .me mail via "Mail" on my PPC iMac.
I tried deleting the account and creating new account in Mail. I get the caution icon and I am repeatedly prompted for my password.

just got my air 11.6 cheapest version. I was playing tf2 under Os X and the performance is just a tiny bit too low for good playing, i feel like a tiny overclock of the 1.4 ghz cpu would greatly help. Considering the core 2 duo is a very mature cpu, and that the laptop doesnt seem to heat that much, it might just work. Of course Im talking about even just a lil oc to 1.6ghz.

The easy bit is creating the Watch Folder action, I have that working no problem. I can also send the email but what I can't figure out is how to customize the email content to say which specific file has been moved? How can I obtain the file name and paste that into the email notification?
