I would like to know whether it's a good idea to purchase the cheapest 15 inch MBP and upgrade it as it's needed. I will be using it mainly to watch movies, surf Internet, email and occasional movie maker. Is this a good route to take? Is it difficult to change components on a MBP?

Recently broke my monitor and need to find a cheap replacement asap. I know that you need something that has the right adaptor to plug in but it doesn't really matter if it's apple, acer, etc. My question is does anyone know of a cheap monitor for the time being that has the right adaptor for the powerman g5?

I recently bought a used Emac G4 and I have a router downstairs but now I need to know how to get a wireless signal in my room. Here are the specs:
700mhz G4 processor, 40gb harddrive, DVD ReaderCombo drive, 17 inch screen, internal 56k modem, ethernet port, built-in speakers, 2 Firewire ports, 3 USB ports, external speaker & mic connections, and video output for an external monitor. fresh installation of OS X 10.1. Also I plan to update to tiger (get an update off ebay). Will the computer handle it well? I'm eventually going to upgrade to 1gb of RAM.
I have found disks that say "media only" for really cheap and I realize those aren't licenses but since the eMac has Tiger wouldn't it already have an OSX license? Links to products would be nice if possible.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWith some minor exceptions, primarily for game playing for a few years in the late 90s, I haven't used Windows, well, basically ever (ok, I used DOS some until the mid-90s), mostly using various forms of Unix/Linux and Mac OS X. I have never purchased a Microsoft product directly (I've obtained licenses indirectly though).
View 10 Replies View Relatedjust got my air 11.6 cheapest version. I was playing tf2 under Os X and the performance is just a tiny bit too low for good playing, i feel like a tiny overclock of the 1.4 ghz cpu would greatly help. Considering the core 2 duo is a very mature cpu, and that the laptop doesnt seem to heat that much, it might just work. Of course Im talking about even just a lil oc to 1.6ghz.

It's also not just "Apple Devices 1080p" but all computer/hard drive based destinations (Apple Devices 720, Master, Export File, etc)

Apple on Thursday evening released a new version of its iPhone developer kit that also mentions a test version of iTunes 7.7, AppleInsider has learned. Also, updates have been released for Final Cut Server and the Pro Application Support framework. iPhone SDK Beta 8
Those familiar with Apple's third-party iPhone development software say that Beta 8 alludes to a special, pre-release version of the iTunes 7.7 jukebox software necessary to load a matching new version of the iPhone 2.0 firmware on the device itself, suggesting that Apple is nearing the point at which it will let developers test third-party software and the App Store in real-world conditions.
This iTunes release hasn't yet been seeded along with the new SDK, according to the people familiar with the revision. Appropriately, the SDK suite itself is said to be focused almost exclusively on bug fixes rather than introducing new features...................
Apple in recent weeks has reached out to members of its professional video editing communities to help test a couple of updates to its Final Cut suite of video production tools: one major and one incremental. The first is Final Cut Studio 3.0, the Cupertino-based firm's second major overhaul to its professional video and audio production suite for Mac OS X bundling component applications Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack, DVD Studio Pro, Color, and Compressor.
Although earlier rumors had pegged the software for release in early spring, the suite -- code named "Sideways" -- is still undergoing beta and compatibility tests with Snow Leopard, the company's next-gen operating system believed to be integral to a wide variety of professional application upgrades still under development at Apple and likely to arrive after the OS's summer release. While details are few and far between, AppleInsider has been able to confirm that recent distributions of Sideways are members of the 30A1xx build train and weigh in just shy of 3 gigabytes.............
