Windows On Mac :: Blue Screen Appeared And Computer Restarts
Mar 8, 2009
I have a problem with my windows partition. Every time it boots the blue beam stops in the middle and a blue screen appears, which I can't read because it disappears too fast. And than the computer restarts again. I also tried the safe mode but it didn't help either. So my question is: Can I fix windows from my mac partition?

My Macbook restarts itself after it hits the blue screen (just right before the login screen loads) sometimes it restarts, sometimes it shuts down.

New to Mac computers. When trying to open computer after being in sleep mode, I clicked the mouse to open the password screen, & a blank blue/black screen appeared & the mouse timer( colored circle) appeared, as if to be waiting. I had to unplug the computer to reboot it. This has happened twice in 2 days.

Everytime I start skype while in windows, the computer crashes and I get the blue screen... I think it has to do with the sound drivers, because when I'm using msn messenger also in windows suddenly the microphone mutes itself.
I tryed updating the realtek drivers with no help, updated skype, no help, I uninstalled the realtek drivers and the laptop did not crash anymore but I had no sound, any advice like for example how to get the microsoft drivers to work on the laptop without using realtek??
For whatever reason with the microsoft drivers,I think the sound is trying to come out of the digital outlet, I can see the ligth inside the jack, but nothing comes out of the laptop's speakers...
By the way, the vista version is Home basic.

Finder will flick to blue screen for a split second and restart quitting all open apps. Not restarting the iMac, but just Finder? I've ran Disk Utility and found no problems and also ran a Hardware Test and found no problems. The only indication I have is in Console which without posting the whole log the below lines stand out to me as potential issues:
HIToolbox: received notification of WindowServer event port death.
This line is present numerous times with each application name that was open next to it indicating to me a reason each app has quit? Then a long list of this line repeated;
com.apple.fontd [58544] FODBCheck: foRec->annexNumber != kInvalidAnnexNumber (0)
Followed by:
com.apple.WindowServer[58526] WindowServer[58526] <Error>: kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are logged.
This happened once yesterday and a few times today so it's becoming more regular...

I used to work on Windows normally without any problem but recently when I press the switch button on the mac so I can choose the Windows HD my computer restarts, it tries to load windows but ends restarting, I thought that maybe the partition died or something but I can see that everything is still in it's place ( From mac I click on Windows HD and I still see it's content)

Yesterday a vertical blue line appeared on my Mac display, which can be seen all the time but not when it is turned off.I can't make a screenshot off it, you can't see it on them.My Warranty just ran out one month ago.And I didn't used the imac very often, wasn't much gaming or running it the whole day, just using it for school works.Actually I am very disappointed of Apple, bought my first imac because I thought instead of a PC it would last 4 years at least.

I was working on my iBook G4 and it froze up on me. When I restart, it goes to the apple and spinning wheel then goes to a blue screen and sits there. If I restart it does the same thing. The only thing I have done for it to go to the login screen and not the blue screen is let it sit of a long time then try again. I have done a hardware test and everything passed. After much troubleshooting I figured I would erase the entire disk on the OS install and start over. I get about a quarter of the way through the OS install ( i have tried Leopard and after many freezes, reverted back to the original OS disk Panther) but I get the same thing everytime it just freezes. Usually everything freezes including the mouse pointer. My only option is to restart which gets me back to the blue screen. I have gone into the hard drive via firewire target disk mode and backed everything up. ANd everything seems fine in TDM. I also erased the disk through disk utility figuring if nothing is on the disk there should be nothing left to be causing this error. So i erased everything but still freezes up on the OS install.

I have just updated my iMac G5 to 10.5.6. When I restart, it hangs on the blue screen before log in. I have restarted in Safe Mode (no problem there) and removed the APE files in the library folder, as suggested on support.apple.com. I have also repaired permissions and verified the drive. Still no luck.
Is it really possible that the computer needs hours to restart after the update? And would it be better for me to restore using Time Machine or do an Archive & Install with the Leopard discs? The computer was acting a little funky before I updated to 10.5.6 (iTunes was sluggish), but I never had a problem rebooting.

I have had problems with 2 different Macbooks this last 2 weeks. 1 Macbook 2,4Ghz latest release and 1 Macbook pro that I cant remember specs on (the aluminum one without any black around display) etc. They say that they did some updates and restarted computer. When the mac starts up it comes all the way to login screen but when I click the user to login with there is only a blue screen with mouse arrow displayed.
I have tried a couple of things:
Hold shift on boot
Hold apple+p+r on boot
Boot on install disk and repaired diskpermissions
Other (brand new) RAM in both slots
Diskwarrior
Put disk in another macbook (exact same version)
Nothing of the above helped so I installed a new disk in the macbook install fresh OS and used the guide to clone everything from the original disk in a firewire case. When I did this it worked for a while but after a couple of restarts it was back at the bluescreen again. So to fix this I finally did a new OS install and copied files by hand. desktop, documents, movies and that kind of stuff. Not any library files, preferences and stuff. So now it works but since I got another with the same problem today. Anyone heard of bad firmware or updates released last couple of weeks or have any other ideas? No external devices attached.

My MacBook Pro is out of space and I am trying to unload files to an external drive. However, when I try to boot, I get the blue screen. When I boot in safe mode, it asks for my password, then freezes. Is there a way to move forward?

I Have my 15" macbook pro 2,4 Ghz 2G in RAM, with Snow Leopard, bootcamp and vista running for some time (about a year or so) and every thing has been going ok. Last night I made a clean windows 7 installation. All went good, installation, let windows 7 make his updates, I put Snow Leopard disk to make macbook pro drivers updates and I installed all the program I need including Norton 2010 Antivirus.
All went smooth and easy untill I activated Windows 7 with Daz Windows Loader 1.6.9. After a few seconds It said : Everything Ok, Windows is now activated and your machine will reboot now. After that, it gets out of the desktop to the closing window and suddenly I get the blue death screen. I have to manually press de power button to shut down my macbook pro.
I reboot again and after getting the safe mode screen stuff i just keep with Start Windows normally. It starts well again, but now each time I want to reboot or shut down my MBP I get again and again the blue death screen. And Im sure i will get it while working soon.Is it probably because I did all kind of updates before running the Daz Loader (including programs and antivirus software)??

Everytime I turn it on I get a black box asking to shut down or restart the mac. I have managed to get it to turn on to powersave and managed to update the software. Thought it might help but just made it worse - it won't boot up at all now past an apple symbol with a little swirly thingy underneath (I apologise now for my lack of intelligence when it comes to computers/knowledge/names of things!) The first time I managed to boot the computer up it came up with the grey screen and a little folder flashing between a face and a question mark which I assume meant it couldn't find anything but that appears to have gone away now. I bought this computer new from Apple about 2 - 3 years ago and no disks were provided with it.

I was using my Mac (Macbook Pro 15" screen) and tried opening a file in GarageBand, at which point a warning message came up saying something about a midi file and something not being allowed, and then froze, resulting in me having to switch the computer off from the power button and restarting (Sadly I didnt realise that this would be the start of a whole host of problems and didnt make a note of the warning message). After rebooting I got the 'stuck on the blue screen with the Apple logo and infinitly spinning wheel' problem that i've seen in a few posts. having tried numerous suggestions posted with no change I ended up taking it to the genius section of an Apple store. When i got it back they said that it may have been a corrupted file, and that they re-installed and reset the starting programs (Something along those lines, I cant quite remember). I can now get onto the computer and use it, though some new problems have arisen.......

just ran a recent update for my macbook pro/mid 2010, and the computer just woke up with a plain blue screen & spinning beach ball - I had to do a hard shut down.I am also having the problem of having my screen going black for a couple of seconds, I read up on it in Support. But I was wondering if there is something else going on.

Just did a fresh install of Windows 7 RC onto my Boot Camp partition. Using VMWare's Fusion (v2.0.4) to load Windows 7 up on my Mac. However, it blue screens as soon as the Windows 7 logo appears during boot.
I have it set up to emulate "Windows 2008 Server x64" as detailed in VMWare's post to get Windows 7 working.
What's going on..? Any ideas how I can sort this out?

I have a new IMac and I installed vista via bootcamp, when I start up vista I am getting a blue error screen that flashes so fast i cant even ready it... then the computer shuts down. When I restart it again it goes to the page that gives me the choice to safe start or start normal. Sometimes it will let me go to windows and work fine but there have been times when it just does that over and over again. Does anyone know what this is caused from? I guess I'll have to reformat or something. If I continue to use my computer this way will it wreck something?

I just picked up a Mini display port to DVI adapter for my Macbook Pro so that I could hook it up to my 32 inch 1080p tv that I use as my main desktop monitor. It works just great in OSX (though for some odd reason I have to put the laptop to sleep then plug it in for it to work correctly. Can't be on or off otherwise I don't get the full picture not sure why) but in bootcamp it instantly causes a blue screen. If I plug it in then reboot to windows I get a blue screen even before its loaded windows all the way. I assume this is a driver issue but I'm using the latest boot camp drivers.

For the last few months, my MP has had a strange quirk. When I select Shutdown, the computer restarts instead. Then, at the login screen, I select shutdown and it will then turn off. I've tried disconnecting all USB and Firewire connections (except keyboard and mouse) with the same results. It does seem to be time related. For example, if I start up the computer, get to the desktop and then shutdown, it turns off no problem. However, after its been running for a bit it will do the restart thing instead.

Every time I try to install the latest version of leopard when the computer restarts it's self and it starts to "Configure installation", it freezes. I really don't think it should take OVER 12 hours to STILL be "Configuring". I called Apple, and the representative told me that I might need to install safari, but, it won't let me. Heh, I don't know what the problem is. I have an iMac G5 with 57.21 GB on my it. Does anyone know of any solution for this issue?

I have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro that I recently updated to 10.9.4. The computer randomly restarts every once in a while and gives me an error when it reboots saying that there was an issue. When I log in, I choose to report the issue to Apple and it shows me what it will send. I see that it says there was a GPU Panic, which I have seen on other mid-2010 MacBook Pros after updating to 10.9. The computer now is restarting within 10 minutes of me logging into it, rendering it completely useless. Â Â
I will not tolerate a $1,500 computer restarting every 10 minutes because of an error on Apple's part. They allowed me to upgrade without giving me any sort of a warning that bad things could happen. Â Â

When I have no other internal drives connected I have no problems with Windows 7 loaded in boot camp. But when I connect my other 4 internal drives (in bay 2, 3, 4 and optical bay 6) which are set up as a Raid 0 configuration for Snow leopard I run into problems- I get a blue screen of death almost instantly when I start to move the cursor in windows 7. Seems like if there was a way to tell Windows 7 to ignore the 4 other drives then it would work fine? I don't want to have to pull them from the machine each time I start in windows 7.

while i am using my macbook the screen will suddenly go blue and flash between different blue colors like it is trying to work. sometimes it comes back on but most of the time it stays like that. I have to force shut down with the button and then restart...about half the time it is still flashing blue after the restart and if it does work, it goes blue eventually.
dont know if its a problem with the screen or what because the computer continues to work...if there is a movie on, you can here it in the background and the screen just flashes.

I've used Boot Camp to create a 32GB partition and install Windows XP (SP2 home edition) on my alu iMac (2.66 Ghz, 4GB RAM).
I used the FAT format to allow transfer of files between the Mac partition and the Windows one.
After booting Windows, I put in my original Leopard install DVD as directed, and the Boot Camp installer automatically came up.
