View 5 Replies View RelatedI used to work on Windows normally without any problem but recently when I press the switch button on the mac so I can choose the Windows HD my computer restarts, it tries to load windows but ends restarting, I thought that maybe the partition died or something but I can see that everything is still in it's place ( From mac I click on Windows HD and I still see it's content)
View 11 Replies View RelatedFor the last few months, my MP has had a strange quirk. When I select Shutdown, the computer restarts instead. Then, at the login screen, I select shutdown and it will then turn off. I've tried disconnecting all USB and Firewire connections (except keyboard and mouse) with the same results. It does seem to be time related. For example, if I start up the computer, get to the desktop and then shutdown, it turns off no problem. However, after its been running for a bit it will do the restart thing instead.

I really don't think it should take OVER 12 hours to STILL be "Configuring". I called Apple, and the representative told me that I might need to install safari, but, it won't let me. Heh, I don't know what the problem is. I have an iMac G5 with 57.21 GB on my it. Does anyone know of any solution for this issue?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro that I recently updated to 10.9.4. The computer randomly restarts every once in a while and gives me an error when it reboots saying that there was an issue. When I log in, I choose to report the issue to Apple and it shows me what it will send. I see that it says there was a GPU Panic, which I have seen on other mid-2010 MacBook Pros after updating to 10.9. The computer now is restarting within 10 minutes of me logging into it, rendering it completely useless.
I will not tolerate a $1,500 computer restarting every 10 minutes because of an error on Apple's part. They allowed me to upgrade without giving me any sort of a warning that bad things could happen.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using my MacBookPro (1.83ghz) for 3 days, and today it began acting funky. It has spontaneously restarted about 10 times today. It restarted itself about 4 times in 10 minutes just now. Twice it has restarted as soon as the previous restart completed, before any programs have been launched, and with no peripherals plugged in. Other times it has spontaneously restarted with only Safari open, and with Illustrator CS open. Any ideas about what might be happening? Anyone had this issue? Could this be related to software? Or the 1 gig RAM module I installed?

The company I work for just changed their filer access to plain CIFS to DFS (distibuted filesystem). So now my powerbook can't connect to my share anymore. I did some search and discovered that Tiger doesn't support DFS, but perhaps Leopard will. And that there are 3rd party commercial solutions.
Does anyone know of free solution? The filer also talks NFS, but i don't want to change my local uid to match the uid of the Unix environment and to run automount. Am I really convicted to use the Windows XP client that's on my desk?
Recently I have been getting all of these pop ups on my computer and they wont stop. My computer speed is still perfectly fine but the pop ups wont quit on my Safari and Google Chrome. I did download ClamXav app on the app store and its found a few trojans and has quarantined them and deleted them but I still have the pop ups, I also tried the Addblocker on Google and it has some but there are still Pop-Ups. I cant use the internet without any of these going away

I'm just wanting a free word processor for OS 9. I was happy using Bean on my white iBook, but I now have a Clamshell iBook that I've designated as my OS 9 machine.
I want something that can stand to a standard file type that will be lossless when it comes to sizing and formatting. I understand there were a lot of HTML-based editors back in those days :P but I don't want to have to deal with converting.
More specifically, I'd like something like WriteRoom! Something that takes over your entire display for nothing but a mere word processor.

I cannot find my original MacOS 10.5 disk to re-do the password.

When using Safari in Snow Leopard, every 5 minutes the entire computer will stop responding and I get the beach ball for 15 - 30 seconds. Clicking around does nothing. Then things will return to normal. When not using Safari, the computer runs normally. Brand now MacBook Pro.
