IMac :: Unable To Install Clean Snow Leopard / Instructions To Install On Internal Drive?
Dec 20, 2009The internal hard drive on my early 2009 iMac is being replaced but I have to reinstall Snow Leopard myself.I did search in MRoogle and at Apple and cannot seem to find instructions on how to perform a clean Snow Leopard install on an iMac internal HD.
Can I do this? And if so how? Or do you think I should try and install Leopard on the existing Hd in the iMac? I still have these discs but have to get the SL applications install disc out of my drive (it's stuck and the iMac won't boot past the blue screen).

Software :: Unable To Install Leopard / Cannot Install Osx On Computer
Nov 4, 2008i have tried to re-install leopard into my macbook but it is just all a mess. i inserted leopard cd (original copy) into macbook to do a clean install to my new(to me) used macbook. the computer message after choosing language says "cannot install mac osx on this computer".
1. used disk utility to reapair disk...did no work
2. erased hd..still did not work.
3. made partition to install from external hd...now just made a total mess with computer.
4.i try to start computer from dvd drive with original leopard cd...still does not work. says cannot install mac osx to this computer...
i have macbook intel core duo 1 gig ram and enough memory.
please help i dont know what to do!!!!!
love my mac. buy i messed it up....

Jul 31, 2010I had to Archive and Install earlier today and now I'm trying to update to Mac OS X 10.6.4, however, when running Software Update, and downloading the update, an error message, "An error occurred during installation" popped up while it was trying to install the update.
I've tried to repair disk permissions and apply the update in Safe Mode.

Apr 8, 2009I had downloaded photoshop elements 6 for mac and used the trial period. It ran up and my mother purchased the program on a disc. When I try to install it it starts the setup and then tells me that an error occurred and there is an incompatible payload or something along that line. What do I need to do to fix it. I know I should have just put in the s/n from the box instead of trying to install with the disc but I didn't think that much.

Jul 5, 2010I've noticed that all of a sudden my MacBook Pro stopped installing updates. Lately, the only one that was installed up to the end was an HP printer update. Updates from Apple or from Microsoft Office will not get to the end of the process. It doesn't matter if I try via Software Update or directly from the Apple site. What happens it that the process goes up to the point I click "install" (after choosing the volume - which is the main HD), then nothing happens - no dialog box, nothing. I can click "install" a hundred times (the button remains available). Then I have to quit the installation process.

I formatted one of my FAT32 partitions and tried to install Mac OS X in this partition.The installation went smoothly until I found the error below The installer could not install some files in "/Volumes/Untitled".Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
I researched in the internet for a solution to this and I found out that Mac OS X is installed in a HFS + journaled partition.I reformatted my partition to HFS+ and tried to re-install the Mac OS X.During installation,the installation setup could only detect my NTFS and FAT32 partitions.The HFS partitions was not in the selection list.

Nov 13, 2010I have a MBP mid 2009 ( 3.06 Ghz - 8GB Ram). Through work I managed to obtain a Lenovo 256GB ( Toshiba ) SSD. When I replace the current 500GB drive with the SSD and boot with the snow leopard (10.6.3) disc, the drive is not recognized. I go into disk utility and the only drive is the DVD drive. I put the SSD in a pc laptop and booted with a Ubuntu Usb drive and it found the SSD first go, no issue, so the drive works.

IMac :: Unable To Clean Install
Nov 16, 2010I want to do a clean install on my mac. It is starting to act up a little and I want to just clean it up and start over. I have parallels with windows 7 on the computer with office 2010.
I also have cs5. After I wipe and reload snowleopard can I reinstall my applications with the old serial numbers or are my serial numbers all used up? do i need to uninstall thm before the wipe?

w' issue for no prompt for disc two! This leaves you with partial OS!!! Apple knows it is an problem now. MBA not as tight and tested as my other Apple products.
Oh, how I wish they had fire wire option! I have returned and will wait for issue to settle down. Neat box too many potholes. Have a good time reaching the MBA tech team.
PowerPC :: Unable To Install Tiger On G4
Nov 25, 2008I installed a new 250GB WD ATA hard drive in my 450mhz Sawtooth G4. The computer sees the drive, it works in target disk mode but nothing will install.
When I try to install Tiger from the DVD or the 4xCD set it gives an error after a minute of installing and says to restart. The Tiger disks crash my G5 as soon as I try to boot them. When I try to install Leopard via target disk mode from my G5 it says it cannot be installed on this computer.
This isn't one of the computers that has to have the OS installed in the first 8gb of the drive partition is it? I don't want to install 10.3, too much of my software isn't compatible with it. It was running 10.4 fine on the old 30gb drive.

I have an external HD, partitioned into 2 volumes, where 1 volume is empty and I want to install Tiger onto this volume.
Trouble is when I boot into the install CD and try to install on this volume it says that it 'cannot install on this volume.Mac OS cannot boot into this volume.'
I found on google that when partitioning the whole ext. HD, there is an option about a GUID or something which allows the drive be bootable.
This would be useful but it would wipe my whole drive, including the other volume.
I do not want to do a clone of my int. HD, and SuperDuper! it onto the ext. HD.

Jun 12, 2009I am new to mac, I have a macbook on 10.4.11 OS. I am unable to install any .pkg files, I tried to install a driver for wacom tablet ( I get the file from wacom website, apple site directed me to there), my laptop cant open the file, it gives no error code neither, it gives no respond no reaction to my click, double click and try to use open with "installer" move. I did check, in my utility dir there is a installer, but I dont know why it cant install/pkg files for me. I also checked crash reporter under log, there is no crash report log for installer. Same story happens to canon printer driver .pkg file too. I also lose the disks went with laptop so I may have difficult to reinstall the system.

Jul 9, 2010I installed Windows XP SP3 and it installed just fine. I went and bought the Snow Leopard OSX DVD from the Apple Store. The bootcamp installed, etc. now that I tried to install a game, it worked.
Upon start up, it's asking for Direct X, installed that as well. Then it said that it failed because I don't have the driver. I checked and the driver is non-existent for graphics.

Aug 14, 2010So i gave a friend of mine a hand with his 2009 27" i7 iMac by installing Windows 7 for him. Unfortunatly for some reason after you get through all the meat of the install and it restarts to finish off and ask for personal information but here's the problem. The display is showing nothing! You can hear the fans are on and booting into mac is fine but I can't get any farther with the Windows 7 installation because i can't see anything! I know the disc works because I installed from it the night before.
