View 1 RepliesI have created a website using my iWeb application, but I cannot figure out how to get it up and running through my host. I have an account with justhost.com, and they claim it is an easy process to get iWeb sites online through them, but I have tried and still can't figure it out.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Mac is noticeably slower so I'm looking to clean it up before I try a clean install on the hard drive. I found a Kodak printer program and an HP printer program both of which I deleted from applications, but both of which are chewing up 500MB of process memory, and when I force a quit they just pop open again a second later.Question:
Where are these programs hididng? How do I kill them?
Any other tricks to speed my Mac up (I verified permissions already).
So I've been having a lot of internet issues since clean installing leopard. My neighbor, who works for Verizon, came over to take a look and thought I was having some DNS issues. He edited the "host" file and now my internet connection seems even worse. I found instructions online on how to edit the host file, but could someone post what the host file is actually supposed to look like in Snow Leopard since I don't know what he changed? I still have a completely clean install of SL, no 3rd party apps yet.

If I were to purchase Snow Leopard and install it on the Macbook, would I then be able to use the copy of Leopard that came with the Macbook on the iMac? I am not trying to use 2 copies of the same thing on different machines, I just want to put a new os on one machine and move the existing one to another.I am reluctant to purchase the Mac Box Set version of Snow Leopard for the iMac because I do not want or need iLife and iWork.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am going to be purchasing Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium (Photoshop, Acrobat, Flash, Dreamweaver, etc) shortly but want to make sure I have enough horsepower to be able to run it. Ideally, I'd like to have this on my laptop so the program can be portable, but at the same time I don't want to be hauling around 10 pounds of equipment with me.
So I'm looking at the MacBook pro 13" and am wondering if the 2.53 GHz, 4 GB of memory, and the 250 GB drive is enough power to be able to run CS4. I like the idea of a 13" as it's lighter to carry around, but when I look at the 15" version it looks like I can get a bit more processor and drive space, but more importantly it looks like the graphics are a bit better as well. I'm just trying to ascertain whether the graphics card on the 13" version will be an inhibiting factor to using CS4 Design Premium.

I keep getting messages like this. I am under the impression a host has created a carbon framework.
Something's up. I see this every 18 seconds: rpc.lockd: can't contact statd, 100024 RPC: Unknown host In addition, in the Activity Monitor, some kernel task is taking up a lot of memory. I just switchd to Lion in the past 5 days so I wonder if that might play a part.

Now:all CD's show up as untitled, show as having no content, and are listed with burn symbolCommercial DVD worksDVD's made by professional videographers (school event) are ejected
All of the above are readily read and DVD's played, title and content, by my old PowerBook G4, running 10.3.9Â

I see SanDisk has just shipped it's new SSD product and it is qualified with Mac OS Snow Leopard. If I purchase the SSD is it possible to put it in my 2007 MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard? Would an Apple Store do that for me or would I need to go to a 3rd party vendor?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook 13" 2.0 GHz with 1 GB Ram and a 80GB harddrive 2006 model. This machine recognizes all ram, DVD, Hard Drive and ng usb etc. seems to work perfectly. BUT, it will only startup if I HOLD the PowerButton down all the way down until I see the the Apple Logo. If I just hit the powerbutton and go, it will t reboot over and over and over. I have bought new ram, nope. I tried a different HD, nope. I disconnected the DVD, nope. It simply won't boot properly. Once I HOLD down the power button to get it running it works fine, sees the camera, BT, WIFI, clock is at right time, all keys on KB work, and usb peripherials. I cannot reset the pram or vram at all, even while holding the power button down to boot. If I just hit the button and quickly press Command option p r it just reboots like always. Does anyone have any ideas??? I'm at a loss as it works fine once booted. While holding the power button to boot it I see my front led flashing and then hear the several beeps and it starts up just fine.
I have pulled the battery, removed the PSU, held the power button for a whole minute battery or power and let it sit overnight like this but nada, still does this.
For some strange reason i don't have sound anymore on my macbook pro running snow leopard.

I've just got the Das Keyboard Ultimate Model S for my 2009 MacBook Pro, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I'm using the USB port to connect the keyboard, and the first time I plugged it in, the computer asked me to hit the first key to the right side of the left Shift key, which is pretty standard whenever a new keyboard is plugged into the Mac. It recognized it as a European ISO standard, which it is.
However since then my Mac no longer recognizes it as that kind of keyboard. When I go into the "Show Keyboard Viewer", the keyboard is recognized as a US Standard layout, and an Apple keyboard as well (meaning it doesn't "see" the numpad). You can see it's a US standard keyboard, as the Enter key is horizontal, and the left Shift key is wider. (the rest of the layout is Danish, which shouldn't matter in this case).
How do I tell my Mac that this isn't the correct keyboard? I've resetted the SMC, PRAM and NVRAM. I've tried to find and delete the file "com.apple.keyboardtype.plist" in my Library -> Preferences folder, but for some reason I don't have that file. I've plugged the keyboard into my iMac, running the same OS, and here the keyboard is recognized correctly, so it's not the keyboard that's faulty.

I am having a huge issue with my wireless dropping once connected to my MacBook Pro (Model A1278) 13.3". Wireless connections are not dropping on my iPad/Laptops/Iphone. Running Leopard 10.6.8 and have updated everything. It started about a month ago and is inconsistent in terms of how long I stay connected, but never more than 10mins. Luckily I run an SSD and can reboot in 10seconds.

Is there a free way to run/emulate OS X Snow Leopard while running Leopard?
I had a billion problems when I upgraded to Snow Leopard but some software that I don't use frequently only works with it so I want to be able to run those apps while still staying in my less buggy OS X Leopard.
I don't want to have dual boot operating systems. OS X Leopard 10.5 is my primary OS.
I wanted to know where I can find the Snow leopard dmg file. I'm trying to install it via USB but I need to find the image first. I was told to go to the apple developer webpage but I can't find it there. Maybe i'm looking in the wrong place.

It is running Leopard 2GB RAM, 64 BIT, 120 HD, BLUETOOTH, ECT. I was curious if my Macbook will be able to run Snow Leopard because some people say it needs 4GB RAM and I can replace my ram, but I really just want to run it smoothly on my macbook.

A few days ago, I found my macbook running slow. The starting time used to be 2+ min but slow down to 10+ min. I tried to reinstal by installation DVD but the time bar showed 5+ hours required. I restarted the macbook and tried to format the HD, after proper steps taken, the time bar showed 17 days. Instead booting from the system, I tried to boot direct from my installation DVD.
After formatted the HD and re-instal the system, the MacBook seems running smooth again. But after installation of other programs, the same problem recurred. The system was getting slow. Re-starting it required waiting over 10 minutes. I tried to re-format the HD and installed the system again but still doesn't work. Under the disk utility "first aid" scanning through the HD, it showed "Invalid key length." and "The volume Macintosh HD could not be verified completely."

After checking out the system requirements for the upcoming Snow Leopard OS I'm wondering if my '06 MacBook 1.1 w/ a Core Duo processor meets the minimum requirements - specifically, the difference between a 32-bit processor vs. 64-bit processor.
"64-bit support requires a Mac with a 64-bit processor."
