Jan 31, 2012I am trying to get a Sony ECM-DS70P Condenser Stereo Microphone with a 3.5mm stereo male plug to work on my MacBook Pro with a Behringer UCA222 USB Audio Interface and I am having no joy at all.The Microphone will not work when plugged directly into the Line-in jack on the MacBook Pro because the Audio Line-In input on the MacBook is line level -10dB to+4dB and microphones are generally around -40dB. So, I need either a line level preamp or a usb audio interface.I decided on a USB Audio Interface (Behringer UCA222).The Microphone is plugged into a 3.5mm stereo to RCA L & R cable which is plugged into the L/R RCA inputs on the Behringer UCA222. The Behringer UCA222's USB Cable is plugged into a USB port on the MacBook Pro.
On the Macbook Pro in System Preferences > Sound > the output is set to Internal Speakers and the input is set to the USB Codec (Which showed up when the Behringer UCA222 was plugged in). [code]

May 31, 2010I've had a look on these forums and had a look on the web but I'm still confused by what I need to get to meet my external storage needs. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Background I'm going back to university next year to study animation so I've just ordered a Macbook Pro and I will be selling my '08 Mac Pro fairly soon to pay for it. I'm doing this because I need to be able to work from where ever. I know if I need to do any massive renders University has equipment I can use. What I am looking for Animation obviously takes up a lot of Hard Disk space so I need someway of storing, accessing and backing up all of my work that wont fit on my laptop. This is a basic summary of what I need it to do.
- Store old projects (that can be 100's of Gb)
- Easily backup MBP harddrive (500Gb) & old projects on other drives.
- Work directly on it on large animation projects.
- Be expandable in the future.
- Fairly easy to set up and use.
- Cheap is good but I'm happy to pay more if the benefits are obvious.
- Any extra bonuses are good (like working wirelessly, etc) but only if it's not loads extra.
I don't know if all these things are possible but be very grateful for any help regardless.
OS X :: Won't Work To Upgrade HDD
Dec 11, 2010So my Macbook Pro is coming and it's a 15in Core Duo 2.16Ghz with 2 cores. It's already up to 2GB of Ram which seems to be the max. But the HDD is only 100GB. Is there a certain limitation I can go up or can I go has high as I want? Because I was hoping to get a 250GB which is the perfect amount.
The reason I ask this is because I heard from someone that there is a limitation.

It has the stock 4 gb of ram, in the form of 2x 2gb of 1066 ddr3 ram.
I saw some ram from OCZ at a very good price, the OCZ3M13334G.
It is a 4gb dimm, but it is rated at 1333 ddr3.
I can get 2 of these, making 8gb for 150 euros, wich I think is a good price.
The question is if it will work good on my macbook, being 1333mhz?
OS X :: Certain CDs No Longer Work Since Upgrade
Mar 9, 2009I upgraded to Leopard from Tiger, and am now having a problem reading certain CD-ROMs. Each month, I receive a CD from a guitar instruction site. When I was using Tiger, I had no problems reading any of these CDs, but, since the upgrade, I've become unable to open the most recent few. They aren't even recognized by the computer, and are ejected automatically, although they work perfectly on two other Macs running the same version of Leopard. Older CDs from the same company still play fine. My drive is a Matshita DVD-R UJ-857D.

(it wasn't a mac version) Now that i've upgraded to a new Mac Pro 4,1 it has a GT120 from nvidia. I need to either get the GeForce 7800 or the GTX260 working. I've been researching and reading for almost 2 weeks now. I've tried everything I've seen and have had to reload this poor mac twice now. If all the drivers are built in, why does it only see the card as "Display" in the system profiler?

Feb 27, 2009so i havent used my ibook in awhile, so i ran all of my system updates (had to do it like 3 times...). i then opened my limewire, and it asked if i wanted to update, i was on a roll so why not?
i updated, restarted my computer and now when i try to open it it says
"this application requires java 1.6 or later, but only the following java versions are installed:1.5.0, 1.4.2, 1.3.1, 1.5, 1.3, 1.4. updating to a newer version of mac os x may resolve this."
i know i can update os x, but that will cost me $129!

Desktops :: Printer And Scanner Don't Work After OS X Upgrade?
Apr 27, 2010A few days ago I finally upgraded my iMac G4 (Flatpanel) from 10.4.9 to 10.4.11. I had not printed or scanned anything since then, but today I needed to do both, and they don't work. I think it has something to do with the upgrade because they were working just fine before that.
The printer is an Epson Stylus 777i
The Scanner is an Epson Perfection 640U
What could have changed, and how can I get my Mac and peripherals to work together again?

May 20, 2012Trying to view a YourTube video on a new current iMac running 10.7.4.Video is embedded in site that I administer, so I need to check the link when I update. Get the dreaded " This video is currently unavailable" tag.The video played fine before the Safari 5.1.7 update, and plays fine on my Air and on my iPod.No other updates or software changes - only the Safari update. So the Safari upgrade broke the part where the browser identifies itself to YouTube so I get the HTML feed instead of Flash?No Flash loaded on this iMac, ever.

I cannot take screen shots, or get Expose to work with F10, F12, etc. Apple-Tab doesn't bring up the applications currently open, etc. I've searched all over for this issue, but not finding anything. OS X V10.7 Lion :: IMac Sound Doesn't Work After Upgrade?
Jun 27, 2012I have an Intel-based iMac which I just upgraded two days ago from Snow Leopard to Lion (10.7.4). I did an upgrade-in-place (as opposed to a fresh install) and did a software update after the installation completed. I have my computer scheduled to wake up each morning at 6 a.m. When it wakes up, the sound doesn't work unless I reboot the computer. If I open up iTunes and try to play music, there is no sound (unless I reboot). The song progress meter at the top of iTunes won't even move when I hit the play button. When I open the Sound preference and click the Output tab, I do see the Headphone port and the output volume is set all the way up.

Aug 27, 2009I have 3 Macs within my family that I would like to upgrade to SL. Sounds like the Family Pack upgrade would be a great purchase.
However, if at some point, I want to reinstall SL on a SL-loaded machine, do I need to reinstall Leopard, to get Snow Leopard to recognize the upgrade?
Or will SL allow installations of SL directly?
