I am currently running 10.5.8 and want to upgrade to Lion. Do I need to go through Snow Leopard first? My iMac appears to have the correct spec to run Lion.Â
I recently split my hard drive using Boot Camp in order to also run Windows. When I upgrade will this affect the Windows side of things? Will I be able to upgrade to Windows 7?Â
Am I likely to get problems with software such as Sage 50 line 2011, MS Office for Mac, Rosetta Stone, Dreamweaver 8?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to potentially upgrade my hard drive from the measly 160GB to something with more space, more current, and hopefully faster. I've been doing my homework, and the only thing that scares me is the OS. I don't want to clone my harddrive as I would love to start new. I have back ups, so anything important can be transferred, but I would really like a clean slate. That would mean installing the OS from scratch. Can I use the boot disc I made with the Lion installer to install Lion on the new drive directly? I bought my MacBook Pro with Leopard installed, and later that summer installed Snow Leopard, then last summer upgraded to Lion. I don't have the Snow Leopard discs anymore, but I wouldn't want to install each after the other. How do I go about installing that? If I have a brand new drive, there theoretically won't be anything on it, so when I get that in and turn on the computer, what will happen? Will it tell me to do something?

I have an iMac with a directly attached USB drive and a Mac PowerBook attached via WIFI to the same network. I would like to have both devices back up to the shared drive via Time Machine. To date I have been able to get this to work, in a limited fashion. As soon as the iMac goes to sleep the PowerBook cannot see the drive and the backup fails. I would think that since I have selected the power option on the iMac to wake up for network access that this should work. This sounds like a simple requirement, I tryed to attach the USB drive to my Airport Extreme and we all know that that does not work.Â

Is it possible to upgrade directly from Mac OS X 10.6.8 to OS X Lion ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought my Macbook Pro 13" in July 2010. The only main reason that led me to buy one is the idea that I can make life easier with OS X but also be able to use BootCamp for windows whenever I want. However, it seems that BootCamp crapped out on me, I can no longer fully install windows (Kept getting stuck at "completing installation"n)Â I've been tracking reviews and what not since Lion came out and most people with my model of MBP are saying that it slows down the MB's process quite a bit. There's nothing I can't stand more than a laggy system. Is there anyone with my model of Macbook Pro who upgraded to Lion finding it smooth sailing on your machine? I just really want BootCamp to work again and the only thing I haven't tried is upgrading my OS X.
