when i try to install mac os x leopard on my computer it is showing messagemac os cannot be installed on your computer.. it is showing a message installer cannot create thelder "/volumes/untitled1/basesystem.pkg.137JhrRZi", somewhat like this...... so pls help...... help me in installing mac os x...I have Amd athlon 64, & gigabyte mother board...If i use disk utility to erase drive it get struck on the same screen showing preparing to erase...

Installed a new 750GB drive into my MacBookPro 5.1 Couldn't get Winclone to make image so I was forced to start from scratch with a new XP installation.
My MBP is partitioned 25%Mac & 75%XP with bootcamp and I have the old drive in a enclosure connected with a firewire. So all of old files are on the external drive now.
After installing XP I have no internet connection, drivers etc... However if I boot up on the mac side everything works fine. (I cloned the mac os already with Carbon copy).
So can I just copy all my old drivers over to the new drive? If yes how and if no how do I get them installed on the new harddrive. The MBP came with everything preinstalled.

Im not sure why, but after i reinstalled lion, the app store says imovie is installed, but imovie is not installed garage band installed fine, and for iphoto i had to do system update, and it installed, but for some reason app store wont let me install imovie, cause it says it is installed but it isntÂ

If I try to install Mac OS X on my macbook it the installation says: "Mac OS X can not be installed on this computer"
I have the original disk for this macbook.
Before someone hit a command in the terminal like: sudo chmod /0700 or something to fix something which in the end did not work.
After this I:
-Formatted the disk several times. Also overwriting everything with zeros and overwriting 7 times, which I actually skipped after 5 times
- Erased the parameter RAM holding Command, Option (Alt), P and R while starting up.
I would be grateful for any hint how I can install.

After downloading, during "validating packages" I got this message: "The update could not be expanded, and may have been currupted while downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked agian the next time that Software Update runs". I re-ran Software Update, re-tried to install it.Same message.Â

I have a Mid-2010 MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7.3, currently with the 4gb of RAM that it came with. I want to upgrade this. I am aware that there are two slots that I can use to upgrade. My question is this: the spec page for my model [URL] states that it has "4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 memory; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 8GB." Does this mean that I can have 8 total (meaning I can only add 4), or that I can add 8 gigs, making a total of 12? As far as I'm aware, the base 4 are located somewhere else inside the computer, leaving the two expansion slots empty.

I have installed Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and ran Software Update, and now I want to upgrade to Lion. I can open App Store, log in, access my account, but when I try to purchase Lion I get a message "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)". When I click OK, I get the message "Unknown Error." I really don't want to have to reinstall everything By the way, I also created a new Apple ID with a different email just to see and I get the same error.

I installed a new hard drive on my G5. Trying to boot up from my leopard install CD. I get a blue screen with two arrows and the install cd icon. Plus the "clock" going around. It's been doing that for 30 min. What is that? Just when I was starting to feel confident in my HD installing capabilities.

I have installed 512 mb ram in my white 12" ibook G3 128 mb 900 mhz. I had a really difficulty time installing it. I can't tell if it is installed in the slot totally. I read instructions from "ifixit" to install memory. Instructions said to pull clips back and slide memory into slot. I slid memory in as far as I could, and then pushed the chip down. Some of the gold teeth are still showing, and the chip isn't in straight>
If it is installed correctly, will it show up in the up in the profile, Is there anything else I need to do.

Well I install windows in bootcamp, everything was fine till I put in my Mac OSX disk in to install the drivers into windows. After the installing was done, it restarted and nothing works, the mouse and keyboard doesn't work its just stuck as soon as it turns on. I tried restore the partition and reinstalling windows but it still does the same thing.

I installed bootcamp and ran Windows 7 on a single hard disk.
After using MP for a while, I decided to use SSD as my main drive and re-installed Mac OSX on that drive. Now I cannot boot onto the hard disk with Windows 7 bootcamp.
Is there anyway to recover the hard disk wholly?
BootCamp Assistant keeps telling me I have to erase the whole partition and create a new one

ust installed my OCZ vertex 2E 240GB drive
Installation was pretty easy to be honest and I'm a novice with laptops.
did a clean install had to partition drive first then install OSX after doing all that I did a migration from time machine.
Something odd it booted up and my facetime app wouldnt work, got the error message that OSX was to old a version for it to work..
found it had 10.6.3 on it, thought it was odd as I did an install from the disc and my system came with 10.6.4.
so I did all the updates from software update up to 10.6.5 and now everything seems perfectly fine and lightening fast

I have recently purchased a MacBook, so i'm new to the platform. I believe the main "office" type package is iWork which will open DOC, PPT and XLS files. My question is should iWork come pre-installed or on the Mac Applications DVD? I have just loaded in the Mac Applications DVD and it seems to have "Macintosh HD" on it, which i've now installed. But no iWork.

Just trying to figure out how long I should let this pinwheel go for. It's been about 10 minutes or so. Before booting up for the 1st time I installed both my terabyte drives and 2x2 gigs of ram. Wondering if maybe those are conflicting with the initial set up sequence.

Just replaced a nonworking HD in a Macbook. Seagate, just like the old one, plugged in & found it & partitioned in Disk Utility, however, after naming the HD, when I go back to reinsall the OS from the original disks, I get an alert "This software cannot be installed on this computer" and the options to either Restart (which gets you back to the same place) or Startup Disk, which gives you the option to choose the OS install disk to restart or a Network Startup (with a question mark on it). The newly installed HD does not show up here, altho it can be seen in disk utility.

I have installed SmcFanControl2 and updated it to 2.1.3.1 and my minimum is 4000rpm now instead of 2000. Is there anyway i could change this?
I know i could just shut off and it'll reset back to 2000rpm if i dont have the program running but it is turning out to be quite a hassle.

When I installed Illustrator CS3 at the first time, I didn't complete it and closed it. While I installed it again, it said "Adobe Illustrator CS3 cannot be installed because it conflicts with Adobe Illustrator CS3". I was be stopped on this step, so I deleted the Illustrator CS3 from Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers without clicking it to uninstall.
And I deleted other Illustrator CS3 files. After that, I tried to reinstall Illustrator CS3 again, but it kept to say "Adobe Illustrator CS3 cannot be installed because it conflicts with Adobe Illustrator CS3". I cannot find any Illustrator in my MAC. What is wrong? How can I install Illustrator again? Should I format the computer and install all the applications again?

Where can I find the Apple pre installed wallpapers in a folder (path).
Because i use "change wallpaper for 1 minute" and I didn't like some of the wallpapers and I wanted to get ride of them. If I could find those wallpapers as a files in any location, I could delete (or move to some other location) them.

I have a MacBook with OS X 10.5 and I was looking at some of the updates I had installed and wanted to delete some that were irrelevant and that I shouldn't have installed in the first place. Somehow I deleted everything in the "Installed Updates" list, I know they are still on the computer because when I check for updates nothing new shows up. Is there any way to repopulate this list with the updates I have installed and is there anyway to remove the ones that I downloaded too hastily or should I just carry on since it is not a major issue? Of course I did not have Time Machine up and running yet.

has anyone installed 2 of the ATI Radeon 3870 (mac edition) cards and get crossfire mode to work successfully in XP under bootcamp? I've been trying to for a few days now with no luck!
The drivers for bootcamp on ATI's site won't install on my machine for some reason and when I use the normal xp drivers (successfully) I can't get the crossfire option to show up in catalyst control center.
Also, in the catalyst control center, it only shows the primary card as enabled and says my other is disabled. However, they are both enabled and working just fine according to the device manager.
Cards are installed in 1st and 2nd slot.
