OS X :: Mac OS X Cannot Be Installed Form This Disk
Sep 10, 2010
"Mac OS X cannot be installed form this disk" never herd of it before until it happened to me just minutes ago. attempting to install leopard onto a PowerMac Dual G5 from a FireWire drive.
I'm using a desktop IMac 15" and have come up against a problem I can't solve. I selected the disk drive as the start-up drive. Put the wrong disk in the drive and it is unable to start the comp. Now I have a blank screen and cannot eject the disk.
This is the first MAC I've ever had that does not have manual ejection for the disk drive.
I ran installer then went to disk utility and pushed disk repair. it ran and indicated in green that no repairs were necessary. i then went to startup disk and only the Diks and network startup showed up but no hard drive. i also open computer to make sure was not wet muddy due to leak in cooling system but all was dry
I got the error, "The contents of this disk can't be changed. Mac OS X couldn't be installed on this disk."
I restarted, to boot from the startup disk, not the CD.
And now it just goes to the grey screen and shuts off.
Pressing "C" or "Opt - Command - P - R" or holding down the Power button for a while and then restarting, or trying "Command - V"..... none of it works.
The machine just goes to the grey screen, the wheel spins, and it turns off.
I installed bootcamp and ran Windows 7 on a single hard disk.
After using MP for a while, I decided to use SSD as my main drive and re-installed Mac OSX on that drive. Now I cannot boot onto the hard disk with Windows 7 bootcamp.
Is there anyway to recover the hard disk wholly?
BootCamp Assistant keeps telling me I have to erase the whole partition and create a new one
I work in an office where we've picked up a few new MBPs. These machines have Snow Leopard and I'd like to install it on my machine running Leopard. Is there any way that I can install 10.6 on my machine using the Disks that came with the new machines?
my HD fried so I just installed a new 250GB HD about 20mins ago. It's not showing up on the disk utility. It shows one for 4.8GB but not the 250GB? bad connection? I'll try to reconnect it again. It's a Seagate, same brand as I took out of my 1.66 intel Mac mini.
The full message is below. I already have updated to 12.2.7 and running the latest Mac OS but suffering continual Entourage crashes, which I'm hoping this will fix.
Office 2008 12.2.8 Update can't be installed on this Disk. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume.
I have a macbook pro that is just a few weeks old. It came with a 500GB disk, exchanged it to a 120GB SSD disk. I installed OSX and windows and it worked fine for a few weeks. Then I burned an ubuntu 10 x86 cd. I shut the machine down and was going from windows to osx so I had the alt button pressed down while starting the machine. It took a while, but after that I got a folder with a question mark. I booted with a windows cd in, and it never reaches anything, just loading windows and freeze.
I booted ubuntu with the cd I burned and it finds a disk but sais its unparitioned. I have booted osx installation dvd and it also finds the disk but sais its unpartitioned. Repair drive is grayed out. I'm a windows admin and know my way around windows, I have just worked with mac for a few weeks so I am not familiar what I can do and what repair tools there is for the mac filesystems.
Update version number> can't be installed on this disk. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume..when i'm trying to install microsoft office 2011
I have an iMac that is less than a year old and I have very few applications installed other than what comes on it. I recently received a message that my startup disk was almost full. I keep all of my media on an external drive, have an apple time machine that stores the backups. I purchased the Space Gremlin and there is nothing on the hard drive that shows it's taking up that much space. The 500 GB hard drive shows only 11 GB free.
Info: iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
I searched for a while trying to find the answer but did not find it. I just installed Vista Business via Bootcamp. I am not able to access the internet or anything. If I read the help stuff right I need to use the OSX install disk to install the drivers. The problem is, I don't have the install disk. Is there any other way to get the drivers? Or am I just missing something easier?
so i installed a dev preview of safari 4, but now want to switch back. i deleted the old safari, but when i go to install safari now it says this disk already has a newer version of safari installed. what can i do?
I am a Mac newbie. Normally in Windows (PC), changes in a form needs to be confirmed before it is committed. I have noticed that in Mac (Snow Leopard) any changes I make (e.g. ticking a box in the System Preferences Expose form) is committed if I exit the form. Neither ESC nor CommandZ works. Is there a shortcut or key to not commit changes if I exit a form?
suddenly cant scroll anymore when is in reader mode. before that still ok, i can scroll when is reader mode in safari. even use the magic mouse, track pad or other mouse also cant scroll. but for other is working, like scroll website and others is work can scroll. only in reader mode cant scroll at all. even highlight the text also not auto scroll.
Installed a new 750GB drive into my MacBookPro 5.1 Couldn't get Winclone to make image so I was forced to start from scratch with a new XP installation.
My MBP is partitioned 25%Mac & 75%XP with bootcamp and I have the old drive in a enclosure connected with a firewire. So all of old files are on the external drive now.
After installing XP I have no internet connection, drivers etc... However if I boot up on the mac side everything works fine. (I cloned the mac os already with Carbon copy).
So can I just copy all my old drivers over to the new drive? If yes how and if no how do I get them installed on the new harddrive. The MBP came with everything preinstalled.
I'm using SAP ESS Netweaver portal to access an Adobe interactive form from an Apple Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. I cannot open the dynamic interactive pdf form at all despite installing a PDF browser plugin 2.3.2 from Schubert IT for Mozilla Firefox.
I have a few magazines that are in PDF form and I wanted to view them in zinio. Does anyone know how to make this work? Can it work. I do not know how to convert from one to the other.
how to create a form in Microsoft Word 4.0 on the Macintosh Classic? I need to create a specific template to match a multiform I need to print on my ImageWriter II.
So i've had my Macbook air 13" since december, i've had some problems with the trackpad so apple repaired it a few days ago. They've returned it once and they hadent reconnected the keyboard so i had to wait for them to fix it again. I've now noticed that when i power my macbook air up, or wake it from sleep theres a kind of zip noise that comes from the top left hand corner of the keyboard? Almost like scratching one of those reflective plastic pictures that changes the picture depending which way you look at it from. Is this noise normal? I've haden't noticed it before. i took it in again and apple said they 'Could not replicate' the problem.
I am having issues with my Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.2
I created a nice form for my client with a submit buttom to send his clients by email so they could share their answers on the same PDF straight to his inbox, but its not really working!!! After his clients fills in the form and clicks on the submit button, an error message from Adobe Reader appears that says ¨Operation not authorize¨
I created this form using a Macbook Pro 10.7.3 I tried making the form a 1000 times and nothing seems to work! I also search on the google but I couldnt find answers.
I'm trying to fill in this tax office online form, which is actually meant for IE...Apparently you can ONLY use IE. So Im trying to figure out a way to:
A. Get IE on my mac (or secure emulator which will let me print/save the output of the form)
