Applications :: Disk Burned With IDVD - Won't Play
Nov 2, 2009Tried but couldn't find an answer to this exact question. Here's the situation: I created a movie project in iMovie, then burned it to a DVD using iDVD. The burned DVD plays in my iMac but will not play in a DVD player. I get a Cannot play this type of disk error message. I used a DVD-R disk (Memorex). I can provide more information if needed to figure this out, but is there a simple answer as to why this would happen? The DVD player says it plays DVD-R disks. The disk works in my computer. Any ideas from the experts?

Oct 18, 2009I have an Office Template that was burned by Windauz for Windauz and when I put it in the drive it appears to be blank, but it says it's using 40mb of data and the information shows up when I put it in a Windows computer.
I know I could put it on a thumb drive and put it on my MacBook but I want to know WHY this is happening and what to do.

Oct 15, 2009I created a DVD of files then put the DVD in my Mac, created an image from it with Disk Utility, then burned multiple copies to DVD using the image.
The DVD's burned from the image are unreadable under Windows. Why? What must I do to make them readable on PC's?

Apr 22, 2012I have made repeated attempts to burn playlists to disk. But now the tracks are recorded as untitled tracks (with numered order). When I reload the CD's to itunes, I'm prmpted that that itunes can't get track info. THis used to work perfectly, now fails every time. Interface errorr? Perhaps disks too old?

Jan 18, 2009When I insert the DVDs I have burned from Toast 9 Titanium into both of my DVD players they display "no disk inserted." The movies play fine on my computer, though. Any tips? Can I change a setting on Toast 9 to make the DVDs able to play on my (somewhat older) DVD players?

Oct 4, 2009I tried to install Snow Leopard.
I got the error, "The contents of this disk can't be changed. Mac OS X couldn't be installed on this disk."
I restarted, to boot from the startup disk, not the CD.
And now it just goes to the grey screen and shuts off.
Pressing "C" or "Opt - Command - P - R" or holding down the Power button for a while and then restarting, or trying "Command - V"..... none of it works.
The machine just goes to the grey screen, the wheel spins, and it turns off.

MacBook Pro :: Lost OS X And Windows Partition After SSD Disk Installed
Jan 3, 2011I have a macbook pro that is just a few weeks old. It came with a 500GB disk, exchanged it to a 120GB SSD disk. I installed OSX and windows and it worked fine for a few weeks. Then I burned an ubuntu 10 x86 cd. I shut the machine down and was going from windows to osx so I had the alt button pressed down while starting the machine. It took a while, but after that I got a folder with a question mark. I booted with a windows cd in, and it never reaches anything, just loading windows and freeze.
I booted ubuntu with the cd I burned and it finds a disk but sais its unparitioned. I have booted osx installation dvd and it also finds the disk but sais its unpartitioned. Repair drive is grayed out. I'm a windows admin and know my way around windows, I have just worked with mac for a few weeks so I am not familiar what I can do and what repair tools there is for the mac filesystems.

Jun 22, 2012I have an iMac that is less than a year old and I have very few applications installed other than what comes on it. I recently received a message that my startup disk was almost full. I keep all of my media on an external drive, have an apple time machine that stores the backups. I purchased the Space Gremlin and there is nothing on the hard drive that shows it's taking up that much space. The 500 GB hard drive shows only 11 GB free.

Apr 10, 2009I searched for a while trying to find the answer but did not find it. I just installed Vista Business via Bootcamp. I am not able to access the internet or anything. If I read the help stuff right I need to use the OSX install disk to install the drivers. The problem is, I don't have the install disk. Is there any other way to get the drivers? Dec 5, 2010Installed a new 750GB drive into my MacBookPro 5.1 Couldn't get Winclone to make image so I was forced to start from scratch with a new XP installation.
My MBP is partitioned 25%Mac & 75%XP with bootcamp and I have the old drive in a enclosure connected with a firewire. So all of old files are on the external drive now.
After installing XP I have no internet connection, drivers etc... However if I boot up on the mac side everything works fine. (I cloned the mac os already with Carbon copy).
So can I just copy all my old drivers over to the new drive? If yes how and if no how do I get them installed on the new harddrive. The MBP came with everything preinstalled.

Aug 6, 2009I have a problem using MAC snow leopard OSX Install DVD since my MAC mini does not contain DVD drive. And I assume external dvd drives do not get mounted properly in MAC unless it is a firewire drive which I do not have.

My MBP 2.3 GHz, 2Gb Ram will NOT read this disk and ejects it, but another newer MBP will indeed read and mount this disk.I restarted the problematic MBP, repaired permissions, and said PLEASE.Still no luck.Before I burn it again with a fresh DVD-DL blank, what could cause this? The DVD drive in this unit works perfectly fine, under normal circumstances.

I have a late 2006 15" C2D MacBook Pro
It was working swimmingly until a couple days ago when I noticed that iTunes and Finder were no longer burning information on to CDs. Finder will burn information on to DVDs, I have not tried burning to DVD from iTunes.
Has anyone run into this problem? Here are the things I've noticed:
1) When burning on full speed, the disc just gets a "media write error"
2) When dropping to slow speed (2x, or lower!), iTunes goes through the burn process, shows the CD in iTunes as having been burned, but when you eject the disc, there is no data. If you look at the disc, there is no data or burning marks, etc.
3) DVDs from finder show burned marks, and will hold data.
Here's what I've changed to my MBP in the last couple weeks:
1) ran iDefrag in order to free up a lot of fragmented free space. Worked great.
2) moved my iTunes music and video to an external Lacie FW800 drive. (I'm moving it all back to the MBP now to see if this is an issue, but when trying to burn files off the actual MBP hard drive, it still doesn't work to CD. The external drive is HFS+)
3) ran BootCamp to get an XP partition (15gb out of 160gb), which is fine (haven't tried burning in XP yet.)

Nov 3, 2010I was able to make a 4-minute movie on iMovie ('06) and burned it to a disc, but the following error message appears (the file is not too large for the disc, which is a DVD+R, 4.7GB).
"The project could not be opened, because the disk is full, the folder is locked, or the folder permission are incorrect.

Jan 13, 2009I have compiled 8 tracks in hope to put them on a CD. After a long wait the CD was supposebly done, but when I tried to play it in my CD player it did not work. could this be caused by iTunes asking me to calibrate the CD? or is it because 5 were in mp3 fromat and 3 were in mpeg-4?
