I installed VM paralells a while back, I thought I would use it but I found out I do not. When I did use it it was EXTREMELY Slow.I used the uninstall and have removed parallels but here is my question.Didn�t Parallells partition my HDD?If so how do I get that precious space back?
View 5 RepliesI installed vista 64 went ok but now the computer defaults to vista and in windows there is no bootcamp icon to return it to mac, is there something I can install to get this to work, possibly the second Mac system disk would help? Also where do I get the drivers needed for vista. I have a Mac Pro 2.26 8 core.

The iPad is backed up to iCloud but not sure if it included the camera pictures. Were those pictures from my camera ever backed up and is it possible to get it back installed into a new computer?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am still relatively a new Mac user (5 months so far). As per my sig specs I have 4g RAM in my MacBook. I use istat and I am always aware of my RAM usage.After I installed FF3, I noticed my RAM usage has gone way up. I also tried FF2 after and it still was up in usage.Even when I have FF closed I still have 1g of RAM being used. I then noticed in activity monitor that kernel_task is using 232 mB of RAM right now. What is it and what is it doing?I have installed ONYX and cleared all caches, etc It seemed to have help for a few hours, then the RAM usage has crept back up.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI went to install XP on boot camp and I accidentily installed it on the wrong partition, so the drive that had leopard on it is now formatted to NTFS and I cannot format it back. I beleive all my data is still on because there is a lot of used disc space. I want to convert it back to HFS without the loss of data, as I have important information on the hard drive that I do not want to lose. I know this is my own fault because I wasn't paying close enough attention to where I was installing Windows
View 3 Replies View RelatedInstalled a new 750GB drive into my MacBookPro 5.1 Couldn't get Winclone to make image so I was forced to start from scratch with a new XP installation.
My MBP is partitioned 25%Mac & 75%XP with bootcamp and I have the old drive in a enclosure connected with a firewire. So all of old files are on the external drive now.
After installing XP I have no internet connection, drivers etc... However if I boot up on the mac side everything works fine. (I cloned the mac os already with Carbon copy).
So can I just copy all my old drivers over to the new drive? If yes how and if no how do I get them installed on the new harddrive. The MBP came with everything preinstalled.
I have a legal copy of iWork 09 installed via CD-ROM, it does not appear as "installed" in the app store.

I'm an idiot, pleased to meet you.I had 2 external drives connected to my Macbook Pro, both had time machine back ups on...I meant to delete one of these but deleted the wrong one, and dragged it into Trash. On realising my mistake I tried to drag it back out of Trash, as you would normally but after "preparing to copy" for four hours it told me the drive was full...It's a 500gb drive, and the Time Machine back up is the only thing on it, so presumably it's just trying to copy itself when the back up is still present on the drive, albeit in the Trash.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi finally got my High Res Glossy MBP after 4 weeks of waiting...Everything works fine...and NO yellow tint issue...The only problem is 1 small dead pixel towards the bottom right of the screen...Will apple do an exchange on CTO machines with only 1 dead pixel?Is it even worth doing the exchange? After reading these forums i see that a lot of other users have been complaining about all types of problems...Yellow tint, wifi problems, over heating...etcshould I consider myself lucky? And just be happy that its only 1 small pixel?

Does it just hold on to the latest backup or can you go back awhile to recover your files?For example, if a file was corrupted six months ago, will I be able to retrieve the prior uncorrupted version of it - or just the latest TC backup version of it (which would of course also be corrupted)?

Then when i run the game everything works fine (the begining cut scenes) but when the game is about to start it cuts off and an error popup comes up.

I have the original disk for this macbook.
Before someone hit a command in the terminal like: sudo chmod /0700 or something to fix something which in the end did not work.
After this I:
-Formatted the disk several times. Also overwriting everything with zeros and overwriting 7 times, which I actually skipped after 5 times
- Erased the parameter RAM holding Command, Option (Alt), P and R while starting up.
I would be grateful for any hint how I can install.

I have a Mid-2010 MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7.3, currently with the 4gb of RAM that it came with. I want to upgrade this. I am aware that there are two slots that I can use to upgrade. My question is this: the spec page for my model [URL] states that it has "4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 memory; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 8GB." Does this mean that I can have 8 total (meaning I can only add 4), or that I can add 8 gigs, making a total of 12? As far as I'm aware, the base 4 are located somewhere else inside the computer, leaving the two expansion slots empty.

I have installed Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and ran Software Update, and now I want to upgrade to Lion. I can open App Store, log in, access my account, but when I try to purchase Lion I get a message "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)". When I click OK, I get the message "Unknown Error." I really don't want to have to reinstall everything By the way, I also created a new Apple ID with a different email just to see and I get the same error.

I installed a new hard drive on my G5. Trying to boot up from my leopard install CD. I get a blue screen with two arrows and the install cd icon. Plus the "clock" going around. It's been doing that for 30 min. What is that? Just when I was starting to feel confident in my HD installing capabilities.

I have installed 512 mb ram in my white 12" ibook G3 128 mb 900 mhz. I had a really difficulty time installing it. I can't tell if it is installed in the slot totally. I read instructions from "ifixit" to install memory. Instructions said to pull clips back and slide memory into slot. I slid memory in as far as I could, and then pushed the chip down. Some of the gold teeth are still showing, and the chip isn't in straight>
If it is installed correctly, will it show up in the up in the profile, Is there anything else I need to do.

After the installing was done, it restarted and nothing works, the mouse and keyboard doesn't work its just stuck as soon as it turns on. I tried restore the partition and reinstalling windows but it still does the same thing.

Installation was pretty easy to be honest and I'm a novice with laptops.
did a clean install had to partition drive first then install OSX after doing all that I did a migration from time machine.
Something odd it booted up and my facetime app wouldnt work, got the error message that OSX was to old a version for it to work..
found it had 10.6.3 on it, thought it was odd as I did an install from the disc and my system came with 10.6.4.
so I did all the updates from software update up to 10.6.5 and now everything seems perfectly fine and lightening fast
