View 1 RepliesI've done this many times before, and I think it's just a failing drive, but I wanted to check and see if anyone had successfully worked around this problem before. I have a 16GB Transcend flash drive, and it stopped working last week. When I connect it to a computer, I get the message that I have inserted a disk that cannot be recognized. Disk Utility only recognizes the device, but no volumes (see attachment #2). When I try to format it, I get an error that says it Can't allocate memory (see attachment #1).
Anyone recognize this? I can send it back and get the drive replaced under warranty, just wanted to see if there were any other thoughts.
I was trying to back up my MacBook to a WD 1TB external drive. It has already been used on my wife's iMac running OSX Tiger. It has had no problems. When I plugged it into my MacBook, it started freaking out immediately, and slowly creating folder after folder on my desktop. Eventually I had 46 folders that were all named the name of the hard drive. I tried to repair disk, and erase disk and partition the disk - but none of them would work. With partitioning, I get the error message: Partition failed with error: POSIX report directory does not exist.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen attempting to use the Software Update, I get the following message: "POSIX Error - Cannot allocate memory." Also, when attempting to access Safari, the following message is displayed:Other suggestions previously have not worked, such as Preferences, Disk Warrior, etc.Are there any others that may be recent or ground breaking? Is it possible that Tiger is simply at the end of its lifecycle?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use the app store to do the update on Final Cut Pro. We have a slow connection at home so I leave it downloading overnight, but when I get up in the morning it says theirs an error in the pkg. Is there anyway I can download the update directly (e.g. on my faster work connection) and then take that file home to do the update?Â

I have updated 2 iMacs and 1 Macbook to 10.5.5 recently and all three of them have started giving this Time Machine error occasionally (every few days). The Macbook and 1 iMac are backing up to an AEBS disk, but the other iMac has a direct attached USB disk (both are WD MyBooks). I have never had a Time Machine error on any of these machines before. The most recent error from the iMac with the attached drives is:
1/13/09 11:20:37 AM /System/Library/CoreServices/backupd792 Error: (-43) SrcErr:NO Copying /Users/dwhitti/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#SharedObjects/2MDSQCJD/a.ooyala.com to /Volumes/Danny's TimeMachine/Backups.backupdb/dwhittingtonmac/2009-01-13-112032.inProgress/ACD16566-3746-4929-B9C9-0AE4DB0CCBE7/Macintosh HD/Users/dwhitti/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#SharedObjects/2MDSQCJD
10.6.3. When I make an alias on my desktop of a folder and then drag it to my dock it'll stick there but it will open like a folder. When I click it it will open Finder and then that alias. I want it to open like Stacks do, preferably in list mode with the flyout menus. Why can't I do this? I had it in Leopard but can't get it to work in SL. I checked all my settings and can't find anywhere to create a stack from an alias. Or from anything for that matter.

Wiki services is broken after I updated Ruby and Rails in order to install a log reading dashboard. Now when I start wiki services (via command line), I get Error Reading Settings, and a 503 error when I try to access the wiki via the web. We have content in the wiki, so I'm hesitant to just blow it away.

I have a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 Mac book Pro, I changed the hard disk once, and now when I tried to update it, it always says "An unexpected error occurred" And the only button for me is the "Restart button" (Remember, I always have my Wifi on). Is it because of the hard disk changing or because of something else?

The issue I've been having is that Safari 5.1.7 (on Windows 7) does not treat cookies as a "Session" cookie if the expiry has not been set. The date mysteriously gets set to Jan 01 2001 .... To reproduce the issue - these are the setups I tried this onÂ
Setup
1) Created a mockup webpage that creates two cookies
COOKIE_WITH_EXPIRY (expiration set to July 01 2013)
COOKIE_WITHOUT_EXPIRY (no expiration set)
2) Hosted this on ApacheÂ
Behaviour on Windows 7 + Safari 5.1.7

i am currently using snow leopard, and I am waiting for this summer to update to mountain lion. Right now, I need the a new feature of imovie for my project, so I am thinking about buying Life 11 at this moment. However, I just want to make sure that, will updating my OS X includes updating my imovie, iphoto and everything? If yes, then I probably dont need to buy Life 11 to update my imovie now/

I have done this a million times before, making me wonder if there is a limit to the number of photos that you can have in your library?(Currently, 24,637 photos) System: just upgraded to iLife '09Mac Version 10.5.6 Same camera, same process...
But won't import photos as it says there are issues writing to my iPhoto library.
I am getting this error "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)." when I try to transfer files from my Mac Mini to my External Harddrive which is connected to my Airport Extreme. " The error does not appear to happen all the time. It does seem consistent if I am transfering files and then try to transfer more.  Â
The files I am transferring are .mp4. It does not appear to care about the size of the file, it happens with small files and large files, I can transfer some large folders (2.54G). I can connect the hard-drive externally directly to the mac mini and it will transfer any file.
I am receiving an error 5.5.4 "Invalid Email address error code 17099 indicating that mail could not be sent for Account name: "Msn". I have recently moved from a PC laptop and have been sent email messages to this account on my iMac successfully for several weeks. The email address in question is actively sending and receiving messages. I can receive email from that account.

System Events got an error: Some data was the wrong type. (-1703)
The downloadable theme gallery won't show as well. This same message appears if I try to search for any themes and appears every time I type a letter or two into the search bar in the application. Is there any way to fix this? I have tried re-installation but it doesn't work.

Make sure that the printer is plugged in, powered-on, and properly connected to your computer. Then try printing again. The printer is connected via a USB Hub, but plugging it directly into the USB Port doesn't seem to help either. I've also made sure I "woke up" the printer, plugged, replugged, etc.If I mess around plugging and unplugging, it eventually will work.
