OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: The Operation Can’t Be Completed Because An Unexpected Error Occurred (error Code -8003)
Apr 21, 2012
When I try to empty my Trash with a certain app in it I get error code -8003. I can't find reference to that code anywhere and do not know how to clean up the trash. "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003)."
Info:
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.7), iMac-24, iMac-27, G5, G4, G3, iBook, etc.
I'm trying to empty the trash on my iMac (running Snow Leopard) but I just get an error message: The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code - 8003).Â
I am getting this error "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)." when I try to transfer files from my Mac Mini to my External Harddrive which is connected to my Airport Extreme. " The error does not appear to happen all the time. It does seem consistent if I am transfering files and then try to transfer more.  Â
The files I am transferring are .mp4. It does not appear to care about the size of the file, it happens with small files and large files, I can transfer some large folders (2.54G). I can connect the hard-drive externally directly to the mac mini and it will transfer any file.
I wanted to delete a file in my dekstop, but i can't delete it.. It pops out a message like this "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8072)."I have used "rm -rf" this kind of sudo, but it doesn't help. I can't even rename it also.
The disc can’t be burned because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0x8002006E). I keeep getting this when I try to burn my daughters wedding pic to a dvd. Â
The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003).The only thing in there is an old version of Clean My Mac.I was trying to clear it in prep to installing Lion.
I can't do much on my MacBook pro since I have this unexpected error occurred (error code -50), does anyone know what it is and how to fix it? Also when i try to open my iTunes it comes up with unknown error 13014.
I got this message: "The operation cant be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -1407)." each time I try to put a folder inside my external hard drive into the trash, I don't have this bug for a simple file
I get this "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003)." when i attempt to empty the trash. It gives me the option to STOP or CONTINUE. Nothing happens when I select CONTINUE.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), I-Tunes 10.4.1(10)
While trying to Securely empty trash, I get an error code -8003. The trash bin now has about 2 million files to empty. The large number of files are due to transferring numerous time machine back ups files to be deleted after a partial LaCie hard drive failure.
When I try running Software Update to install Security Update 2012-001 I get "An unexpected error has occurred" at the end of the installation process. I tried downloading the standalone installer but that fails too.
I moved the files from my external hard drive from the back up files made by Time Machine into the trash, as I've always done. This time I get an error message (error code 8003) and am not allowed to move the files back onto the drive or out of the trash, even after changing the permissions. I've searched the support forum for error code 8003, but find nothing that relates to back up files.
I've been getting the "error -36" "operation could not be completed because file "" could not be read or written when trying to backup one external firewire drive to another drive (either another external firewire, or my internal startup drive). After the error, the copy operation will hang and be impossible to cancel, forcing a find relaunch about 50% of the time.
-Disk Utility finds no problems with the disk -The filenames do not contain illegal characters -If I try enough times the problem file(s) will eventually copy, but then another file will become the problem, suggesting that the file itself is NOT actually corrupted. After successful copy, the file (an MP3) plays just fine. Subsequently, I will have trouble copying that same file again.
There are no strange noises from the HD and I can feel the vibrations from it spinning as normal. My guess is that the HD is on its last legs and is acting flaky but that the data is still OK. What can I do to rescue the data before the damn thing dies completely? Now before anyone jumps on me to UTFSE, I have searched extensively, but havent found anything that addresses my specific situation (especially the part about the files being randomly OK and not OK.
I am using Mac OS X 10.5.8. I had a program that was working perfectly, I tried to update it. Why? - I dunno myself. Anyway, now I can't open the program. When I try to delete it I get the message "sorry, the operation could not be complete because an unexpected error occurred. (Error code -61)." I made sure the program was "forced quit," but this made no difference at all. I tried to make the files "shares" files and not "locked" files in the "get info" tab, but it still doesn't allow me to delete them. Any idea of how I can get rid of this program now?
When I try to connect to folder shared by my windows computers, it says "Sorry, the operation could not be completed because of an unexpected error occurred (Error Code -41). It was still working fine yesterday.
So I've been trying all weekend to install windows 7 through boot camp. At first, due to a lack of dvds to burn the iso I have, I tried doing the whole usb thing. I got as far as the Legacy Loader screen and could not find a solution. Finally, after getting a couple of dvds I burned the iso and tried to go from there. At first I just got a completely black screen every time I tried to boot from the cd. I tried a lot of the fixed on this forum as well as countless others through which I looked. I reset the PRAM, shut off the computer and disconnected everything including the power plug, waited a while and then restarted, changed the resolution to 800x600. Well eventually I got to the point where I got the black screen but with a blinking cursor.
I waited about 5 minutes and got the this msg: Windows encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. File: BootBCD Status: 0xc000000e9 info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred Waited like 15 minutes to see if anything happens but nothing. They teased me by telling me that if I pressed enter I could continue but in fact nothing happened. I know the dvd works because I tried it on a laptop running windows and when I popped in the dvd the install menu came up.
I get this message when I open a silverlight client like seesmic desktop or microsoft facebook client. What does this mean? The operation couldn?t be completed. (OSStatus error -43.) is the message.
I have a ton of crappy on my computer and external drive, so I'm trying to erase it but the trash won't clear...I keep getting questions about removing unlocked files and then the 8003 error code. I dnt know what to do other than erase the hard drive...
I added files already, now I can't even make a new folder. I had time machine backing it up, then I excluded the hard drive. I do have Media encoder that's reading files from it currently, but that shouldn't be the issue. So confused. This error code is nowhere on the internet...
I have a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 Mac book Pro, I changed the hard disk once, and now when I tried to update it, it always says "An unexpected error occurred" And the only button for me is the "Restart button" (Remember, I always have my Wifi on). Is it because of the hard disk changing or because of something else?
I am trying to empty my trash and I keep getting the error code -8003 on a popup window with the option to stop or continue. Even when selecting continue in does no continue. Is there a way around this or another way to erase the trash.
I have deleted some Time Machine backups.backupdb folders from my backup volume into my trash and now I can't empty the trash. The volume with the backups.backupdb data was getting full and I wanted to give it more space. Now when I attempt to empty the trash on my iMac, I get the error code -8003. I have searched online and can't find a solution. Does anyone one know how I can empty my trash?
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
I just want to know how to empty my trash because I keep getting this message saying " The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occured (error code-8003) I tried looking this up and couldn't find any refference regarding it.
