Software :: "Get Mail" Button - Download?
Apr 3, 2010
On my old computer, w/Tiger, when I would click the "Get Mail" button, there was a spinner next to the Inbox that let me know that MacMail was looking for mail to download. On my new iMac w/SL, that spinner is conspicuous with its absence. I've looked through Mail Preference, but there doesn't seem to be a toggle to bring the spinner back. I can have a 'sound' let me know if there isn't any new mail, but I still would like the spinner.

I'm trying to download the new ios update for my iphone, but it's 750MB and takes a long time to download. But that was ok, because apple at least added a resume button. But now I can't get to the download screen to resume. Where is the download screen? I tried going through the store, but its not listed in the history of purchases since it wasn't actually retrieved from the store. How do I get to this screen to resume my download?

After being threatened to get hacked, I've decided to clear out all the emails on the mailserver (gmail's online mail client). But before I do, is there a way to download all the emails from my mail server from all time? I only set Leopard's Mail client up on March 8th, so I only have emails from March 8th and after on Leopard. I want to have email from since I registered my Gmail account years ago.

For some blasted reason the send button on Mail keeps getting greyed out. I try resetting from time machine backups. It will work for a few messages then become greyed out again.
When I used the Connection Doctor everything checks out as fine. My SMTP information is correct. As it has always worked in the past, works in Outlook, works in Entourage and cross checks as correct by multiple online sources and the ISP's customer service.
I have also repaired permissions.
Why would this button ever be designed to grey out in the first place? An error message after clicking would be better then a button that give no information at all.
Unfortunately this is a customers computer so I can't just swing by to check some more. The above listed steps are ones I went through before performing a time machine restore. Which worked for a while then the same problem occurred. Another Time Machine restore fixed it. Now the customer is having the same problem so I am trying to find another solution.

Before I upgraded to Mavericks, I always used to see a "Load Images" button above email messages. I don't see that anymore and some of my emails contain a question mark in place of the image. I've looked everywhere to try to find a solution but no luck.

I have an aluminum macbook running Snow Leopard. If you open mail, the main "delete" button is gone. When you pop open (double click) each email in its own window, there it is. But that is sooooo inconvenient when you have 100 emails to go though.

I just created a website for my dad using iweb 09 and published it yesterday. However, in the photos section there is a "download" button when you enlarge the image. Is there a way to delete this button or at least disable it? He is a photographer and is trying to sell his photos, this will nto work if people can download them for free on the site.

I recently upgraded from Tiger to Leopard Mail, and the save attachment button has new behavior -- used to be it would always ask which directory to save attachments to; now it automatically saves them in the download folder in the dock, and I have to drag them individually to the right folder. I can't find an option to change to the old "always ask" behavior.

I am using Mail 4.5. I used to have a Junk button next to the Delete button. I would select a long list of messages and click the Junk button. I was making adjustments in my Preferences (to stop certain filters), and must have done something to make that button disappear. Also, it seems to have stopped filtering junk. My Junk Mail preferences still show: Enable junk mail filtering, When junk mail arrives, move it to the junk mailbox, and all the rest of the boxes are checked.

I was mucking around, downloading Stationary Pack, etc., then removed to trash, then decided to retrieve it all out of trash again.. and somehow in the process, my mail will no longer SEND. I can receive mail, but cannot send mail.. the send button remains dim and will not "click" to send anything. I don't know if I inadvertently trashed some major mail execution file or what? I have all my stationary back the way it was, but my mail application (the sending part of it) no longer works. I'm not getting any error messages, it's not a server problem..I think I trashed something important.. a major function.
