Is there anyway to add or remove something to the "Go" pull down menu?

View 12 Replies View RelatedSince some time my search functions in Mail and Calendar aren't working properly. I can find my mails in the spotlight function from lion itself, but inside the mail program I get no results.
I tried several things:
1. Delete all my accounts on (is IMAP) and redownloaded them from the server.
2. Removed envelope files in Library folder mail
3. Add harddisk to privacy map on spotlight preferences and removed it (saw reindexing from harddisk)
4. Checked terminal with following command: 'sudo mdutil -s /Volumes/*', results:
/Volumes/Backups: Indexing disabled.
/Volumes/Server Data: Indexing enabled.
/: Indexing enabled.
(Backups is external network drive for backups).
(Server Data is external USB drive for data from clients)
(Server Systems is local drive, not shown in terminal ?!?)
Possible causes to problem: Reinstalled server software (and got it working properly this time), Renamed harddisk, installed back-up software named carbon copy cloner, setup VPN.

I checked the Address Book and specified I wanted the email addresses sorted by first name but it didn't change anything and Mail Mail address book didn't change either. How do I sort email addresses?
View 4 Replies View Relatedhow to establish the prioritization of the criteria against which which I want mail to sort my email. Said another way, when I click on the "from" header to sort my email, what criteria does mail use to order within that group...and more importantly how do I change it? I have attached two screen shots which demonstrate the source of my confusion. In this example, I know that William James sent me an email sometime in September or October. So I click on the "from" header and all the William James emails are lined up one after the other. Now I try to go find the ones that were send sometime in September and October, and they aren't grouped that way. The first grouping criteria seems to be whether the email was read, replied to, or unopened. So that explains why the two emails with the blue dots are at the top (I don't like it...but at least I understand it). Then all the "replied-to" emails are next. Can someone look at the entries and explain how they are organized? As you can see the dates do not line up at all...so I know the date isn't the next criteria.Once I get past the blue dot, the first email is from Nov 2010, then 2 from May 2011, then 5 from Sept 2011, then two from August 2011...so they are bouncing around. Scroll down one frame, and here are the next set of emails from William James. It now jumps from August 2011 emails to October 2011 emails and back to September 2011 emails. The "to" field doesn't seem to follow a pattern, nor does the subject.
Again, my main goal is to find out how to change it so that the date is the secondary sort criteria.I am incredibly disappointed in the lack of documentation about this seemingly obvious issue.I can't find any questions about it on the support forums, etc....so either people just live with this stupidity like I have for a year or something is wrong with my instance of mac mail.

In Purchased Items,We need a Show/Hide Button to show any Resolution from 720 to 1080p, so we may see exactly what is D/Led, and what we may have missed, or need, we don't have. At any resolution Offered from what we purchased and Deleted to save space on Drives. I have deleted all but the 1080p copies. Have I missed any 1080p from my Library I need? iTunes should be able to show this information. Select the 1080p choice and any purchase that has not been D/Led in the selected Resolution will show up in the Purchased window. *(only the resolution's selected). Also in Search we should be able to search by Resolution and Time (duaration of film)

I have several iMacs in my office with Lion and Mail 5.1. I have a user who wants to View attachments as Icons to ensure all are attached prior to sending. Unlike all the other iMacs, hers does not have the option "View in Place" and "View as Icon" when she right-clicks on the attachment.
I have found in other posts that you cannot set a defaul to ensure Icons or View in Place will always occur, and that the default depends on the type and size of attachment. I am not sure of that logic, but she can't even choose on an individual email basis. How can those options be enabled?

I have an eMachines PS/2 keyboard that I have hooked up to my MacBook Pro with a PS/2 to USB adapter. The keyboard initially receives power I know because the three lights for numlock, caps lock and scroll lock all light up when I plug it in. However, I am not able to use the keyboard at all... is there anyway I would be able to use it with a download or something?

Any way to change to the default font. Have tried changing the font in the preferences, but it doesn't seem to change that area. Cannot read what the attachments even are.

By default, the mailboxes in Apple Mail are sorted by Date Received, Oldest first. I tried sorting a few of my folders to be 'Newest First' instead, but I would have to do it for all of my folders, and I have about 150 folders.
What is the fastest way to sort all my folders to the way I want it?
And for all new folders?
Does anyone know of an easy way to search through Apple Mail to list all the messages with attachments and sort them by size? I was hoping to slim down my mail folder.
View 7 Replies View RelatedNot sure if it is me or this is just the way Apple Mail works. Logic would assume that if you select a message in Apple Mail and that message is highlighted, not opened, and you click the From column so you can sort by that column Apple Mail would make sure that, when it is sorted, the highlighted message would still be in your view. I can get this to work sometimes and other times it does not, so it is starting to bother me. Is there something that I am missing...some step...or is this just the way it works.

Someone gave me a terminal command that allowed my OS X Admin user permission to make an application alias without having to enter my user password. I've since forgotten the command and wish to use it for a new admin user since my old admin has gremlins on a number of apps but new users are not troubled in same way. I can't beleive Apple would default to requiring a password to make/edit an alias but there you go the distrurbing trend towards their total control of my desktop advances… not to mention User SysPrefs leaking over from another user for keyboard shortcuts and sounds?
