OS X :: How Do I Upgrade Gimp 2.4.4 To 2.6.10?
Sep 19, 2010G4 15", tiger 10.4.11 and have gimp 2.4.4 installed. I want to upgrade to gimp 2.6.10. Question is do I need to uninstall older gimp version before installing the new version?

May 3, 2010I have used Gimp for about one year with no issues. I updated gimp to newer version 2.6 and now I can not get past errors.
Here is the scenario, then the supporting information;
- I updated gimp, then have 'The application gimp-2.6 quit unexpectedly' error
- X11 was up to date from the MAC side, so I updated to the latest version of X11 from Xquartz, then have same gimp error AND 'The application dbus-launch quit unexpectedly'.
- I removed both with AppZapper and loaded X11 from my Apple software disc with no improvement, I still have both errors.
- I tried an older version of Gimp and it did not work (no menu bar) and I think it was 2.4.7(?)
So with apple standard X11 and fresh install of gimp 2.6 I still am unable to start gimp. Nor will X11 open when I click the icon in apps folder.

I have found out how to download the brushes and to which folder I have to drag them but when I want to drag them the computer refuses and gives the following notice:

Sep 4, 2012Every time I open Gimp 2.8 (Mac Package) and try to edit text, it crashes. I Have the same issue with Photoshop CS5. Here is the error log using Gimp 2.8:

This issue is really driving me nuts. I reinstalled PS CS5 several times, emptied font cache and check the harddisk for issues. No change at all. (aLmost) Every time I want to edit a text area in Gimp or Photoshop the programs crashes.

Jan 13, 2010I'm by no means very tech savvy. When I tried to install Windows XP (Home Edition) on my Macbook Pro via bootcamp, I experienced a bit of trouble. I partitioned the hard drive as instructed, then inserted the Windows XP installation disk and hit continue. This is when the computer more or less took over and started doing it's own thing. After a while the screen went blue and the windows install prompts were flashing across the screen. At this point I'm still thinking all is good; I accepted the terms of use etc.
However, once the install was complete, it kept asking me to insert the Windows XP Home edition CD. Even though it was already in the disk drive. I tried to hit continue but it kept taking me back to the screen asking for the disk to be inserted. Eventually I quit out of the install (upon doing so the screen prompted me the install did not work), ejected the windows install cd, and restarted my computer back into osx. Is the newest version of osx, snow leopard, not compatible with microsoft xp? Do I need to purchase vista or windows 7 if I am to run boot camp successfully?

I have seen the question posed in a few places, but no solutions. I had thought I could open the files in textedit or Word and see what the differences are, but I haven't been able to open them.

Few sites offer this service with the catch tht both sender and receiver needs to be registered with the internet service provider. I have a Pixma Pro 9000 Mark II that I have been using just as a printer, however I'm wondering about being able to use the Easy Photo Print Pro software from Canon software so that I would be able download photos to my computer? If so, what supporting program or software do I need to install first from Apple? Can I use this Canon software so that I can use the Pixma as a scanner than upload to my computer so that I can edit my photos? I'm new at Apples and Scanners, so I'm not sure that this is possible.
