Software :: ICal Leopard Not Compatible With Tiger?
Jul 10, 2008
Sprung on me today, when I first tried to sync the calendar of my work machine with home machine, the work machine being Leopard and the home machine being Tiger, "Revert Failed Database is Unchanged" This, is really annoying. I have seen the question posed in a few places, but no solutions. I had thought I could open the files in textedit or Word and see what the differences are, but I haven't been able to open them.

I still have my older Mac OsXv10.4 Tiger software. I wasn't exactly happy with Safari browser as it would block many sites and were considered incompatible so I downloaded the free Firefox browser (the 2.0 version) of which I still have. I'm aware that there is a much newer version and would like to download that, but I've heard a lot of people saying they have been having severe problems with it, but then they have PCs and not Macs. So my question is for you Mac users that use Firefox, have you had major problems with the newer version? I'm real hesitant to download if I'm going to have the same problem PC users are having...like constantly crashing. Also would my old Tiger software be compatible? I don't want to upgrade to Leopard.

Mac OS X (10.4)

SSL enabled for CalDav and Web -> iCal 3 does not connect?SSL for Web only: iCal can connect but Wiki calendars are not accesible (calendar permission is greyed out)?SSL disabled: everything is working?we run Lion Server 10.7.3 and a number of Lion clients and also a few Leopard clients.I thought that it should be possible to allow iCal 3 to connect without using SSL but I found no way doing this.It looks like the server enforces the use of SSL connections only and that iCal 3 does not support SSL.Â

My iMac is fairly old. It's one of the white ones that has the isight and mic. I don't remember the generation. For basic typing and internet needs it's still runs great! However since I updated to snow leopard I've found alot of my software isn't compatible, thus I want to revert to tiger. Atleast with Tiger my software works.

Just bought a new MacBook Pro. I set up my old Mac as a drive, hooked it to the new laptop and dragged most stuff over. However, it claims my old version of Address Book (4.1.2) isn't compatible. How can I transfer my contacts over? I tried syncing my iPhone and the contacts didn't migrate. I tried the same thing unsuccessfully with my iCal (3.0.8).

Loaded 10.6 last night and everything appeared to go well. However, when I opened iCal, ALL of my appointments, birthdays, events, etc. had disappeared. Unfortunately I had not backed up iCal before loading SL.
I have good SuperDuper backups of the system and I have Time Machine backups of everything, but I don't see a way to extract the appointment data from those.

I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard, but the computer has some hardware problems and I need to send it in for repair (it won't wake up or boot). It is entirely backed up with Time Machine, and I would like to transfer the calendar and contact data from it to my PowerBook that is running OS X 10.4.
I managed to export an icbu file (iCal) and abbu (Address Book) file from the MBP, but when I try to add them to the PB's iCal and Address Book, I get an error message. The raw data in the Library folder seem to be in a different format as well. Is there any other way to transfer the data?

Does anyone know of a list of apps updated specifically for Snow Leopard? More specifically, there is a 64-bit version of iTunes for Windows; will Apple release a 64-bit version for Snow Leopard?

I'm trying to upgrade my aging iMac to be as compatible as possible, due to Diablo 3 requiring a minimum OS 10.6.8 to operate. My current specs as below:iMac Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz. 20 Inch. 4GB Ram. 320GB HDD. Nvidia 9400M Graphics Card..Currently running 10.5.8. As previously i tried to upgrade to Lion but it says my computer is unable to process installation, I am not sure if it's because i did not upgrade from Snow Leopard. Am trying to use this current mac as long as possible because i think Apple should be introducing a new generation of iMacs soon this year.

When I attempt to upgrade my Tiger installation on my 24 inch iMac, when I get to the "Select a Destination Drive" screen during the install process, my hard drive doesn't show up.
I have disconnected any external USB drives, and I have repaired my main hard drive. Has any one had any similar problems? Any suggestions?

I'm wondering if it is possible to install different MAC OS versions (for example, having Leopard and Tiger OS X) on the same computer, as you usually do with different versions of Windows just making some partitions. Is it possible? If yes... how?

I got a G4 iMac with a 1ghz powerPC and 512MB ram for Christmas - it came with Leopard.
It's not horrible slow but you can tell it's trudging along quite choppily at times (when I try to load anything in flash or youtube it can't handle it).
Would I be better off going to Tiger? I've never used Tiger before - would my experience on Tiger be horrible compared to Leopard?

I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch of the imagination, but I've had a chain of events that leave me wondering what's going on:
First let me tell you my system: Dual G5 1.8GHz 3.5GB RAM.
Last year I could download and watch 1080i HD quicktime videos ( trailers from Apple's site ) without problems, playing at full resolution with no noticable frame dropping.
Then after a quicktime update ( don't remember which ), the performance fell down horribly to just a few frames a second for HD movies ( lower res videos still played fine ).
The next quicktime bumped up the performance back to something reasonable where I could at least "kind of" watch an HD trailer, but still there were sluggish points on most videos.
So last week I finally pony up for Leopard. Now I can watch 1080i trailers again without any problems and not a single frame drop that I notice.
What the heck??? Is this because of Leopard supposedly offloading some of the work to the video card? I think I read that it does that right?
I have actually noticed better performance all around with Leopard but most obvious is the graphics performance ( minimizing windows, dashboard, webpages etc ).

Recently my parents just bought a Macbook with Leopard on it. I own a three year old Macbook that runs Tiger. I saw this as a chance to upgrade to Leopard. I tried to install Leopard on my Macbook but it says that it can't install on my machine. I've searched various places but I've gotten vague answers. Is it because the disk is hardware specific (From what I've heard) or is it something else and I'm not getting it?

I have switched from pc to mac now for about 1.5 years and I LOVE mac! I'm still learning a ton but i was wondering if I should switch from running tiger and install leopard. I mainly use photoshop and final cut and had heard that there were some problems with running photoshop with leopard. not sure if that's true though. I would do an erase and install and start completely fresh.
