Software :: Free Program To Record Live Streams Without Using Mic?
Apr 8, 2009
I am a recovering PC user :P and was wondering if the Mac had any free programs to record live streams as they are occurring. I have this radio program I listen to, and I can record it using Audacity, but the sound quality is a little diminished but more importantly, it picks up background sounds. Is there anyway to record the actual live stream without using a microphone so that the recorded version doesn't have all that background noise??
I need to setup SoundFlower properly so that I can do live streaming of audio. I have 3 (I think) audio sources: 1) My USB headset's mic 2) The people from Skype 3) My computer's audio
I can stick all those into SoundFlower, but, when doing a live stream, they can hear everything BUT me. This is because my voice isn't actually being outputted through SoundFlower. My workaround is to use Audacity to record my USB headset's mic, and playback what I'm saying while it's recording. This works, but I'll then be hearing myself talking, and there will be a delay, which is VERY annoying.
I know how to do it on Youtube and other sites but for a live video stream I know it's a different process, but I don't know what that process is. Could you do it with Quicktime Pro? (which I own)
Can you guys direct me to a guide for watching and recording live tv over the Internet? I'd like to eliminate cable but I can't torrent everything, mainly Espn and sports games. do I need apple tv or something similar?
Alabama plays Arkansas today and [URL] is going to stream it live at their website. The game is at 2:30 p.m. central standard time. I'm not going to be here to watch the game and I no longer have satellite. We dumped it.
Is there any way for me to record it from the live stream while I'm gone?
Any programs out there anyone know about or anything already on the mac that'll do it.
There is a Live video feed today marking Carroll Shelby's wake. I will be away from computer but would VERY MUCH like to view it at a later time. I have a MacBook, and a MacMini, both of which are running latest OS.

I'm looking for a free or inexpensive, quality software program that can record and log the key strokes, web, and email usage of my family for MAC OSX. That functions invisibly. Must include remote monitoring.
I know the Mac has a screen recorder, but the problem is it doesn't record onboard audio in addition to the screen recording. I've also tried the audio recording stuff and it just doesn't work.So are there any programs out there that can record audio AND video at the same time, in one file, on the Mac? I've tried the AudioHijack and Audacity stuff, but it's impossible to sync it with the screen-recorded video
So I was attempting to back up my serato scratch and dragged the icon from the dock and dropped it into a desktop folder, and there was a "poof" sound and image display that occurred. I am trying to figure out a) what that means, and b) how to restore my original information i.e crates, songs, song descriptions, etc onto my Serato Scratch program as it was previously.
After ripping a DVD to a Mac on MacTheRipper, how would I then convert the VOB. files into MP4. files to make them compatible with iTunes so I can sync them onto my iPod.

Just bought my first iMac, and I'm trying to find a simple free home budget program. I used SimpleD Budget for Windows, and am looking for something similar. Any help would be appreciated!
I'm trying to burn some DVDs. I first burned in Finder and found out the hard way that that makes terrible quality data disc DVDs. Then I tried on iDVD, and at first it said it would only take 3 hours to burn a 1 1/2 hour movie on Professional Quality, so I was happy. But as it was encoding, it jumped to 16+ hours! So I tried again with only high quality, and it still said 8 hours, and now after 10 hours is still encoding. So, I need something else that's faster. I also need something relatively easy to learn/use. It may sound like I know what I'm talking about kind of, but I really don't and I just barely figured iDVD out. I still want it to convert into DVD quality discs (and good quality - I just got a new HDTV and would even like to try burning HD or Blu-ray discs). And I need it to be free.
So, my needs are:
#1 - FAST #2 - FREE #3 - GOOD QUALITY CONVERSIONS #4 - EASY TO LEARN/USE
I only have like 8 gb left on my macbook's hard drive. Are there any programs I can run that will defrag/free up space? How much does Apple Store typically charge to upgrade a hard drive? How easy is it to do myself?
