Apr 8, 2009I am a recovering PC user :P and was wondering if the Mac had any free programs to record live streams as they are occurring. I have this radio program I listen to, and I can record it using Audacity, but the sound quality is a little diminished but more importantly, it picks up background sounds. Is there anyway to record the actual live stream without using a microphone so that the recorded version doesn't have all that background noise??

May 18, 2012I know the Mac has a screen recorder, but the problem is it doesn't record onboard audio in addition to the screen recording. I've also tried the audio recording stuff and it just doesn't work.So are there any programs out there that can record audio AND video at the same time, in one file, on the Mac? I've tried the AudioHijack and Audacity stuff, but it's impossible to sync it with the screen-recorded video

Jul 24, 2009Allow me to explain exactly what I am trying to do: For those who don't know, there is a trend on YouTube where people post vids of themselves playing video games. These are (usually) called "Let's Plays" and I have recently gotten sucked into it. I'm currently trying to record a "Let's Play" of a PSP game. There is a way to output a PSP display to your PC using a homebrew app called RemoteJoyLite. Sadly the app is Windows only and it doesn't look like it will get ported anytime soon (I've looked into doing a port myself as the source code is out there, but it uses DX calls throughout and not sure how to convert them to OpenGL calls). I have recently gotten it to work in a VM (running Win7 x86) though.....................

Feb 23, 2010I'm going to miss the Canada-Russia Olympic Hockey game tomorrow, and I was hoping to find some way of recording the streaming video onto my computer to watch when i got home. I've managed to get the "Screen Recording" function working properly (how cool is that??) but it doesn't seem to be picking up any audio. Is there any way to do that? I tried running a simultaneous audio recording, but it doesn't recognize the audio coming in with the video as an audio feed. I'm using Quicktime X on a Dec. 2007 macbook running Snow Leopard. Is there a better way to record ths game from the site streaming the video?

-High quality capturing (720P)
-Portion of the screen capture(Not the whole desktop)
-High frames per second capture (not jerky, but smooth)
I expect to make some compromises but I'm just looking for the best software that will fit the most of my needs.

Nov 15, 2009I'm not too sure about the correct terminology but I'd like to record what's being done on my screen with iMovie using CamTwist. Reason being that I want to record myself drawing something from start to finish.
Yes, I did launch CamTwist before iMovie, but it doesn't show up in the camera drop down.
Does anyone what to do? - or even a different application that can get the job done for me.
Lastly. I know there's a sound control option on PCs that allow you to transmit what sound is being played on your computer; for example: playing a song on your computer for someone to hear on Ventrilo.

Apr 28, 2009I had a presentation today, and plugged my MacBook Pro ('06 version, and 10.4.10) laptop into a projector. Right as I did that, things went a little crazy, the audio was coming out with hissing, it was running very slow, and overall just went from running great to disfunctional. It finally froze, and I shut it off. A couple of hours later, I'm failing to get past the blue screen during the start-up. When i run in safe mode, its just shuts off while i'm holding the shift key

Dec 10, 2009I'm planning on adding how to videos to my site (flash) so that its easier for my customer to understand how to use a page. Ie instead of trying to explain common things in a FAQ I would have a video actually showing them. Ideally I'll be able to record my actions on screen and my voice as I describe what I'm doing. I'm willing to pay for the app, but just not that much ie less than $100. Now I don't need an all in one, for instance if there is a free app to do screen recording and another free app that can record my voice and another to merge them together I'm fine with that. I understand that free is free and I have to deal with some of the headaches. Any advice as to what software I would need. A quick google for mac screen recording brings a bunch of results.

Feb 8, 2012About a month ago I upgraded my computer from Snow Leopard to Lion, but now there are some features that I had in Snow Leopard that I can't figure out how to change in Lion.I heavily relied on Spaces for opening my programs and more importantly, opening up certain programs in certain desktops. I was able to go into my System Preferences and choose which program I wanted to open up in which desktop in Spaces. Now that I have Lion (and Spaces is gone) certain programs still open up in certain desktops, but I don't want that feature anymore. Am I stuck with programs opening up in those selected desktops, or is there somewhere in my computer that I can go to change that?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Desktop Icons Not Show Up Or No Program Will Launch After Login
Feb 18, 2012My Mac started doing this a few weeks ago, where after login it all kind of collapses. Sometimes the desktop icons won't show up, or Hear (which runs on startup) will get stuck loading for a long time. Sometimes everything seems fine but no programs will launch, or the dock won't respond. So far I've done an Onyx cleanup run, a Disk Verify and Repair. Permissions Verify and Repair and even did the good old Command+R on startup and reinstalled Lion. It worked the first time and then it went back to its old antics. I'm afraid if its a corrupted file and even if I get a new Mac then when I restore from Time Machine it'll carry over.
