I also get a similar message when trying to burn through the OS.
I am experiencing some problems , and want to restore my system copy I have backed up on an external HDD ( WD firewire ,Mac OS Extended Journaled ) to my Mac, in the past I made a full system copy using Super Duper, and now want to install it back on my Mac , Ive re booted while holding the option ( alt ) key and the Mac is now running from my external HDD back up copy, ive just opened up the Disk Utility ,and ive entered my external HDD in the Source box, and entered my internal HDD in the Destination, and ticked Erase destination. When I click Restore , I get this message ..

I Have a MacbookPro OSX 10.6.2 2gz intel core duo, recently i extracted a dvd burner from a crapped out dell laptop, it was the exact dimensions and looked identical to the old mac cd burner, so I installed it in my mac, and now my mac cant see the burner, When I go to "About this Mac" in the apple icon and click on disc burning it says "no disc burning device found". I wonder if theres a driver of some sort or do I have to re-install osx to get this working?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI already have an External enclosure that turned an old HDD into an external HDD (IDE to USB and a Power cable). Now, if i had an Internal DVD burner, can i plug it into my HDD enclosure and use it to burn DVDs?
I know it wont fit INSIDE the enclosure but luckily the enclosure has a back panel with all the hookups that come off completely so i could just plug it in and sit it on a desk while its in use.
Been trying to find an internal blu-ray burner drive to install on my 24 inch iMac 2.4. Does anyone know of an internal drive I can use.

I can no longer burn DVD's on my PowerPC G5 with 10.5.8, but can no longer do it as well on my Macbook Pro with OS 10.6--are all internal Superdrives now non functioning!!?? I've wasted many DVD's and no successes, just error messages and failures to burn.

So, yesterday I went to burn an audio cd in itunes. When I clicked burn I recieve a message that stated "Disc Burner or Software not found." I then went to About this mac in the toolbar and click "Disc Burning" and it states that there is no burning device found. Help would be appreciated, here are my specs

I know its there(Combo CD burner/DVD reader drive.)
The other prob is that there is a disc stuck in the drive. I have tried all the various methods to eject the disc to no avail including rebooting and holding Cmd-Opt-O-F then typing eject cd but alas I "have no cd drive"

I suspected that I have a HD problem and wanted to boot from my clone Firewire HD. Unfortunately, the computer will not boot with Firewire HD either.

I'm running Snow Leopard on an Intel iMac, everything up to date, and Disk Utility finds no error on any of the drives. I have a 1 TB external drive connected to USB (bus powered, with a power USB connection to a powered hub, so it has more than enough power). Time Machine fails with a totally unhelpful message that the backup could not be created because a folder could not be created. The external drive has 318 GB used, 481 GB available, so it's not disk space. Yesterday I repartitioned the external drive using the GUID partition scheme, creating a 750 GB Mac extended journaled partition "Time 1GB Tosh" just for Time Machine. View 1 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded Magnifique 2.1 for my Mac (Macbook, 13-inch, 2 gigs of RAM, Mac OS X 10.5). As soon as I open the application, I get an error message saying this:

The downloadable theme gallery won't show as well. This same message appears if I try to search for any themes and appears every time I type a letter or two into the search bar in the application. Is there any way to fix this? I have tried re-installation but it doesn't work.
The hard drive in my Mac crashed recently so I have installed new hardware and need to format the internal drive to re-install Leopard. But when I try to either erase or partition the drive from Disk Utility, I get the Partition Failure : Input/Output Error message. Can anyone provide any advice on a fix for this or is it a OS error that I can't get around?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen my iMac comes out of sleep (overnight), I get a "backup failure" error as the machine tries to do a backup. I try performing a backup manually and it fails as well. I tried removing the drive to have it detect again and I get another error that it cannot perform the ejection process, because it may be in use. I have to force quit/eject. After reattaching the drive, the backup performs with no problems.

I am using a Lacie LittleDisk Firewire 320GB as my Time Machine back up disk. Using Time Machine worked fine until a few months ago - there was an unnammed error; it simply says that it was unable to complete the backup and that I should try again later as it may be temporary, or, if the problem persists, repair the disk in Disk Utility. Well, the problem has persisted, and when I try to repair the disk in Disk Utility it hits an error in that too - it says it's unable to unmount the disk and so can't continue.

I used File Vault to do an drive encryption and the encryption process failed.
Now I receive the "do not enter" gray screen at startup and cannot load OS Mavericks,

Im using a 17" unibody macbookpro 2.66 early 09 to make a copy of my Leopard Disc to put in an offsite storage location.
Im able to rip movies and burn movies (DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-DL), iMovie videos, iTunes cds, rip audio discs, etc.
The media is Dual-Layer DVD-R in disk utility
I burn it at the slowest possible speed (on both systems) at 2.4x
After it writes the data to the disc and finishes, i get this lovely image:
I tried doing a test install of it from the burned dvd and it installed fine.... = what the huh!?
its done this twice.
using the same media on a 15" 2.2ghz uMBP late 2008 gives me a completed successfully notification every-time.

When I am using Safari and on yahoo and trying to use Fantasy Sports I get Internal server error when I click on my team. I have reset safari and tried firefox but the same thing occurs. On my other computer it works just fine.

I keep getting this error when trying to erase an external hard drive with Disk Utility. When I restart, the error appears again. I've seen others with this problem but haven't found a solution. I've tried removing iTunes from Applications and deleting select iTunes receipts.

An Internal Messages error occurred.
There was a problem with Messages. You need to quit and open Messages again.Â
The mouse still moves, but the rest of the OS is totally frozen. I try to click on the Quit button in the error message dialog, but that does nothing.
There is no reaction to keyboard presses. The only solution is to hold down the Power button until the computer shuts off.Â
