The computer starts just fine, with the bong sound within seconds the computer shuts down. Is it a PSU problem? I need to be sure, before ordering a replacement. The computer is pretty old, G4 MDD.

Shutdown used to be a few seconds on my MBP Mid 2009 but some time a go (I haven't associated it with any upgrade or software install) it became rather slow (60-90 seconds). I tried a few solutions but haven't made any progress. The problem I see is that all log messages appear in first 10 sec of shutdown and then it's quiet time. Screen first goes gray for about 20 sec, then spinning wheel appears for another 40 seconds after which restart happened.Â
The only HW changes I did to the MBP are upgrade to 8 GB of RAM (long time ago) and replaced HDD with Samsung 840 EVO SSD (half a year ago).Â

i have with my Mac Pro. When i'm watching videos on youtube on full screen, the computer starts freezing and crashes. it happens almost all the time. and not just streaming, today the computer froze just during checking a website without any "moving" elements.Â
i bought the computer around april 2014, it is a 6-core MacPro with 16 GB RAM, two AMD FirePro D700 video cards.it runs on OSX 10.9.4.two displays are connected over thunderbolt.Â

My MacBook Pro will not start. It chimes and the gray progress bar starts and then the computer shuts off. I am able to start it holding the Command +R keys and access Disk Utility. View 3 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my 27" iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 duo from 4GB of ram (2x2GB) to 8GB of ram (2x4GB). I followed the instructions and removed the old ram, put in the new ram and after many restarts my computer finally came up. When it did finally come up I had the spinning wheel of death. When the screensaver came on, I heard my skype connect and I moved my mouse and wouldn't you know my computer was working! So to test to see if my computer would work again, I restarted. Same thing - came right up to spinning wheel - screen saver turned on after 30 minutes and again - Skype connected and no more spinning. Memory on Activity Monitor is looking great - but my computer is useless until the screen saver starts.

I am trying to fix a friends macbook pro. When I turn it on the screen shows the apple and the spiral underneath it spinning like it should then when it stalls for .2 seconds it goes to a white screen then there is vertical purple lines in groups across the screen. So the screen is white/purple. Then it fades to just white and I cant do anything.
I hooked up my monitor with a DVI cable to see if it was the motherboard that was possibly bad but the monitor works just fine with the cable. I can use the computer with the laptop keyboard/mouse and it works just fine. The laptop screen just stays blank the whole time. I uploaded a vid to utube for it. If anybody has any ideas for me please help. I dont know if this is a monitor problem or the inverter or the motherboard, possibly some other piece of hardware?

I have a PowerBook G4 with a Matshita DVD-R UJ-825 drive. When I insert a Memorex ultraspeed CD-RW (24x, 700 mb, 80 ming), the computer spits it out after a few seconds. Any way to resolve this? I haven't tried using other types of CD-RWs and have used Memorex CD-Rs in the past with no problems.

Then if you click the mouse it will come back on. This cycle repeats itself every 5 seconds. Only one time in the past month did it turn on normally and run for me.

I've got limited hard drive space. In gmail, I keep my inbox pared down to just a few emails I'm actively working on (ie 3-10 emails at a time). Everything else gets archived. However, when I try to set up Mac Mail for gmail (as described on 50 different websites), my computer starts downloading thousands of emails - my sent mail, anything I've tagged, etc. I don't want all this. I just want the few active emails (my inbox) at any one time.
I've tried mapping folders in Mail (ie Use this folder for....), but can't seem to pare it down to just the inbox.

My family just recently upgraded from an old PC to this 27" iMac, during the early part of the summer. While using it over the last little while, I would notice a noise that sounded like a harddrive spinning or possibly some sort of a fan noise. The best way to describe it would probably be as digital noise. It's not incredibly loud, but it's a decent volume, and can get quite annoying. It has a little bit of a squeak to it.
Over the last little while, it's become more constant. When the computer is in use, it'll usually occur quite often. It's quite annoying and obtrusive when I'm watching videos and I'd like to know what it could be.I think our computer is still under warranty, so I'm hoping to find out if it is something wrong, so I can get it replaced.
I've also been wondering if it's a fan, or a regular noise. However, it's so constant that I'm starting to wonder. The other night, I was watching a video and it seemed like it was coming on every 30 seconds for a long span of time. We don't run any memory heavy programs on this computer. If anything, we're just using Firefox, iTunes and/or Messenger. Sometimes Office. There's little to nothing stored on this computer, as it's brand new, so most of its memory is free.
I cant seem to figure out how to get Quicksilver to Restart, Shutdown, and sleep computers. It is enabled on one computer, but not the other. Is it a plugin? or a radio button I have to check off?
