Mar 1, 2012I have a Macbook (late 2011) 15" 2.2 i7 pro. I noticed this after upgrading my RAM with 2 x 4gb Corsair DDR3 1333MHZ Ram (stock 2 x 2gb)Upon closing the macbook lid, the computer would goto sleep (the pulsing heartbeat light would be on). The problem is, if the macbook was in sleep mode for an extended period of time (I've tested and something over 15 minuites) the computer would shutdown. I have tried searching for similar problems and unable to find something exactly the same. I have reset the SMC and PRAM but this problem is still there.Obviously it would sound like the RAM but I am having no problems doing anything with the mbp, the only thing is this sleep turned into shutdown problem.

PowerPC :: G4 Shutdown After 10 - 15 Minutes When Turned On
May 5, 2010I just obtained an Ibook G4, it was my cousins, and it had crashed, so weeks later he gave up and bought a IMac. Anyway, the Ibook will turn on, boot up like normal. I had it turned on for about 10-15 minutes, and it just powers off. I had it plugged in, and it obtained about 11% battery, so I don't think it dies from battery shortage. Something I did notice, the battery charger cord, from wall to brcik is a 250V wire, while the brick it self needs about 100Volts. It isn't the cord that came with the Ibook. Could this cause the Ibook to shut down?

Jun 27, 2014Shutdown used to be a few seconds on my MBP Mid 2009 but some time a go (I haven't associated it with any upgrade or software install) it became rather slow (60-90 seconds). I tried a few solutions but haven't made any progress. The problem I see is that all log messages appear in first 10 sec of shutdown and then it's quiet time. Screen first goes gray for about 20 sec, then spinning wheel appears for another 40 seconds after which restart happened.Â
The only HW changes I did to the MBP are upgrade to 8 GB of RAM (long time ago) and replaced HDD with Samsung 840 EVO SSD (half a year ago).Â

Jun 29, 2012I am using a Mac Mini with a Realtek USB wireless dongle to connect to the internet. The software and drivers appear connected perfectly and i see the wireless utility and I can access my wireless network, which says signal strength 100%. I connect to it and it accepts the wireless key. Says connected. Then after a few seconds the connection is lost and it says 'Disconnected'. A few seconds later it connects then disconnects and this continues indefinitely but Safari never allows me to access any webpages.Â

Sep 8, 2006My system has randomly shut down twice now in the last two days. Dual G5 2.3. I checked the console log, which I know very little about, and it said this:

Two questions-
what's the -122 code mean?
Do you think resetting the PMU would be the solution to this?
MacBook :: Not Booting Up Instead 3 Beeps?
May 2, 2009My Black Macbook will not boot up. Instead it rests at the gray screen and does 3 beeps. I have done research and it is supposed to indicate a RAM problem but my RAM [i believe] is fine, I even rechecked the slots and everything. This has happened before but I just rebooted and it worked fine but now it is not. I tried plugging in my Mac into different power outlets and even having it run without being plugged in but it fails to make a difference. I have scheduled a genius appointment and I know my macbook is older than a year so i'm wondering a few things: how can I get them to replace my Macbook, how can i get them to fix the problem [for free] even if my warranty has run out, if they don't replace it [which i heard they should do] what is my best option [buying a new one is outta the question for financial reasons]

Mar 12, 2012My Macbook Pro battery had run down (it does quite a bit) so I rebooted with the power inserted.
I get a frozen screen saver which is normal, while the progress bar finds it feet back on power.
However this time, I had the frozen screen saver, and a continuous 3 beeps which I've never had before in a loop? I then re-pressed the power switch on the Macbook and it rebooted fine and seems ok.
This i7 is coming up to its first year (which I think is covered by Apple?) and I *think* this maybe a memory issue? If it is, and my Mac is covered, then by a sheer stroke of luck, I decided to get Apple to fit the 8GB memory at the time of purchase (bad I know! and I don't usually do that) BUT that would mean that Apple fitted the memory upgrade and I haven't touched anything myself.
I then booted up this morning with a full battery and the boot up took a lot longer than normal - maybe around 3 minutes on the spinning logo, and then finally booted - are these all worrying signs?

May 6, 2012I am coming from a PC world and I am starting to get frustrated with this problem. I have had my Macbook Pro 15in for about a year. It is an early 2011. For the past two months I have been having the 3 beeps on start up. I have been to the genius bar about 6 times already. They have replaced my RAM twice, replaced my logic board and finally replaced my hard drive. It is STILL doing it. I don't know what else I should do. Please any more suggestions the next time I go to the genius bar?

Feb 27, 2012I'm working on a Macbook pro 15 A1278 for a friend. They were given the computer by someone who didn't want it. My friend did not have the password to get into the machine and no original system disc. I thought this was going to be an easy case of erase-and-install. So I attempted to boot from my own Snow Leopard DVD, then I started getting three beep errors. Now I can't get as far as the password screen any more. Computer starts with normal chimes, then when it gets to the grey screen with the Apple, I get the "three beeps". Bought new ram, put it in, reseated it a bunch of times, still three beeps every time.Attempting to restart using the system DVD by holding the C key, same problem. DVD spins up but then three beeps. Fired the machine up as a target disk and ran disk utility via remote control from another machine, we''ll call that one "machine B". Hard drive checks out with no errors and is formatted in Extended Journaled. Did a clean system install from machine B (while still in target disk mode). System install was a success and was able to restart machine B successfully from the hard drive of the faulty machine.Â

Mar 9, 2012This morning, when I got into work I restarted my Late-2010 MacBook Air (128 GB HD, 1.86 GHZ Core-2 Duo, OS X 10.7.3) while holding down the "option" button as I normally do to access bootcamp and load Windows 7 because I need to use Excel Macros during the work day. Â What was unusual, however, was that it immediately started beeping loudly when I held down the option button and continued to do so without ceasing. It beeped 3 times, stopped, beeped 3 times, stopped etc. Â
The fans started running pretty quickly and I held down the power button and it finally shut down. I restarted and held down the "option" key again, booted into Windows 7 fine, and have since rebooted into OS X as well without issue. It's the first time that I've heard this beeping except when I installed a firmware update a few weeks back. I've done a bit of research and it sounds like it's indicative of a RAM issue but want to see if anyone knows for sure. I think it's strange that it did it once but hasn't again despite numerous restarts and also strange that it happened immediately upon hitting the "option" key when the screen went dark, as I always do.Â

Jun 2, 2012I have a brand new Macbook Pro (Christmas 2011), and today it was installing updates. It stated that it needed to restart to complete the updates, so I confirmed it. It shut down fine, but then didn't start up again on it's own. I waited for about an hour before manually starting the computer by pressing the power button. It did the opening chime and then the logo screen came up, but then it started a series of beeps along with blinking battery light (it is fully charged). It froze on the logo screen and continued to beep for a half an hour before I forced it to shut down (control+command+power button).
I tried restarting it in safe mode (holding the shift button down during startup), but it only resulted in the computer freezing on the logo screen for about five minutes before shutting itself off (no beeping or light that time, though). I went through my instruction manual as well as online searches to see if maybe I could somehow restore the computer to factory settings. I can get it to get into the Disk Utility section (holding down the option button during startup), but I'm absolutely terrified of erasing something I shouldn't.

Sep 29, 2010I have used a Macbook Pro from 2007 and have now recently bought the all new 17 inch Macbook Pro.
Something that really annoys me (and my ears) in the new MBP is the crystal clear sound of the Macbook pro speakers when i hit the Volume up or down key on my keyboard. The sound is just too treble and so loud and it gets even worse when i put headphones on and turn down the volume its even more deafening.
Anyone think the same?
Is there a way to solve this problem?

Feb 23, 2008Is anyone else having problems using their headphones with the Macbook Air? My Shure E500 headphones have a loud hiss and instead of playing music properly, the music is filled with odd bleeps and bloops. I have a similar problem with my Etymotic headhones. I *think* the standard iPod headphones worked fine, but I no longer have them on hand to test.
