MacBook Pro :: Computer Starts Bar Completes Half Way And System Shuts Down?
Sep 3, 2014
Starting abnormally, Like when I start my MacBook pro which is almost new. A bar runs on the white screen and then when it reached half way system shut down. Any way to reset my computer.
Also, when I am going to option, the system doesn't allow me by saying hard disk is locked.
Info:
MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
Macbook pro intel core duo. My macbook is turned off, when I press the power button the light goes on and the computer starts making sounds of turning on for about half a second and than shuts off. I tried removing the battery and putting it again, I tried to hold the power button (the light flickers at one point and eventually shuts off as well after 2 seconds), and tried turning it on with the adapter plugged in and unplugged.
My MacBook Pro will not start. It chimes and the gray progress bar starts and then the computer shuts off. I am able to start it holding the Command +R keys and access Disk Utility. That is where it says my S.M.A.R.T. drive is "failing". I have a backup from Time Machine from a week ago. I am concerned the computer is going to die. What should I do and is my computer going to die?.
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), 8GB RAM
Just wondering if anyone has ever encountered this or if any experts out there know of the issue.
I have a spare White Macbook (late 2008: Core 2 Duo 2.1GHz, 1GB, 120GB) that I'd like to set up for my brother to use to introduce him to the wonderful world of Macs. The problem it is having is that when I have a battery connected to it (I tried 2 different ones included a known-good one that is brand-new just purchased from Apple) it powers on and gives me the chime, but then immediately shuts off unexpectedly giving that little "whine" sound like if it just lost power all of a sudden. However, when i take out the battery, and just plug it into the Magsafe AC charger it works fine. Also when just trying to run on battery it does not turn on at all. Here's some cliffs:
1) Macbook with just battery does not turn on 2) Macbook with battery + Magsafe AC charger connects powers on, gives the chime, but then immediately shuts off making the "whine" sound as if the power was suddenly cut off 3) Macbook with no battery connected and just the Magsafe AC charger connected works fine.
Do you guys think this is either:
A) battery connector issue (the little piece with the metal wires that the battery connects to. ~$50 part) B) Logic Board issue
I already tried resetting the PRAM and SMU to no avail.
My battery needed replacing for a couple of months before i dropped it from about knee level onto a sidewalk. After the drop I got the not charging icon. I thought maybe the battery had just finally died. so I did not panic about the no charge. The laptop works fine when plugged in to power with the old battery on or no battery at all. Not at all when unplugged.
When I put the brand new battery on the lap top, the computer shuts down halfway through boot up. I tried holding the power button down through boot up reset, as well as removing all power (plug and battery) and holding down the power button for 10 seconds reset.
I have an old g4 , the kind shaped like half a golf ball, which starts up and then quits at different places during the process. Sometimes with the gray screen and Apple logo, sometime later when the OS has fully installed, but fails quite rapidly after that. Then tries to reboot itself with varying degrees of failure.
I have a 2009 iMac with SSD drive and 2TB drive. For the last 6 months, I'd get kernel errors every now and again, and I would reboot and things would be fine. A few days ago, the computer totally froze, and when I turned it on, it would shut right off. I tried booting to recovery partition, nothing worked. I took it to the apple store yesterday and they hooked it up to an external drive and then did a diagnostic test and the genius said it needed a fresh install of lion, that something was corrupting it. So we did that (for some reason though, it took about 4 tries for him to get it), and then I took the computer home and ran time machine.
Every thing worked as it should for about 12 hours, I did reboot a few times in that time. Anyways, now, it's back to where it was where I turn it on, there's a status bar on the bottom that fills about halfway and then the iMac shuts down. The apple genius said that a corrupt program/application might be causing that. I find this hard to believe ... I can understand a corrupt program crashing or not starting, but is it possible for that to not allow the computer to even turn on? The other thing is that when the computer crashed a few days ago, I hadn't installed anything new/etc .... ???
I can turn on my mac, the beach ball starts spinning and stays spinning for awhile, finally starts up but then quickly shuts back down? I have never encountered this type of problem with my desktop before! I have checked all the power supplies and reset the powercord, I unplugged the computer and tried to reboot it to no avail. Does anyone know how to do the type of reboot where you hold down the power button and two keys (?) wait for the 2nd chime then let go of the keys? I believe that is how it's done.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.1), operating system- not 100% sure?
My newest discovery is that when my computer freezes up what ever sound is playing makes a skipping noise and then I have to kill power to shut off what is the cause or how can I find out is there any log I can run or check to see the last action process that went on?
Recently I bought a MacBook Pro 13", once I open it, it starts with 40C processor temperature, hitting 70 after sometime and stays there, and when I run an application it hits 80-90C? Is this normal! Whats the maximum temperature of my 2.53 processor!
Whenever i plug the power cord into my mac book pro my computer never starts to charge? I have tryed this on various different outlets and have also tryed thsi with the two and three pronged adapters and it still is not working.
MacBook Air randomly shuts down whether plugged in or on battery power but not when hooked up to a monitor and using bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Battery fully powered.
I was trying to install windows on my pro, and i had bootcamp chop the hard disk in half, but then my disk drive didnt read the cd so i had to download and install some file. and after i restarted i could no longer access the windows side, it just disappeared.....plus i cannot reset my hard disk, cant erase it, and i cant reinstall OS X because there is no memory left..
I am trying to fix a friends macbook pro. When I turn it on the screen shows the apple and the spiral underneath it spinning like it should then when it stalls for .2 seconds it goes to a white screen then there is vertical purple lines in groups across the screen. So the screen is white/purple. Then it fades to just white and I cant do anything.
I hooked up my monitor with a DVI cable to see if it was the motherboard that was possibly bad but the monitor works just fine with the cable. I can use the computer with the laptop keyboard/mouse and it works just fine. The laptop screen just stays blank the whole time. I uploaded a vid to utube for it. If anybody has any ideas for me please help. I dont know if this is a monitor problem or the inverter or the motherboard, possibly some other piece of hardware? I have a MacBook Pro with the 9600gt in it. Since updating to 10.6.4 this morning 2 times while playing java games i've had the bottom half of my screen go black and most of the top half flicker. I've had to hold in the power button and reset both times. The second time I closed the screen and reopened it, the screen was black but no mouse and nothing moved.
Any advice? Would this be something to do with my graphics card or possibly some error in 10.6.4?Edit:: This is software related to 10.6.4 update and only happens when I open up a java game in a browser.
I've got a four year old Macbook Pro 17", running 10.5.8 OSC, 2.33 ghz, 3gb 667 mhz ddr2 sdram.
The power cord was unplugged, although the battery was fully charged. I plugged in my Canon printer for the first time in over a year. It printed half a document, then the computer shut down. I pushed the power button and got the start up chord, but then it shut down again. Tried this a few times. Then I unplugged the printer and plugged in the power chord. it started, but it's very slow, and I keep getting the pinwheel.
Recently my MBP retina late 2012 started crashing with the screen going all black leaving the keyboard lights on. I had to force it to restart. After a couple of attempts I could finally access the computer for about 10 min before it crashed again, during which i could see the logs. As of know it has been on for 1 hour without any issues but when I run some more hardware-intense programs it crashes. Since i bought the computer from a private person without insurance im not entitled to the 3 year warranty.
Ok the patient here is a new 2.0 Ghz Macbook. I just woke it up- or tried to. the sleep light was on solid, not pulsing with as it does when sleeping. It didn't respond to key presses of track pad presses. It did power back on after pressing and holding the power key. The desktop was greyed out and a metered progress bar came up and it slowly booted bakc up then resumed as normal. Is this that deep sleep mode, or is this something else?
I installed the windows 7 64 bit home premium in my mac pro but drivers are not installed. When I am trying to download the drivers through boot camp, it shows "downloading windows software.." and the progress bar never completes. How I can download win7 drivers?
Today something strange happened to my macbook pro. I turned it on, and when I went to check for updates the new update was available, so I clicked it.
Once it completed at the app store, it restarted and a whire screen with the Apple logo appeared and a bar.
Literally the bar only completes like 25% of its shading and then it shuts off.
i have with my Mac Pro. When i'm watching videos on youtube on full screen, the computer starts freezing and crashes. it happens almost all the time. and not just streaming, today the computer froze just during checking a website without any "moving" elements.
i bought the computer around april 2014, it is a 6-core MacPro with 16 GB RAM, two AMD FirePro D700 video cards.it runs on OSX 10.9.4.two displays are connected over thunderbolt.
The computer starts just fine, with the bong sound within seconds the computer shuts down. Is it a PSU problem? I need to be sure, before ordering a replacement. The computer is pretty old, G4 MDD.

I tried to install a larger hard drive in my mac mini pps version. Everything seems to be alright but after a few miniutes the computer gets hot on right side and then it shuts off .I have shut it down and wait untill I hear from you
At the beginning of last year I bought a 3.2GHz 27" iMac. About a month ago I noticed that, within about 5 minutes of starting my computer back up from sleep the left half of the screen would flick and become darker than the lower half (about 4 clicks of the light button lower). Sometimes the screen will flick to become even darker than this (but usually it returns to the 4 clicks darker after a short while), and sometimes it returns to normal only to go darker again.
