I am using OSX 10.9.3 on mid 2011 Macbook Pro. I am working in Apple mail and e-mail thru a google account and a pop3 account.
My question is: How do I stop, copies of my (as I am) composing e-mail, from showing up in the mail trash. I can have as many copies in the mail trash as the number of words in my message. I have looked thru the mail, apple support (non fee based) and thru FAQ in communities.
This started yesterday. Every time I use my notebook the fan is on. What's wrong?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy machine has 64 Gig RAM, 3.5 GHz 6-core Intel Xeon, and my main drive is a RAID consisting of 4 SSDs. What I notice is that the user response time (for opening new Finder windows and such) is slower when the Time Machine is backing up. It's not stuck - it backs up properly, but my user interface experience gets laggy when it's active. This didn't used to happen even on a much lower-spec machine (both were using WD external USB hard drives for the Time Machine backup). What can I do to keep the TM from slowing things down? I don't want to back up less frequently - I want the high specs of the expensive hardware to give me a wait-free workflow even while backing up, and I'm hoping there's a software-side solution to that. I know it's possible, since my old 10.6 Mac Pro machine didn't do that, and I would think with the good hardware, it should be faster.

How to restore a file from the Time Share volume of one mac to a different mac.
I have 2 machines: macbook pro & mac air both both running latest mountian lion. Each keeps its own time share volume on a network server. The two have some sync'd shares, but in general, they are not fully sync'd.
the macbook pro is in the shop for repair for a few days and I'd like to fetch some of it's files from its time machine backup onto the macair. I'm a little reluctant to simply fire up Time Machine on the mac air and respecify it's storage volume to be the macbook pro's volume. I'm concerned about internal configuration changes Time Machine might make to the mac air, including making changes that might cause it to have to do a full (not differential) back up when I reconfigure the mac air's Time Machine to use it's own backup volume after I'm done getting files from the macbook pro backup volume.
In addition to simply getting access to some of the files of the mac in the shop, I want to get the mac calendar from that machine and use it on the mac air. I understand that this may be somewhat trickier.

My iPhoto is constantly loading..and I can't look at my library. I've tryed holding the "alt" and "command" buttons, then clicking iPhoto..then selecting "repair photo library". But it's STILL loading. I can't use it or see any of my pictures. Don't know if it was a corrupt file I downloaded or what..

I used to work on Windows normally without any problem but recently when I press the switch button on the mac so I can choose the Windows HD my computer restarts, it tries to load windows but ends restarting, I thought that maybe the partition died or something but I can see that everything is still in it's place ( From mac I click on Windows HD and I still see it's content)
View 11 Replies View RelatedFor the last few months, my MP has had a strange quirk. When I select Shutdown, the computer restarts instead. Then, at the login screen, I select shutdown and it will then turn off. I've tried disconnecting all USB and Firewire connections (except keyboard and mouse) with the same results. It does seem to be time related. For example, if I start up the computer, get to the desktop and then shutdown, it turns off no problem. However, after its been running for a bit it will do the restart thing instead.

Last Monday I attached a freshly erased 2TB Time Machine external HD to a Mac Mini with 400GB of data on the internal 1TB HD with no exclusions. I left the Mac Mini off network -- no wifi, no ethernet -- and did not use it for one full week. Today the 2TB Time Machine HD has only 35GB of free space.
Why is Time Machine filling up the HD with incremental backups when the computer is not in use?
I operate a small business, and need to keep an archive of all email on my computer for at least one year (not on the cloud, as I live on a small island and our internet service is sporadic). I prefer to manually delete all email after 12 or 13 months. It seems like Apple Mail no longer allows this?

All **** broke loose, ended up starting from scratch. Have done now 10 times.
Everything seems to be working fine, i'm getting emails through etc. But, next to my Gmail mailbox is the constant loading circle; either the Pie or the Spinning spokes thing.
The loading circles change every time i open Mail, although they are CONSTANTLY there and won't budge -

What does this mean? Im so frustrated because i had Mail up and running fantastically before the attachment mishap, now its refusing to go my way. It functions fine from what i can tell, just the loading circle (both instances) is getting on my nerves!
Using iMovie and got a (-50) error and ran Disk Utilities to see if everything was okay. Unfortunatly it wasn't and recomended that I hold down the command and r key while doing a restart. When I do this, the Apple logo comes up, but then switches to an icon of a circle with a diagonal line through it and then I get a kernel panic shortly after. how my App Store purchesed lion can run disk utilities in protected mode?

I really don't think it should take OVER 12 hours to STILL be "Configuring". I called Apple, and the representative told me that I might need to install safari, but, it won't let me. Heh, I don't know what the problem is. I have an iMac G5 with 57.21 GB on my it. Does anyone know of any solution for this issue?

The computer randomly restarts every once in a while and gives me an error when it reboots saying that there was an issue. When I log in, I choose to report the issue to Apple and it shows me what it will send. I see that it says there was a GPU Panic, which I have seen on other mid-2010 MacBook Pros after updating to 10.9. The computer now is restarting within 10 minutes of me logging into it, rendering it completely useless.
I will not tolerate a $1,500 computer restarting every 10 minutes because of an error on Apple's part. They allowed me to upgrade without giving me any sort of a warning that bad things could happen.

It restarted itself about 4 times in 10 minutes just now. Twice it has restarted as soon as the previous restart completed, before any programs have been launched, and with no peripherals plugged in. Other times it has spontaneously restarted with only Safari open, and with Illustrator CS open. Any ideas about what might be happening? Anyone had this issue? Could this be related to software? Or the 1 gig RAM module I installed?

My MacBook Pro will not start. It chimes and the gray progress bar starts and then the computer shuts off. I am able to start it holding the Command +R keys and access Disk Utility. That is where it says my S.M.A.R.T. drive is "failing". I have a backup from Time Machine from a week ago. I am concerned the computer is going to die. What should I do and is my computer going to die?.
