OS X :: Notes Won't Delete In Mail?

Jul 20, 2009

So I've recently migrated back to Mail after a long hiatus and set up my Gmail account with IMAP. I like Mail 3.0, but one bug could be a deal breaker for me:I don't like the notes feature and don't plan to use it. However, there are four mystery notes that keep reappearing in my Reminders. I don't remember creating them, and whenever I delete them they reappear about 5 minutes later. They are all blank and always have the same timestamp, too. Where are these notes coming from? Why won't they stay deleted? It's very frustrating.

OS X :: Cannot Delete E-mails From My Mail?

Sep 15, 2009

I'm a newbie to Mac and need some help. I find that the pre-installed 'Mail' is rather convenient but have trouble deleting e-mails I no longer need. Upon deleting selected mails and emptying the trash, I find that some items are STILL there when logging into the actual website (i.e. Gmail). E-mails that I thought were long gone are still there. Please someone help? I think I'm missing something.

Software :: Mail Won't Let Me Delete Emails?

Feb 27, 2009

I have a problem deleting several emails from the Trash Folder in Mail. All of them are me.com emails.
Around the time this happened I had a problem with my Apple Base Station so maybe it has to do with my losing the internet a short time but there are 7 emails greyed out that I simply cannot delete. I press delete and nothing happens. Any idea how I can get rid of these? Any other emails I get I can simply delete.

Applications :: How To Delete Mail From Server

Feb 24, 2006

So, similar to use on a PC, I have my POP3 accounts setup so that any computer that I download mail to, and then DELETE this mail from the deleted items folder, it will update the server and not show it for download to OTHER computers or clients that I use to access the POP3 account.

but, on the mail.app program, I cannot seem to find this very common setting. Is it somewhere that I am missing?

OS X :: Mail Not Allowing Me To Delete Messages?

Oct 28, 2007

2.16 GHz Intel C2S, 1GB RAM, bought in July.

Just Archived & Installed about 2 hours ago, and everything looks fine so far. No installation problems (though I was food shopping and by the time I came back things were fine).

However, the first weird quirk I found was that when I attempt to delete one of my inbox messages in Mail, it won't let me delete. I get this error message:

"The message "(e-mail subject name)" could not be moved to the mailbox "Deleted Messages - AOL Mail. The IMAP command "UID COPY" (to Deleted Messages) failed for the mailbox "INBOX" with server error: UID COPY failed Deleted Messages: no such mailbox."

Applications :: Mail.app - Can't Delete Mailbox

Jan 31, 2008

I have a Mailbox that I want to delete from Mail.app.

I can right click it, select delete. And it gives the warning. I select OK and it does nothing. I have tried it through the menu system too, and the same result.

Any idea how to delete the mailbox? The deal is I set it up to an email that I cannot access via POP and it is constantly trying to access it but can't, obviously.

Software :: How To Delete JPG Attachments To Mail

Aug 25, 2010

I have just searched through all the jpeg pictures on the computer (more than 10,000of them) and noticed there were photos that had been attached to emails. These emails had been deleted but the photos still remain in various folders in library/mail/account/ bin or similar. There are hundreds of these folders and sub folders all containing pictures from mail that was deleted. They are from both GMail and .Mac mail. Does anyone know how to ensure these images are deleted when the mail message they are contained in is deleted. I am using Apple Mail, Entourage and Thunderbird but the problem seems to be confined to the way Apple Mail organises mail folders.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Why Can't Delete Mail

Mar 5, 2012

for some reason, I can no longer delete email in apple mail (v4.5). I can drag it over to the Trash folder, but when I simply click delete, it says a sub-folder within my deleted mail folder "does not allow messages to be moved to it." Interestingly there are also two sub-folders within that folder - "on my mac" and the name of my mail account.

After deleting a message the already read message above becomes selected instead of the unread message below.  How do I change this?  I have changed the sort by field to assending and decending.  I looked at my husbands mail and it does not do this. I do not see any preference options to fix it.To recap, I want to start at the top of my new messages and if I want to keep a message I will go to the next unread one and delete that one without the one I want to keep becomeing the targeted message

Can't Delete Mail Account In Leopard

May 7, 2012

She was having mail issues (passwords etc) so rather then messing with all the random settings I decided to delete the account and then re-enter it so it auto-fills everything. Only problem was that when I hit the delete button it removed the account and all the stuff from the inbox etc but then popped up a messages saying something like "are you sure you want to do this as deleting everything will be lost". Something along those lines. I wasn't sure what it was talking about so I hit cancel to stop it.

Now it seems to be gripping onto that mail account half way. I can close the email program and reopen and then account shows up again in the list of accounts. If I remove it (no messages pop up) then it disappears and about 10 seconds later I get a popup message saying that the mail accounts password is wrong? Though there is no accounts listed and I've even deleted all the passwords from keychain etc. If I enter a password it does nothing (I know I have the right password). Then, if I close mail and reopen the account is listed in the preferences again automaticly? I keep deleting it but it keeps popping back in but with no emails etc and a bunch of password etc popups bugging me. I can't seem to ADD the account again either as it just comes up with an error I think because that account is halfway in the mail app somehow. Is there anyway to manually remove any trace of this account from the mail app or something so that I can re-add it fresh?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Can't Delete Emails In Mail App

Jun 20, 2012

I have emptied the Trash and set preferences for all my email accounts so that emails are permanently erased on quitting Mail.I also selected Rebuild from the Mailbox pull-down menu. I bought an email archiving program called MailSteward. When I run it, it pulls in many thousands of emails that I have already deleted from Mail. This is no good at all!The programmer of MailSteward

(By the way, MailSteward does not go online to find emails: it just looks on my computer. Also, these supposedly deleted emails were sent to my mac.com account and my gmail account, so it's not .Mac or gmail that's the problem.)

MacBook Pro :: Mail 5.3 Won't Delete Emails

Jun 4, 2014

I have been using Mail for years with no problem but all of the sudden it will no longer delete emails. I have 3 email accounts gmail, comcast, icloud

When I delete an email it disapears - BUT - then it magically reappears in Mail.

When I delete emails they also do not go into the trash folders.

I am having to log on individually to all three email accounts and delete messages from their interface. Total waste of my time.

I have looked at the settings in preferences - behaviors and I have checked "Move deleted messages to the trash mailbox" I did not check "Store deleted messages" I selected permanently erase deleted messages when "one week old".
