When I open my mail app and delete a message, it deletes it from my mail app inbox. When I log on to gmail, I see the mail still there. Is there anyway to delete from mail, and have it remove the message from gmail altogether?

Is it possible to delete message in the server using Mail configured using IMAP?
Currently when I delete the message in Mail, the server still keep a copy of it, which means it is not deleted on the server. I know that POP can do this but I still want the option of being able to access it from other computers.
My server has only a small size, so I hope that I can just delete it from my Mail instead of having to log in to the server and delete it again.
Mail in OS 10.8 can't open web links embedded in mail messages. Just started this AM but I changed nothing.

I am migrating my mail and archive folders from Mail to iCloud. I moved 20+ folders and over 8k messages with no problem by dragging and dropping the folder from 'On my mac' section to 'iCloud' section in Mail. The last two folders were the largest with over 1.5k in each folder. Over 1200 of the messages in each went in to iCloud without a hitch. Then I got this error:
The IMAP command “APPEND” (to [mail box name]) failed with server error: Message contains NUL characters.
There are 149 messages left in one folder and 203 in another folder. Try as I might, it will not work. I tried Rebuild mailbox option in menu and exported to Mail and mbox format and then re-importing. Still does not work.
One IMAP account is intermittently losing all mail in inbox except for one message. After doing opening program the receive wheel spins for a long time, but at this point there are only 170 emails in the inbox because we moved all the rest to the on my mac inbox to try to solve this porblem. There are two accounts, both from the same provider, but one of them takes a long time to receive new mail. The wheel spins for a long time - each time it gets mail.
Several times after finishing receive cycle, all the mail that was in the inbox disappears, except for one. I was able to get the emails to retrn by going into settings>accounts> and changing a random setting and then changing it back the way it was. All settings appear to be correct and match the other other account that is working correctly.

I'm running Mac OS X Version 10.7.4 on my iMac and am suddenly unable to simply move files to the trash.Instead, I get the following message: 'Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this.'When I do enter my password, the file does not enter the Trash but seems to disappear.I tried to find ways to revert to previous settings that allowed me to move files to the trash, but had trouble doing so.How can I get my iMac to run normally?

Is there a way to delete an unwanted e-mail message?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have on tow differnt Mac' both running 10.8.6 and Office 2011.I get a message and I delete it from the inbox (POP accounts with my ISP, on my own domain), and next from the deleted items folder. so far so good, message (should be) gone forever. Now if I do a search (via the Mac find function) for the message it shows up as being in:/Users/e/ Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/Name of User/Data Records/Messages/ 0T/0B/0M/13K/x00_13558.olk14Message. The last item being the message.I can open it by double clicking and there it is in its full glory. If I do a search within Outlook it shows up but has no folder located to it, so I suppose it 'finds' it in the same folder where the Mac finds it.Using the find inside Outlook I can find them, delete them again and find them again, etc. Now, not only does this bloat the storage space needed (account now bloated to 1.5 Megabite), but it is also unpleasant (security) to know that they are still there. After all why otherwise delete anything?is this normal, and the second question is, how to set Outlook up that it removes these messages permanently? I had a thread about this in the MS Outlook forum but had no luck there.url...it be interesting to hear if any of you can recreate the problem, to exclude it being a unique problem on both my machines.
- Create new account in Outlook (same problem)
- Rebuild database
- Upgrade to latest Outlook version, followed by again

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince yesterday, I've been getting this strange error message when opening Mail. It happens on my two Macs at home as well as my Mac at work.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSince updating Safari recently to 5.1.5, if I choose the Mail Link to This Page command, instead of opening Mail.app with a new email with the link pasted in, it launches Google Chrome and, in Chrome, goes to the email login page for Google webmail. If I choose the Mail Contents of This Page command, I get an error message stating: "Safari can't create an email message because Google Chrome.app doesn't support sending webpages from Safari. You can use the Mail application included with Mac OS X to send webpages." Safari is set as my default browser. This behavior started immediately after the 5.1.5 update.I use these commands pretty regularly and, through many version of mail.app and Safari, there has never been a glitch. Any ideas, folks? Or is this a bug introduced by 5.1.5 or some other recent Software Update? (Software updates are completely up to date and on 10.7.3.)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an e-mail that I tried to send using Mail 3.6. I accidently selected it to send from an account that has an error with the outgoing mail server. Usually when this happens and the error box pops up I just choose another server. The problem is that the email was going to a whole list of people and the options are lost at the bottom of the screen. I can't access the buttons. I have had this message on my screen now for over a month.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI composed an email today and it didn't like the way I configured the addresses. I got an error message saying the message couldn't be sent because of the address format. Now, every time I send an email, no matter to whom, that error pops up. My correctly addressed emails go out just fine. How do I get rid of it? Where do I find the draft to delete it so the program doesn't keep trying to send? (It's not in my draft folder)

I use iMacs for work. I often send email messages with attachments using Mail. Often, when sending email messages to Windows users (they are out there still), they will reply that they cannot open "the second attachment." The message seems to "pick up" a second apparent attachment, which is generally just a few K in size, and is not part of the original message or attachment. Unfortunately, though, it tricks the recipient into thinking that there are two attachments and the second one is meaningful So then they respond and I have to assure them that the second attachment is irrelevant and can be ignored.

Mail works fine except for one message with a single .docx attachment. All other mail including mail from the same person with other attachments before and after this one has worked fine last few months. This particular one just wouldn't open, not just the attachment, but the text as well. I was able to retrieve the message and attachment directly from the server using a browser connection but that wouldn't have worked for more than a few days as mail automatically is dropped from the server.

I switched to Mavericks OS. Now, when I'm sending one (1) e-mail to one (1) e-mail address, for instance, I'm receiving a strange message under the outgoing mail progress bar (left bottom part of Mail finder window): "Outgoing Mails: 3 out of 3" or similar strange numbers but usually different form the number of recipients.
