Software :: Adding Home Button To Safari Address Toolbar
Apr 8, 2005
Need a "Home Page" button in Safari? This used to be the only reason I never really used Safari. Go to "View > Home" this will add a Home Page button to the address toolbar.
I have Lion 10.7.2 and am running Safari version 5.1.2, hopefully I am good so far. I'm not sure what hapenned, I must have done something, but one day my address bar decided it wanted to play hide and seek and it won....the "show toolbar" option does nothing upon clicking it, neither does the "customize toolbar" option.
Safari was accidentally deleted from my MB pro. Im running OSx 10.6.8 with safari 5.0.5.I was able to install it again using the install disk and checked for any software updates but it still is not showing up in my toolbar.I searched and tried the view/customize to drag the default set to toolbar, made sure show toolbar is selected etc, but still no middle section of toolbar. When I would try to drag the default set to toolbar nothing happens. The toolbar area is being shown, with the left and right arrows (on the left) and the Google search window shows (on the right), but the center white window to type web address' is not.Â
Yesterday I downloaded safari 5 and it was working fine. Then I tried to customize the toolbar but when I click on "Customize Toolbar", nothing happens (same with when I try it from the menu bar). Now I've been clicking around a bit and I accidentally removed the address bar and now I have to navigate via Wikipedia: Google Search URL. Does anybody know how to customize the toolbar? I have re-downloaded safari already
It seems that since installing SL, my home icon in Safari keeps going missing. I can add it to the toolbar and it'll stay there only until I close the app. Upon re-opening, it's gone. I don't know that it's related to SL, but the problem has only started since the upgrade.
I'm using Pages in iWork 09. I want a save button on top in the toolbar. I tried to customize it, but it doesn't look like I have that option. Is there seriously no way to create a save button?
My dock and toolbar of the home screen hide when I open the internet, but if I hover over them they reappear, what can I do to have them permanently on?
I got an HDD from a friend and its pretty faster than the one my Mac Pro has. What I want to do is, put all the system files, apps etc in that new HDD, but have my home folder on my old HDD which is bigger. How can I do that from software side? I am guessing it would cause problems to just move my home folder to another HDD.
Do you think I may have a "potential" problem with the following home network configuration? http://images.macrumors.com/vb/image...s/confused.gif I currently have a Motorola SBG900 for my all-in-one solution wireless cable modem gateway for my MS XP desktop & laptop home network.
I will be buying a MBP and the TC for my existing home network. I will be connecting the time capsule/WAN point to the the SBG900 Ethernet connection and disabling the SBG900 wireless component to benefit of the 802n/g. The TC will be my router/firewall and the SBG900 firewall will disabled. The SBG900 will still be my dhcp server.
On my Mac Mini, I have set up a new user because of problems with the OS. So far, it is working fine. I also have a G5 running OS 10.4.11. There is an account on both machines with the same name. However, the new account on the Mini is a different name. The G5 does not offer the "login as" (at least that I can see, so my access to the new account on the Mini is limited to a dropbox. To simplify: A is the account on both the Mini and the G5, B is the account only on the Mini. I tried extending the permissions on B's home directory, but that did not work. Using get info, I unlocked the file then tried to add A to the list of users. For some reason, nothing happened.Â
How can I give user A permission to access user B's home directory on the Mini?
I want to add a category of Home Movies to go along with the movies and TV Shows categories on iTunes. Can this be done? I want it to show up on Apple TV as a option also.
I want to use multiclucth to make a gesture so I can go back to my home page. But I don't have the home key in this macbook pro's keyboard. I believe the shortcut is opt+home. But what should I do with this keyboard that has no the home button?
I accidentally erased google search from my default search engine in google chrome, now I am being asked for the search URL to re-add it. Anyone knows what it is? Tried google.com/search with no success. Apparently the url is quite complicated, containing question marks and "%".
I was in the middle of adding new contacts and two very strange things happened.
1) After adding the second to last contact, I clicked on "All" to start dragging contacts into a new group and there were all these blank address cards in amongst my regular addresses - as if I had accidentally held down apple N and created a whole bunch of new cards inadvertently - but I had not done this - I was adding people one by one - all morning and it had been going just fine.
2) I still had a couple contacts to add so I thought, well I'll just fill in one of these blank cards - don't know where they came from, maybe I did something, so I better just use them - BIG MISTAKE - poof! Address Book is now gone - completely empty and in Mail, all my address history is also gone.
I clicked undo till I couldn't und anymore and although it said 'undoing new entry', undoing x, undoing y - nothing was really changing - everything was still gone.
Apple freak BF then fiddled and fiddled and after half and hour found the meta data files with all kinds of gobbledy gook numbers and letters in the prefix but can't get them back into Address Book to open...
Why has this happened - it felt like some sort of viral attack but I though macs don't get those - what other weird stuff is going on in there and can I prevent this weirdness from corrupting other programs - mail? calendar? Is that possible or silly? And of course most importantly can I get my addresses back?
I am new to mac mail so I am slowly adding all of my contacts. However, is there a way to add multiple contacts at once. Say I received an email where 50 others in the To: Can I add all of these people at once, or do I have to right click and add each one individually?
In Mac Mail when I right click an email address and add it to my Address Book it always reverses the first name and last name in the Address Book. What am I doing wrong? I'm sure this is answered elsewhere in the Forum but I can't find it.
Every time my co-worker exports a group vCard for me to import into my address book, a note is added (in the notes field) to each vCard which begins "Categories:..." followed by a list of Address Book Groups which that card belonged to on his Mac. How do we STOP address book from appending this note every time he exports a group vCard - it's hard for me to individually delete this text from every card that I import (I do NOT want or need this "Categories" information in the notes of my address book cards). I wish iCloud was an option for us right now, but since I cannot upgrade my computer right now, it is not.

I am running Yosemite 10.10.1 and I use the built in Mail, Calendar and Contact applications. What I would like to understand is if there is a way to disable the function that automatically adds email address into my contact.app without me specifically doing this function myself?

Is there a way to determine what my home IP address is when I'm not at home? Here is the reason for the question: I'm using my iPad as a mobile platform when I don't need all the horsepower of my MBP. However, to allow myself access to my files, I have my home router set up to route the appropriate ports to allow me to VNC into my MBP from my iPad. It works like a charm... until my ISP changes my home IP address. That is precisely what happened, and because I needed to get access to certain files, I had to call a neighbor and ask to have them check [URL] from my network.
I went to sent a fax like I have always done, for years now. I select Send Fax, then Facsimile. There used to be a button that said Address Book so I could find the fax number to use. That button is no longer there. I now have to manually open the Address Book to find the number, then copy and paste it into the Fax (Print) dialog window.Over the weekend I did update my Brother printer driver using Software Update. Did this cause the Address Book button to vanish?
Whenever I access my mac though my ip, local ip, 127.0.0.1, or the part of my domain linked to it, it usually will change the url to "Imac.local". How can I stop this?
