In Mac Mail when I right click an email address and add it to my Address Book it always reverses the first name and last name in the Address Book. What am I doing wrong? I'm sure this is answered elsewhere in the Forum but I can't find it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedLike Outlook, but not Outlook And not Entourage. I tried it and it's sooooo slow and does not have nearly the feature set of Outlook. I know outlook is coming to Mac with the next Office release, but I can't wait that long. Perhaps it's just being a lifelong Windows user and being tethered to Outlook for the past 10 years or so. I have been using the native Mac tools (Mail, iCal, Address Book) since I got my MBP about three months ago and I'm getting frustrated. They are all perfectly good independent apps and they do integrate nicely, but they just aren't as powerful as what I want. Especially in the to-dos category - way too wimpy for me! Moreover, I am really tired of having to flip between apps and have 3+ windows open for something I am used to being able to see in a single window. In a perfect world, I'd like it to have iPhone sync as well, but if I can at least get something better on my desktop, that would be better than nothing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just converted to imac but have a little problem with Entourage.
Basically I want to automatically add all SENT addresses to my address book, but Entourage does not do this. I looked up the web and there is a software patch but this captures ALL addresses which will result in an address book full of garbage.
I was in the middle of adding new contacts and two very strange things happened.
1) After adding the second to last contact, I clicked on "All" to start dragging contacts into a new group and there were all these blank address cards in amongst my regular addresses - as if I had accidentally held down apple N and created a whole bunch of new cards inadvertently - but I had not done this - I was adding people one by one - all morning and it had been going just fine.
2) I still had a couple contacts to add so I thought, well I'll just fill in one of these blank cards - don't know where they came from, maybe I did something, so I better just use them - BIG MISTAKE - poof! Address Book is now gone - completely empty and in Mail, all my address history is also gone.
I clicked undo till I couldn't und anymore and although it said 'undoing new entry', undoing x, undoing y - nothing was really changing - everything was still gone.
Apple freak BF then fiddled and fiddled and after half and hour found the meta data files with all kinds of gobbledy gook numbers and letters in the prefix but can't get them back into Address Book to open...
Why has this happened - it felt like some sort of viral attack but I though macs don't get those - what other weird stuff is going on in there and can I prevent this weirdness from corrupting other programs - mail? calendar? Is that possible or silly? And of course most importantly can I get my addresses back?
I am new to mac mail so I am slowly adding all of my contacts. However, is there a way to add multiple contacts at once. Say I received an email where 50 others in the To: Can I add all of these people at once, or do I have to right click and add each one individually?
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time my co-worker exports a group vCard for me to import into my address book, a note is added (in the notes field) to each vCard which begins "Categories:..." followed by a list of Address Book Groups which that card belonged to on his Mac. How do we STOP address book from appending this note every time he exports a group vCard - it's hard for me to individually delete this text from every card that I import (I do NOT want or need this "Categories" information in the notes of my address book cards). I wish iCloud was an option for us right now, but since I cannot upgrade my computer right now, it is not.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI must be missing something very obvious, but I can't seem to set Address Book to add all new contact info as "Work" entries. I have to edit every new entry and change all the fields from "other" to "work." This appears to happen when I "grab" phone or email info from an email message.

Gmail is my default email client. I'm trying to send an email blast to my groups in address book. When I right click on a group, and click "send to...", none of the email address show up in the TO field, only the name of the Group appears.Previously, I used mac mail and clicking "send to" group would result in all email addresses going right where they're supposed to go.I don't know how I changed the client to Gmail, but if I can't get it to work, I'd like to switch it back.

Have any of you run across this annoyance after upgrading to SL? I had about 30 accounts that I call on that were listed as Company that all of a sudden showed up in my address book as either NoName or NoEmail. I found the solution to fixing this was to go to each address listed and tic the little box next to the word Company under First Last name. Luckily, I only had about 30 of these to manually fix, I feel sorry for those who have 100's of names to fix. You probably wonder why I did not have the Company box checked, well in all honesty, it did not matter whether you did or not under OS X Leopard, now for some reason some programmer thought it necessary to make it necessary to check the company box.

For some reason I can't email new groups that I set up in address book. Older groups that were migrated from previous iMac work fine. In address book I hit the plus button for the new group, name the group, and drag the contacts from my contact list that I want in the new group. When I go to MacMail, activate the "To" field and start to type the new group name it appears in the list, but when clicked on it disappears leaving only a comma. When I do this with older groups all the contacts in that group appear.
I'm in college and get a lot of emails from a lot of different groups and I often have reason to save them as a group in address book, but I usually stop once I realize that I need to add each of the people to my address book one by one, and then add them all to a group as I go.
Is there a way to streamline this? In an ideal world I would like to be able to create a new group in address book and just copy/click and drag all the address from the email to the group. But, like I said before the biggest issue right now is having to add each person to address book one at a time, simplifying that process alone would be a huge help. Any suggestions, is what I'm thinking of even possible?
How does one delete unwanted contacts from the address book?

First time trying to create a group in Address Book and send the members an e-mail. Looks like the group is set up properly in Address Book, but I can't e-mail to the group.When I enter the group name in "To:" in a new e-mail in Mail, the name disappears when I hit Enter or move hte cursor to the right. I have to click in the field to the right just to get the group name to stay in the field.
When I send the message I get this back: "This message couldnt be sent because the following internal error occurred: This message couldnt be sent because you havent specified any recipients." I can manually address the email to the individual group members, but why isn't Mail adding the group members as recipients when I enter the group name?

A friend of mine got his first mac, an iMac and wants to EASILY transfer his hotmail email addresses into the OSX "Address Book" app. There's got to be an easy way to do this so he can avoid transferring them in one by manually.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently added new names with their email addresses in "Address Book" - picked the Group I wanted and then clicked the + sign under Names and entered the info in the space to the right. I had already created a mailbox for each name and had gone through Mailbox-Preferences-Rules to have emails from or to routed to the correct boxes [which it did when I clicked on "Apply" at the end of this process]. All this to show what I did prior to choosing "New Message" in Email. When I got the blank email page, I clicked on the Address Book icon above to retrieve the address I wanted and only the names of the people I had entered were displayed, NOT their email addresses.  I then restarted the computer - still the same. How do I get the addresses to show up?

I recently discovered that many random email addresses are being added to my address book. The majority is junk and is clogging my address book with entries that could possibly be spam addresses. First off, is there something I inadvertantly turned on? Is there a way to disable this feature? I have installed one tool called Attachment Tamer (ver3.0.10 from Lokiware) but this does not seem to have anything relevant. Â
