Software :: Sony Mini DV - Mac Compatible?
Jun 29, 2006I have a Sony DVD301 Handycam that records to a 3" dvd. I have heard on numerous occasions that this is not Mac-compatible (camera only has a USB port, no FW). recently read that Handbrake 0.7.0 will easily convert the files so I can edit in iMovie. Can anyone confirm?

Oct 24, 2010I've used my usb key to play movies on my sony blu ray player many times before. Now that I formatted the disk on my mac, I started to get a message that said the usb is not recognized. After searching around, I found possible answers, but none worked. I formatted the disk to FAT 32, but still got the same message. I tried making it into ntfs-3g format, but still nothing. Has anyone had this problem or know how I can format it so that I can play videos again on my blu ray player?

May 31, 2012My father has an iMac G4 circa 2003, currently running 10.2.8. He hasn't used it for a long while. This OS can connect to the internet, but the browser is incapable of loading content. What can I do? I don't want to go through finding and investing in all the OS upgrades if the computer doesn't have the storage space or capability to run them, and/or I still won't be able to use an upgraded browser with it. He's quite elderly and out in the country, so bringing it in to a Genius bar is out of the question.

Sep 4, 2010have in the past few weeks uprgraded from tiger to leopard.Everything has been ok but i think i might have deleted some vital part of Quicktime player when i tried to clean up.I only realised this when i decided to get Quicktime player pro which i have paid for and have the key..I have tried to download quicktime from apple support website and just about any other website for that matter but zero.zilch.Installer takes me through the process but i get no player.
I have tried to remove all components of quicktime but to no avail.the download intalls but goes nowhere.Have tried to maybe 'jumpstart' it by double clicking quicktime time movies but there is just nothing going on.

Jun 29, 2007I have been trying to convince my Dad to get an iMac for himself for about 2 years. Right now he uses a 5 and 1/2 year old HP and it is draggin'. Anyways, he finally decided to get a mac (probably b/c he likes my mbp so much ) Well, tonight we realized that his Sony DCR-SR82 60GB Handycam Camcorder is not compatible with a mac. I guess Sony uses "muxed" video which means it is mixed together instead of having seperate video and audio tracks. I have got the run around from a whole bunch of sites and I need help.

I would like to buy a Sony HDR-SR11 and need to know if I will be able to simply connect the camcorder to my Mac and download the videos for editing and copying to dvd. I have researched this camcorder extensively online, but have not found an answer involving specifically the Mac OS X 10.4.11 and the Sony HDR-SR11. I have iMovie HD (6.0.3), so I also need to know if this is the application needed. Some of the forums I have visited say that Macs work with this camcorder, and some don't. This camcorder is on the Apple List of Compatible Camcorders, but compatible to me is you just hook it up, follow the prompts, and it's done.
