OS X :: Program To Convert AVI Files To DVD Player Compatible Format
Feb 18, 2009
I am looking for a program to convert avi files to another format so I can watch them on my xbox's dvd player. My Xbox won't read the avi format for some reason.
I have handbrake, but want something that will allow me to convert any of my video files to avi or mpeg-2, these seem to stream a bit better and want to convert all to mainly avi, but something with a bit more options would be better. Mac only no windows apps!
I am looking for a reliable quick batch converter that can convert the .mov movie files my camera shoots to mpg2 to burn quickly to a blank DVD to give to family members to play on a regular DVD player. The clips are good, but my family is eager to watch the files on TV, & it is an ordeal & too time consuming to have to go into a video & DVD editor for everything I or my family shoot with my digicam. I need a quick way to get these files to DVD for immediate viewing.
I am hoping to convert WMA files to MP3 formate on a mac. I tried out the program named switch but I was unable to make that work (I was only using the trial version anyway. I did see the thread that was started in Nov 06 but it seems to be a little too old for discussion sakes. I was also hopping for new information/evolution of programs and freeware. I will try what it says about switch but I doubt it will work.
If you have any other programs, I would love to hear about them. (just as a side note, the WMA files could be protected. I don't know if they are and I dont know how to know if they are or are not. I read on the switch application page that it supports the decoded version of WMA thus that might be the reason it doesn't work).
I might be asking for something that already been discussed on here but I can't find it. I need to find a program preferably free. I need to convert itunes m4v files to non-drm mp4 files.
I am searching for software that will convert aif/aiff/aifc files to wma. Do not want to convert to mp3. All I can find is software like Switch which does not convert to wma. There seems to be an endless number of windows software which will make the conversion, but none that (that I can find) for Mac OS.
how do i convert mac classic files to a currently readable format? I have managed to copy them to a USB stick, and would like to find a site which can convert them to RTF or another current format.
When I download audio files from Vuze they play perfectly in itunes but I cannot sync them with my Iphone. Is there some kind of transcoding I need to perform before my Iphone will support these audio files?
I am the owner of a shiny new iMac , aluminum and all. I am ready to do more heavy duty resource demanding things that my trusty but aged G4 Powerbook can't handle too well. One of them is video conversion. I have a huge database and collection of avi files that I need to convert to iPod format (I think that's MP4?). Can someone recommend a good program? Freeware, Shareware, Retail, anything to get my job done!
After ripping a DVD to a Mac on MacTheRipper, how would I then convert the VOB. files into MP4. files to make them compatible with iTunes so I can sync them onto my iPod.
Is it possible to change the default behaviour of wiki calendars to be hidden instead of visible. I have a wiki with a calendar with quite may calendars in it. The problem is that it gets very clotted when all event in all of them are shown. You can untick the box next to the calendar to hide it, but the problem is that this does not stay after a refresh or logout when viewing via a webbrowser. If I use the iCal client, a hidden calendar stays hidden (in iCal, not on web)
What I would like to do is change so "hidden" or "unchecked" is the default on the server.
On a client using iCal the setting for Checked or Unchecked is stored in :
user/Library/Calendars/C9BE5C0A-6EED-48D7-97F8-6DB02EA6A55A.calendar/Info.plist (your numbers will be different ) And the specific command in info.plist is:
<key>Checked</key>
<integer>1</integer>
As an alternative to change the default behaviour on the server for all calendars, changing this setting for each of the calendars would be possible if I only could find out how!?
I've been googling for and app that would let me convert real media files to format that would let me burn them to dvd and play on a dvd player and that can also be played in quicktime. A free app maybe?
So I've never encountered this problem before, but I'm trying to edit some video that came off of a camera that encodes everything as a .mov file and final cut pro doesn't recognize .mov files. Is there an easy way to encode these to something else?
I?m new to the music world but would like to start learning and I would like to start asking two questions. I would like to start converting all my music (my CDs) to .AAC or MP3 files and would like to know what would be the best way to do this.
What would be a good program to convert my music from CDs to .AAC or MP3 format in a Mac? Does itunes converts standard music format (from a cd) to .AAC by default?
I have a Sanyo Xacti and took video in the best format possible MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (family vacation). Now it happends that I need to convert this movies to be able to use them (create family videos etc). I would like to convert them to avi format but I dont manage to find software for mac capable to do so.
Basically, I wanted to combine two pictures (copying and pasting one over part of the other) and post it on Facebook. Problem is, I couldn't figure out how to do this in iPhoto. Luckily, I realized that I could do this easily in a program called OpenOffice.org Draw. However, I can't post it to Facebook (I'm assuming because Facebook doesn't recognize an .odg file as a picture). My question is, is there any way to convert this type of file into a picture type that I could load onto Facebook? I've seen some converters online but couldn't find any that are Mac compatible.
I have a number of files that are .avi, .xvid, and mp4 that I would like to convert to dvd format, not just burn it to a disk, but burn it to a dvd-r that will play in my dvd player rather than my computer. Does anyone know of any software that can do this that is easy to use and either free or inexpensive? I have tried ffmpegx (way to complicated for me!), the trial of aimersoft - couldn't get it to convert anything, and toast. (With that I tried to burn someone that was already in dvd format but it turned it into mp4...) I have only had a mac for about three months, so I am not terribly familiar with it's workings yet... I am on OS X 10.6.5 Snow leopard I think?
I have a bunch of videos that I recorded on my windows computer, they're in an uncompressed AVI format (huge files). Since I wanted to use iMovie 09 for the editing I decided to convert them to mp4 using VisualHub (to compress them and so they would work with iMovie) and they seemed to work fine, I could still see the video on Quicktime. The problem is that I still can't add them to iMovie. Whenever I add one of these videos as mp4 or dv (I've tried both) they go through the process of adding them to iMovie (copying, creating thumbnails, etc.) and then when it's finished, that's it. No video is actually added to the event. It happens all the time no matter what other options I change when converting the file. And by the way, I noticed the "Show All Clips" option at the bottom of the iMovie main window, it's not that. Anyway, here's the info on one of the files (from the Quicktime X info page of the video):
File: Video 4.mp4 Format: H.264, 800 x 600, Millions, AAC, 2 channels, 44100 Hz FPS: 30 Data Size: 84.3 MB Data Rate: 4,505.10 kbit/s (This file goes through the process when I add it to iMovie, but doesn't actually get added). Some of them have an 840 x 524 size instead of 800 x 600, but they still fail to get added to iMovie properly.
I would like to format a partition on an old iMac (mid-2007) that is compatible with Xubuntu 11.10. According to Disk Utility the current partition is formatted with Mac OS Extended (journaled). None of the other format options appear to be likely candidates.Certainly the existing format does not appear to work. What must I do?
i have a load of old mobile videos i took from an old nokia phone. They are in the video format of IV50 but i need them to be changed to MP4 format, does anyone have any idea how i could do this? Free preferebly!
