I found out what the problem is but i'm not sure which cable to get.My TV manual says 'Connect a D-Sub cable between PC IN [PC] connector on the TV and the PC output connector on your computer" (did that part <<) and then "Connect a PC Audio Cable between the PC IN [Audio} jack on the TV and the Audio Out jack of the sound card on your computer. . The port is next to the VGA cable in the pic.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy G3 iBook's logic board has died (it was in that series that had the logic board problem). I had it replaced once already when it was under warrenty. However, the second one has died and Apple will not touch it (unless I pay something like $350 for Apple to fix it). Well, I decided to take matters into my own hands and I ripped open my iBook piece by piece. Now that I have the logic board in front of me, what can I do to fix it? Can I sodder something? Should I take it out and buy a new one off ebay?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have a network running a Linksys B&G WRT54G router on a ComCast Cable internet connection. I have an iBook G4 (2005) and a B/W G3/400 connected to it. The iBook is using the built-in Airport Extreme and the G3 is using a valid Belkin PCI card (model: FD57000) 802.11G card. So the G3 is just chillin' downloading torrents and what not, but I noticed the speeds aren't that great and my iBook is slowed waaay down on just basic web browsing. I reboot the G3 and all of a sudden the iBook speeds way up. Once the G3 is back online everything is slow again. I've tried many settings and still am not satisfied yet (using the iBook on the same torrents as the G3 the speeds are insanely higher).

The network does show up, then I enter the password and it keeps saying "password is incorrect". But it isn't - so is there a problem with the compatibility of my Airport card and is there anything I can do?Below is the spec of my laptop.

last week I started to get scrambled video on my iBook G3 (2002 vintage) running 10.2.8. I got it to start up correctly before freezing twice in the last week, but it appears to have given up completely today. I'm not as concerned about this as I would have been a few years ago, since I have a lot of experience with similar problems. Apple replaced the logic board under AppleCare in 2003 and again in 2004, and this is part of the series of iBooks that Apple was fixing for free for a while as part of a class-action settlement. Apple doesn't appear to be doing that anymore (that's fine, the computer is Old with a capital O and it's not feasible to continue supporting the product), and I assume that this has effectively totaled the computer

It's not a GSM buzz or anything, but I don't know how to get rid of it. I've tried doing a couple of things, but it hasn't worked. Any ideas?- Secondly, I'm having some trouble with the mouse often. I was reading something on the internet and the screen went black on me, but the power was still on (I clicked CAPS LOCK to see if there was power). I then proceeded to push the power button and the power went off. When I pressed the power button again to turn it on, it made that internal noise it always makes and then the fan came on, and wouldn't turn off. There was no picture on the screen at all. Completely dead. But there was power, because when I clicked on the CAPS LOCK, the light came on). I tried pressing on the power button for at least 15 seconds and even went as long as a minute, and the power didn't go off.

I tried Firefox and still, the same result. I resetted the modem and the router, but still nothing. The internet connection on my other computer works fine. So I got on the Windows partition and it connects to the internet! So it's just OSX that won't let me connect cause my Windows partition works fine.

On this network I have a Windows PC to which a HP Laserjet 1010 is connected via USB. I would like to be able to share this printer on the Windows PC so that I can print from the iBook.I have set file and print sharing options on the Windows PC. I have then added a new printer in OS X over 'Windows Printing'. OS X sees the printer and allows me to add it after puting in a username and password (I used the 'Guest' username). However when I try and print from the iBook the printer initialises and then procedes to print "%!PS-Adobe-3.0 %RBINumCopies: 1 %%..." and then lots of random letters. I thought that this looked like the iBook wasn't using the right drivers and after checking it appears it is using Generic Printer drivers.

I've had a Roland XP-30 and just got the M-Audio MidiSport Uno and downloaded the latest drivers from the site. The device is recognized on my Powerbook, but I can't get any audio playback from the keyboard. I've tried messing with settings on the keyboard, but still can't get it to play or record on my Powerbook. In GarageBand, Reason, and Audio MIDI Setup the device is properly recognized.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a late '08 MBP that I'm connecting to a brand new 27" ACD (which is unbelievable by the way), and everything works great for a while. After sleeping and waking a few times, there's a massive 4-5 second lag all of a sudden only when the volume is adjusted (bluetooth Apple keyboard), and the sound is gone no matter what level the volume is set to. The sound is set to run by default on the ACD's internal speakers. Everything else on the keyboard functions fine. It's just the volume that's affected. There's no way to correct it unless I unplug all three cable connections (USB, MDP, Power) and plug them back in. If I just disconnect one (I've tried all three individually), it doesn't fix anything. Lastly, I got the updated Apple software for the monitor before I even got it home (so unless they've put out an update in the last two weeks, then I have the latest software).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Photosmart C4280 printer that works fine when I want to print, but when I try to scan with Image Capture here's what happens: I can do an Overview scan, can see the document in the window, but the button to the right of overview does not show "Scan,"but a greyed out "Cancel."When I try to manually scan from the printer, an error message pops up in the printer window that says "USB not connected?" I'm pretty sure that the latest drivers are installed.

View 6 Replies View RelatedOver the past few weeks I have been having issues with Time Machine. I have a 2Tb drive for time machine. One of the partitions that it backs up is a raid disk with 2 disks in the concat raid disk. One is a 1Tb Firewire device and the other is a 750Gb USB devcie. What happens is that the backup starts and sometimes works but a lot of times the partition umounts itself and you get an error onscreen pointing out that you have disconnected the drive without unmounting it. A couple of seconds later the drive remounts and all is good again with the drive but the backup has failed. I have rebuilt the backup device and fsck'd the partition in question and I see no errors.

My problem is when I connect a usb device such as my iphone or camera there is no sound played signifying that it is connected. I am used to using windows where a noticeable tune it played everytime a device is connected or disconnected. I have tried looking in setting and such without much luck. I have a 27" iMac and an LG 47" 1080p HDTV. I just bought the Griffin Video Display Converter, which is certified by Apple to pass both video and audio from the mini display port on the late 2009 iMacs. Whenever somebody turns on the HDTV the iMac's screen flickers the color blue on and off, sometimes staying that way permanently. Permanently the color blue that is. The only way to get out of it is to turn the iMac off and then back on (restarting it).I have the ?Mirror Displays? checkbox checked in the ?Display Preferences?. When I uncheck that box it treats the connected HDTV as an extension to the iMac display, whether the HDTV is on or off, which makes my cursor disappear off one side of the screen. This is why I leave mirroring on.

Am I able to boot the iBook via Target Disk Mode on my PowerBook and run the iBook Hardware Test CD on it? Also, can I reboot my PowerBook and choose the iBook as the startup volume?
I know how to do Target Disk Mode but the latter I'm not sure about.
My brother's iBook G4 (800Mhz, First Rev) has completely splattered itself and we're getting a new Macbook for him under insurance. My iBook G3 (White, 900Mhz G3..the last G3 Rev of the iBook) has a failing hard drive.
Now, could I swap out those two drives, at least to recover stuff? And is there a specific method of opening up the iBook G4 so that I don't break stuff (I've already messed with my G3..and ended up with a dozen extra screws ^_^

How much faster would the G4 be over my G3. I figure that after selling my G3, the G4 would only be another $200ish on top of it. Would this be worth it?
