I have a Apple iBook g3. Its been great for so long but tonight my mousepad/button has stopped responding and putting the cursor to the top hand left of the page. I opened it up and it seems the brown clip is loose and not connected whatsoever. how it has happened? And what i should go about doing to repair it? What would i need to do to repair it?

So I have a network running a Linksys B&G WRT54G router on a ComCast Cable internet connection. I have an iBook G4 (2005) and a B/W G3/400 connected to it. The iBook is using the built-in Airport Extreme and the G3 is using a valid Belkin PCI card (model: FD57000) 802.11G card. So the G3 is just chillin' downloading torrents and what not, but I noticed the speeds aren't that great and my iBook is slowed waaay down on just basic web browsing. I reboot the G3 and all of a sudden the iBook speeds way up. Once the G3 is back online everything is slow again. I've tried many settings and still am not satisfied yet (using the iBook on the same torrents as the G3 the speeds are insanely higher).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI found out what the problem is but i'm not sure which cable to get.My TV manual says 'Connect a D-Sub cable between PC IN [PC] connector on the TV and the PC output connector on your computer" (did that part <<) and then "Connect a PC Audio Cable between the PC IN [Audio} jack on the TV and the Audio Out jack of the sound card on your computer. . The port is next to the VGA cable in the pic.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an iBook (running OS X Tiger) which is wirelessly connected to a home network via a wireless router. On this network I have a Windows PC to which a HP Laserjet 1010 is connected via USB. I would like to be able to share this printer on the Windows PC so that I can print from the iBook.I have set file and print sharing options on the Windows PC. I have then added a new printer in OS X over 'Windows Printing'. OS X sees the printer and allows me to add it after puting in a username and password (I used the 'Guest' username). However when I try and print from the iBook the printer initialises and then procedes to print "%!PS-Adobe-3.0 %RBINumCopies: 1 %%..." and then lots of random letters. I thought that this looked like the iBook wasn't using the right drivers and after checking it appears it is using Generic Printer drivers.

is this a cause for concern on my part? i'm replacing/upgrading the dvd rom and hard disk.. that's why i saw that wire.
I own a Sony Cyber-shot camera, and a 24 inch IMAC computer. I took a short video clip and downloaded it to Iphoto (no problem doing that). I then downloaded the clip to a 4 gpb flash drive, as an mp4 video. My problem is that my friends Microsoft based PC can't play it.

Am I able to boot the iBook via Target Disk Mode on my PowerBook and run the iBook Hardware Test CD on it? Also, can I reboot my PowerBook and choose the iBook as the startup volume?
I know how to do Target Disk Mode but the latter I'm not sure about.
My brother's iBook G4 (800Mhz, First Rev) has completely splattered itself and we're getting a new Macbook for him under insurance. My iBook G3 (White, 900Mhz G3..the last G3 Rev of the iBook) has a failing hard drive.
Now, could I swap out those two drives, at least to recover stuff? And is there a specific method of opening up the iBook G4 so that I don't break stuff (I've already messed with my G3..and ended up with a dozen extra screws ^_^
Mainly the aim is to salvage the hard drive and swap them out; replacing my faulty iBook G3 one with the iBook G4 one which is perfectly fine.
My iBook G4 power supply failed and I'm awaiting a replacement. In the mean time, can I use the power supply from my iBook G3 with the iBook G4?

How much faster would the G4 be over my G3. I figure that after selling my G3, the G4 would only be another $200ish on top of it. Would this be worth it?
I just bought a parts ibook from ebay, but I managed to fix it, except there was no hard drive. I currently have a 6 GB HD in it with OS X.3.9 on it, but I want tiger. I have the tiger family pack, so I have a license for it. It only has a CD-ROM drive, so I am wondering if I can buy a 40 GB HD, and clone the one from my G4 onto it.

I have a 2.0 Alu. MacBook and it was fine this morning everything was working, I decided I wanted to play CoD so I switched to my Windows side. Everything was working as well and then I decided I wanted to use Leopard again. Thats when I noticed I couldn't use my mousepad and the keyboard wasn't responding. A Mac "Genius" told me to reinstall Mac OS X through Bootcamp but how can I do that?

It's an older table and there is some loss of luster when I'm using the mouse at causing it to jump around a little bit. I'm looking for a mousepad that'll look good and perform well. I'm thinking, if it's out there, an aluminum mousepad would be pretty cool to match the iMac.

It's inside the very thin crevices of the L-shaped protrusions around which you tie the power cord that connects to the MacBook.Anyone here has any ideas about what this substance may be? Is it simply lubrication or leakage from the power unit?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI did a research on apple boards and on this site, but while I see many people over the last couple years having the same problem, I don't see any solutions. All of the sudden, last night I discovered that my white late 2009 macbook mousepad stopped reacting to taps (as right and left clicks). The external mouse connected to the macbook operates properly I can track all over the mousepad, including the areas which previously reacted to tap-to-click (the bottom left and right side of the mousepad) when i double-tap the mousepad operates (as left button of the mouse) Singe tap in any area of mousepad does not do anything There is no feeling of a click when I press on areas which previously reacted to tapping, but for the life of me, because I have several computers, I don't remember if it supposed to click. So I wonder if it is a mechanical or a software problem. If it was a mechanical problem, how come the tracking is fine, and double-tap works?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had an initial thread in Mac Software as I initially thought it was just a Safari 4 Beta issue.(Original thread here)But since then, it's spread from Safari 4 to my trash can and now to Numbers and Pages (It has not done anything to Keynote), the bottom panel (but not the top one) in Yahoo messenger... Even the silver navigation bar on the Apple website shows up as this weird metallic brown.What's even weirder is that the trash can is the normal silver metallic when the OS first loads and then changes to the brownish one. No amount of messing with display settings helps. Resetting the NVRAM initially got everything back to normal, but then boom, it's all stuck.

Well, at least with the most popular mousepads that are felt and rubber.
The Magic Mouse just hangs as you swipe the mouse across the pad.
Even hangs on the rubber Apple mousepad I bought at their corporate store in Cupertino.
When I use it on my wooden desktop it works beautifully. But weeks later my desktop has all sorts of nicks all over it from the constant back and forth motion.
Anyone can recommend the perfect mousepad? Perhaps an acrylic pad would work best? Please provide links

View 3 Replies View RelatedI do not have a mousepad with my magic mouse, because everyone I have tried just doesn't track very well at all. My wood desk seems to be perfect so I have been using that. However after a day of use I have all this black residue junk on my desk that I have to get out the spray cleaner and clean it up, which requires a lot of scrubbing. Has anyone else seen this? It seems like the black rubber pads are rubbing off on my desk....if anyone has had this problem what did you do to fix it? New Magic Mouse?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a bluetooth wireless Apple keyboard and magic mouse combo. I bought a Power Mac Dual G5 from a friend just to "play" with as my friend needed money badly. In fact, I am letting him buy it back if he comes up with the money within a year - forget the fact that I loaned way more than it's worth, but I just want to see if I can play with it to get something for my terrible investment.
I don't have a wired keyboard and mouse for it. He told me it has bluetooth AirPort card installed in it. When I try starting up, all I get is the grey screen with the Apple logo and spinning circle thing. I had hoped it would just "auto sense" my Apple bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse, but it doesn't appear to be. But is there any way to have it automatically find my bluetooth keyboard and mouse or do I need a wired keyboard and mouse to even start it up?
Will the restore and AHT discs from a 1.2 GHz 12" iBook work in a 1 GHz 12" iBook? All I am interested in is the AHT.
