I have a G5 dual (PowerMac7,2) with a Radeon 9600 pro card running an HD cinema display (clear plastic) and want to connect a second smaller 20" Cinema Display with the same type of plug - I think I need a DVI to ADC adapter - is this the case?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI picked up a new ATI Radeon 9600 Pro for my PowerMAC G5 D2.3 to run my 30" ACD.
I was going over the installation booklet and its all in PC lingo.
I recently purchased a 30" apple monitor to be used in tandem with my 23" cinema monitor. The card that was shipped with my G5 twin 2.5 GZ will not support the 30" as it lacks dual link dvi. Hence the 9600 pro for Mac & PC card. The problem is this...The screens light up at start up but the computer crashes before the boot sequence completes. I took the card to the apple service center where I bought it and it worked fine on both their G4 and G5 machines running Tiger. I cant make it work on mine in Tiger or Leopard.

I've just got a Radeon 9600 Pro PC/Mac edition, as the 9600XT that came with the G5 died on me last week. It's taken an age to get it working, I could only boot in safe mode, in the end I deleted all my existing ATI extensions, installed the ATI Displays 4.5.7 and it works. BUT ... (and it's a big but)... performance is VERY slow and System Profiler says Core Image and Quartz Extreme are not supported. If anyone's got any ideas I'd be most grateful.

I am considering buying a Wacom Contiq 24 HD screen/tablet and would like to know if the Radeon 2600 will drive both or will I need a second graphics card? I have a PM Dua 2.0 G5, 9600 nvida and a 23in apple display with no video at all. When i turn on the comp i get no video, i see my cpu blinking 3 times then a 5 sec pause. I have tired taking out the video card and re-seat it as well as the ram, i switch it (rotate it) and reset the PMU button, still no video

I've noticed that there are several sellers on eBay selling ATI Radeon 9600's and claim they work on PM G5's as well as PM G4's. [URL]. Could these cards just be stock Apple cards pulled from a G5 that happen to work in a G4, or are they altered or flashed PC cards that work on G5's and G4's. Is it common knowledge that you can pull a 9600 out of a stock G5 and use it in a G4?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had a bad power surge (USB hub that was plugged into the back of the display had the wrong power cord plugged in... very stupid mistake I know!!) take out my 23" Cinema Display. The display shows no sign of life (no power light, etc) and the brick has been tested and is OK. My local service place says that they will have to send the display back to Apple which means a minimum of $400 for repair so I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar issue that they resolved successfully? The service place suggested that Apple would replace the logic board but is there any way to test to see if this is the main issue? I have seen logic boards sold separately online but would be hesitant to buy it without know that this would fix this issue.
