As the title says, I need a new monitor for my old G5 as the old monitor for it went bust. Apple does not make the old displays that came with the unit anymore and the only available monitor is the new LED ones ? but they all come with mini display ports
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had a bad power surge (USB hub that was plugged into the back of the display had the wrong power cord plugged in... very stupid mistake I know!!) take out my 23" Cinema Display. The display shows no sign of life (no power light, etc) and the brick has been tested and is OK. My local service place says that they will have to send the display back to Apple which means a minimum of $400 for repair so I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar issue that they resolved successfully? The service place suggested that Apple would replace the logic board but is there any way to test to see if this is the main issue? I have seen logic boards sold separately online but would be hesitant to buy it without know that this would fix this issue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever we upgrade the Mini to an iMac, I have this vision of getting a vertical mount to hang our 20" Cinema Display under the counter in the "bill paying/desk area" of our kitchen. The issue I have is that I'm looking for something that will hang over the back of the display that you can hold the Mini in that does not take up the screws needed for the mount.
I'm thining of bending some Lexan to fit it in (see picture) unless anyone knows of something similar already out there to purchase.
Then I can just get a wireless keyboard/mouse and it will be a clutter-free area.
My electric went out and now the display won't come on. Do I need to but a new 65w power adapter? Everything is plugged in properly.

My 12 year old 22" Cinema Display finally bit the dust. Wondering how to recycle it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased a 2009 edition Mac mini and would like to use my 20" Cinema Display with it. My brother has an aftermarket ADC DVI adapter that I can use. My question is this: will the image quality suffer in transfer with the aftermarket adapter as compared with the Apple adapter?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a G5 dual (PowerMac7,2) with a Radeon 9600 pro card running an HD cinema display (clear plastic) and want to connect a second smaller 20" Cinema Display with the same type of plug - I think I need a DVI to ADC adapter - is this the case?

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo my dad is going to get one of the new LED displays soon, since his old aluminum one is out of warranty and needs a new power cord (I guess several years of rubbing against the corner of the desk has made it begin to fray - I haven't seen it yet, though, so I don't know how bad it is). Anyways, he says if I can fix it, it's mine. So I was just wondering how hard it is to replace the cord? This is the one that comes directly out of the back of the display and plugs into the power supply.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI know for a while now a lot of people have been wanting a way to hook up the PS3 (or any other non-Mini DisplayPort device for that matter) to the LED Cinema Display. There is finally a way to do it now thanks to Atlona Technologies. For any DVI-enabled Mac or PC all you will need is there new DVI to Mini DisplayPort Converter. Now for the PS3 it is a little more complicated. You can't simply use just the DVI to Mini DP Converter, because the LED Cinema Display doesn't support any of the resolutions output by the PS3. So to fix this you need their HDMI Scaler.
View 24 Replies View RelatedProbably a stupid question, but are the older Alu 23" Cinema Displays compatible with the brand new Mac Minis or would I need to purchase some kind of adapter to make it work? Just wanted to be sure before I make the plunge.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was wondering what connections I could use to view my hdtv via directtv thru the larger 27" LED cinema display?
I tried connecting the HDMI cable to HDMI satellite receiver box to hdmi port on mac mini and then using the display settings detect display. I also tried the mini DVI to HDMI connector directly to the LED cinema display port connection but could not get any HD reception to cinema display. What I could do is view the LED cinema display and picture of the cinema display to the monitor of the HDTV.

I have an older Apple 23" HD Cinema Display and would like to use it with a new Mac Mini, but cannot find the correct cable converter. Is there a cable converter that I can buy to make these work together?

I can not figure out how to connect the power on the cinema display. It looks like it would plug into the back of the mini where the macmini would normally plug the power in. Not sure if I am missing something. I also do not know if I need to plug all 4 connections the video, usb, hdmi, and iguess what is the power plug in or just certain plugs.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am thinking about bying a mac mini to replace my power mac G4, that has serious problems.
My monitor is a:
Apple Studio Display 17 (ADC)
Display Connector: ADC
Apple Display Connector port
and it has that proprietary connection and does not require a power cord
Can I reuse my current monitor in a mini mac?
How do I connect an ADC monitor to a mini mac Mini DisplayPort video out ?
When using the mini display port, do you need to power down the machine to plug it in and un plug it? I assume unplugging it on the fly doesn't mess things up oer the long term. Sorry kind f use to doing things on a windows where sometimes you have shut down the machine to do things.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am actually trying to decide if to get the old 30" cinema display or not.I'm a graphic designer and my fear is that apple will never make a matte display...Here in Italy it's still sold in the apple store. I have the unibody macbook pro, and so I've been reading through reviews now for a week ... my biggest concern is the dual-link dvi adapter... I still see posts (August or September 2010) with people experiencing issues, even with the firmware 1.3!I wanted to ask you people if I should go for it or dig the 27 inch even though it's glossy... I have a few people in the office (also graphic designers) working on iMacs and got used to the glossy.

I've hooked up my 30" Apple Cinema Display to the new iMac 27" and the highest resolution I'm getting as an option is 1280x800... The iMac correctly detects the ACD as a Cinema HD display but limits my resolution. Why oh why?!
I own 23 and 30" Cinema Displays. I like the 23 because everything is larger and easier to read than in the 30". I mostly work in Logic and love that I see lots of things on the 30" but the 23" is much easier on my eyes.Is there such a thing as a display with 2560x1600 (like the 30" Apple) but that is LARGER than a 30 inch so I can see everything bigger in Logic??? Maybe a 34 or 37"? Did a search but haven't come up with anything other than other 30" displays.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a display to use with my Powerbook G4 12". I am in love with the 30" cinema display, but according to technical support today, my setup is not compatible (supposedly, but the person on the phone didn't sound to sure). I have a mini DVI, but the 30" requires a dual DVI. I think the 23" display requires DVI, which I can attain with an adapter. Does anyone have suggestions for what I can use with my computer? The bigger the better for me. Also what do you think of the older (plastic case) apple displays?
View 1 Replies View RelatedPurchased a brand new 27" i7 imac a few weeks ago, display is awesome!!! I was using my old 28" LCD monitor from my PC and running dual displays on the iMac. The 28" LCD monitor annoyed me a bit because i could not get the same color/crispness/brightness that i got from the iMac. ( also it has a Matt screen and i am more into the glossy screens ) So i found a used 24" cinema display locally. Paid 600.00 and it came with 2 yrs of AppleCare. It is only 7 months old ( still have 5 months under orignal warranty ) Got home, hooked it up and it had a "hint" of yellowness to it, It wasn't a exact image of my iMacs display...I tried to calibrate it also, but it still had just a HINT of yellowness....Nothing at all major, but enough for me to be annoyed with it.

I am thinking of updating my home studio setup which is currently running a Macbook pro 13" 2.26 with 4gb of ram. I was first thinking of upgrading to an iMac with a 3.06Ghz processor and 27" display. However, I now think I might be ok staying with my MacBook and upgrading to one of the two displays;- The 30" Cinema display- Or the 24" Cinema LED displayAt nearly half the price I am leaning towards the 24" display. I am using logic and ableton. What does everyone think and anyone had any experiences running logic and or ableton with a MacBook and display.
