How do stop the applications from popping up on my screen every time I turn on my Mac? It's been happening ever since a upgraded from Leopard to Lion. Or it has to do with Evernote.

Brand new MBP 15, 10.7.2, just got today. Migrated old MBP 13 which was 10.6.8. Now at random, a message asking for permission for incoming connections pops up at random for about 1/2 second. It's so fast I can't click on the allow or deny button. I shot video of the screen so I could actually see a frame. It says to fix it in Firewall, but I don't see anything about postgres listed there. But I don't even know what the heck postgres is. How do I stop this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI rely on a program called SoundOn! to stop the popping sound on my Macbook aluminium while using external speakers. But, I seem to have done something (slash OS X seems to have done something) which means that the application now opens in Script Editor rather than a standalone application. When I go to the Get Info window in Finder to change the default application I cannot simply set it as an application and get a choice between TextEdit, Automator and Script Editor. I don't want any of these. How do I go about resetting this so it will work?
Also, maybe if anyone has a Cocoa application for the same purpose of keep-alive for the sound card I'd be really greatful, as this application was made for 10.0.0-10.2.x and hasn't been updated since 2003.

Mackeeper and oneclickads keep opening when I click on a page anywhere while browsing, even if it is not a hyperlink. How to stop them?
Although when I click on a link, my address bar shows "Pop-up blocked" but it still opens up a new window with Mackeeper or other ads. And then I have to click again on the link for the actual page to open up.
This happens on Safari as well as Chrome browsers.

Most of the time when I turn on the Mac I get the white screen and question mark appear. Sometimes it will turn on and work. But often the coloured spinning wheel starts up especially after trying to use iphoto it freezes and a couple of times the screen has then gone black. The computer seemed pretty warm yesterday when this happened.

Every time I go online to check lottery numbers the facebook login page takes over. I have never used facebook but my daughter has used this computer to do her facebook stuff.
Even when I close Safari and run ccleaner to get rid of everypart of facebook that I can. The sme thing will happen right after I go back to that web site.
I haven't noticed facebook jumping in front of any other site, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't. Can my daughter change anything at facebook to stop this? Can I tell my mac to block facebook?

I hate in Lion how when I restart my computer, all of the applications I had open before reopen. Can I turn that off? It takes start up forever. I've seen how to uncheck "Restore windows when quitting and reopening apps" and I've uncheck that, but it doesn't work for this case. this is my first post here and i hate that it has to be on these terms. however, my mac mini today just out of no where popped up with an error message stating "you must restart your computer...." and so on in several different languages. im not a total noob...so this shouldnt be racking my brain like this. ive read every website and forum relating to this subject, and nothing anyone has to say seems to help. i understand this is a kernel error this message pops up quicker sometimes than others. sometimes it pops up at the blue screen just before my computer prompts me for my password. sometimes, it lets me log into my computer, then the error message will appear. and sometimes it wont even make it to the blue screen, it just gives me a gray screen then the error message. ive tried booting in safe mode and it lets me log in, loads my icons and my desktop, then as soon as i click a single click on the mouse, the message pops back up. ive read some people saying to try reinstalling osx, or to try loading the install disc and repairing some things. i cant get the computer to even seem to boot the disc when i put it in. i am trying to avoid reinstalling osx but if i have to reinstall osx, then i will. i did NOT install anything, upgrade anything, change any system files, change any hardware or anything. i was just downloading a torrent, left my house for a bit, came back and the error message was there. im a graphic designer with work that needs to be done...i can't have a broken computer. does anyone have any clue what to do?

If my time machine is backing up to time capsule and the backup size is big like 100 GB. Can I shutdown and resume after startup maybe next day? Will it verify and backup correctly?

I am using 10.6.8 but I created a Lion partition on the same disk. I am trying out Lion and I do not want Time Machine to back it up. I was able to exclude the Lion volume until I encrypted the Lion partition using Filevault 2. Now when I'm using Snow Leopard, there doesn't seem to be a way of preventing Time Machine from backing up the Lion partition.

I have 3 email accounts that I have added to my Mac Mail. It seems to have chosen my school email account as the default email so every time I send an email, it says it's coming from this school account. I have a primary gmail account that I would like to use as a default. Is there a way to stop this automatic selection every time I compose a message? Even if I select the account I want to use when I compose a new email message, it still sends it out showing the wrong account as the sender.
