Safari :: Can't Delete Some Of My Autofill WebForms In User Names And Passwords
Jun 6, 2012
I am trying to clean up my Safari autofill forms in preferences. I can delete some of them, but not the ones I have no need for, like from an old email. Â They are in the User Names and Passwords section. I have duplicates, and some with old email addresses attached that I would like to clean up.
What I'd like to do is have Safari use AutoFill for my passwords, but not store the passwords in my login keychain. I'd like to have a separate keychain that I can unlock from the menu bar that allows Safari access to passwords that it otherwise would not have. And I'd want it to work seamlessly with the Safari AutoFill. I tried manually adding a password in the Keychain Access Utility, which I don't want to have to do, but even then when I told it to AutoFill (although I'd like it to AutoFill automatically), I had to give Safari permission to access my keychain.
For example, if I went to Facebook, it would present the usual blank password field. But if I unlocked my keychain and then went to Facebook, the password field would already be filled in.
Even more ideally, I'd like it to skip the login page completely (as if "Remember me" had been checked), but I don't think that's possible.
I transferred all my information from my old computer to time machine and now onto my new great iMac. I have user names that I want to delete. How do I do this? Also, is there a way to transfer photos from iphoto in another users name into my user name?
I am having problems deleting old passwords from Safari.I follow the instructions inthe "Help" file to highlight the pld password and click "Done", but nothing happen
I've formatted my Mac synced with me.com and now it remembers just my usernames and not passwords, when I do type in the password it asks me do I want to store it, but it never does. Plus when I go into prefs of safari and try and delete them it wont let me do that either. Is there anyway I can delete all my usernames and passwords and start again?
I've been trying to delete the passwords saved in my auto fill and havr followed the instructions outlined in the Help section but it still won't delete anything. Does anyone have a solution to this? I have even tried resetting Safari.
A friend used my Mac a month ago and his email address often comes up in my FROM: email field. I am the default but I must hit it every once in a while and his email address is selected. When my recipient gets my message it's says it's from HIM. How can I delete his name so it isn't a choice in the FROM: email field? I looked in Mail preferences and his email address is NOT listen next to mine under Preferences>Accounts.
Please not this isn't happening in the TO: field. For that I'd just choose WINDOW>Previous Recipients>Delete.
I have an email address with an error in it and every time I start to enter an address into the "to" field it will autofill. How can I edit this address or delete it altogether? I know I can edit it in the "to" spot but then next time it pops up incorrectly again.
For some reason, I am not able to have my autofill activate when I try to type in addresses, etc. I am using the older version of Yahoo for my email and Safari 3.2.1 as my browser. The other browsers are Flock, Firefox and Netscape seem to work fine. I have tried upgrading to the new AT&T/Yahoo email, which seems to work, but I do not like the format that email client uses.
How do you set up Safari Autofill? It would be a big help if I'd could have my email address and forum user name on AutoFill for signing into forums and signing into ImageShack.
I just upgraded to Leopard (10.5.6) from Tiger, and the one problem I'm having is when I enter, say, the word "Facebook" in the URL bar. In the past, the "www" and ".com" would automatically be added. Now I'm sent to a Verizon search page. Autofill has been and remains checked and activated.
Ever since I updated to 5, my address bar has been autofilling the title of the page I go to, for instance: Say I have been to Zappos and looked at a pair of converse, the title at the top of the window will say something like "Converse shoe etc." Well then say I've looked on [URL] at something before, and I want to go there again. If I start typing "converse" into the address bar, it wants to autfill the "Converse shoe etc." title and take me to the Zappos page instead of [URL] Is there a way to disable this? I liked it the way it was before, If im typing something in the address bar I only want ti to guess urls, not page titles.
I ripped a DVD I have in my collection into my Mac using hardbrake 32 bit. I have 64 bit but supposedly for some reason it needed VLC 64 bit which apparently doesnt exist or something so I downloaded the 32 bit version. when ripping i had 2 choices mpeg4 and encoding .264 or ffemp or whatever it is.. and .mkv and the same choice of encoding. When I try ripping with the mkv the quality comes out rubbish like pixelated boxes and what not totally not watchable. 2 DVDs same thing. so I deleted those and I used the mv4. I dont rem now what option that was but there were only 2 so anyways then it comes out ok. but then when i try to play it. like i do with my downloaded stuff (which i use movist- no problems) i get hiccups stops whatever u call those. i have to close everything i am running i.e transmission etc before it would play smoothly this is kind of weird i even switched it to high performance. also some websites i save the user name password saved but i must have did something and for that particular site it does nott have nor does it ask me to save anymore so how do i get it to prompt me again?
Everytime I go to the address bar and start typing it will give me a list of sites from history/bookmarks to choose from. For example if I type www.e it will come up with every page I've visited beginning with E. Obviously I can clear my history, but how do I stop it displaying sites from my bookmarks? I use my Mac around a lot of people and don't want everyone seeing every other site I've visited.
Autofill in Safari 4 isn't working for me since switching to Snow Leopard. I've checked the autofill settings and access permission to my Address Book.
It keeps autofilling my work info and I want it to use my home info. I don't want to delete anything, but is there anyway to set a default or a level of priority?
I would like to Export or be able to transfer my Auto Filled UserNames and Passwords from Firefox to another MAC i have.Where would i find the Saved Data for all my 1000 Auto Filled Usernames and Passwords.. ??
Just got a new MacBook Pro, wanted to transfer my data from the old (2010) MBP. I've done this dozens of times before, but always manually, via Finder copies from external hard disks, etc. This time I decided to try the Official Method, using Migration Assistant. After numerous tries, I couldn't get Migration Assistant to work between the two MacBook Pros (both running 10.9.3), even with Apple's assistance. So I decided to try it with a MacBook running 10.6.8. It worked (though poorly; Migration Assistance needs some serious repair), which was useful (now I know that Migration Assistant works, and it's not a problem with the cabling I was using, but something in the old MBP).  But now I have two user accounts on my new MacBook Pro, which I don't want, plus the added account has now been made the primary account, with (some) data from the previously primary account moved to it.Â
So I want to delete the new, added, now primary user and return the MBP to its former, pristine state. So I have to go through all the data (fortunately there isn't much; both the new MBP and the MacBook were only recently set up) that's been moved from the original account to the added account, move it back to the original account, then delete the added account (if I can). This was somewhat complicated by the fact that the ~/Library folder is now invisible by default, but I figured that out. However, what I'm wondering now is, when the second, added account was made the primary account, did it assume all attributes of the former primary account, including its number? I know that user accounts in Mac OS have numbers, like 501, 502, etc.
How can I see the numbers of these two accounts? And if the added account is now number 501, when I delete it, how I can I restore the number 501 to the original account? Or perhaps I should just return the new MBP to its factory state, and start over? But I can't, since it didn't come with any Install DVDs (nor indeed, with an optical drive). (I've been out of touch with the Mac world for several years due to illness, am only now learning about the changes since 10.6, which I'd been using until less than a week ago.) I can wipe the MacBook Pro and reinstall 10.9.3, but that might lose some information specific to this computer that came with it.Â
I get this error message when attempting to use AutoFill for signing into online accounts such as Amazon. I know that AutoFill uses information from Address Book to fill out the form - that's why I have a card in Address Book with my name and email address on it - but I'm still getting this error message when attempting to use AutoFill.
What are the little widgety things under our usernames to the left hand side of the message windows? Why are they labelled "Rule '1'" and similar? When did they appear? I'm sure they weren't there last time I logged in...
I purchased App for MacBook. It is alternative to lock screen.Â
I set password etc followed instructions (no need of lecture me) and it has locked me out of my MacBook and the password I set up does not work...Â
Im just wondering if there is a way to delete this App without having to log in as the only other account on my MacBook is Guest. I can't use my Mac at all with this app as it will not allow me to enter my account
I was running my iMac just in admin, which I know is frowned upon but that's the way I had it. I had a corrupt preferences file and I couldn't save any of my passwords etc Finally created a new user and reinstalled everything and it works fine. Had to replace all my passwords for my apps etc but other than that not that big a deal.
Question is can I now delete the other user now that I have a new admin login?:
It is just taking up storage space with a user which is corrupted but I don't want to erase the data in that user and also delete all my data in the new user as well.
I tried to remove a user group from my desktop following the procedures given. I could remove all but one user.
This is the one I want to remove. How can I do this? I have 4 user groups. Why?, when ever I had trouble and called AppleCare they had me install a new user group, which I never removed.
This is driving me insane. I'm a member of quite a few internet forums and I cannot for the life of me remember all of their passwords. Ever since updating OS X and Safari it keeps forgetting my login details for them even though I tell it to remember when I'm given the option! Sometimes it will remember and keep me logged into a forum when I next visit it. But then it seems to forget again after a couple of days. I'm getting rather fed up of this.
I'm in the process of installing a new, 500 GB HDD into the Macbook. The OS is installed onto the new HDD but I haven't actually put the drive into the Macbook. I don't want to just use Migration Assistant to migrate all my user settings over, as there's some wonky stuff going on with my account. Plus, I want to use Safari4 rather than Safari3 which I'm using now, with plugins and addons. I've got all my apps/dmgs backed up, and a current Time Machine backup, but again, don't want to just import everything.
So how do I get my passwords etc migrated over? Can I use Keychain from the old HDD and just copy/paste the relevent files? If so, what files? Basically, I want iTunes settings, all iLife apps, all iWork apps, my backed up dmgs and registrations, my VMware installs (Win XPproSP2 and Vista Ultimate), my firefox logins, my foxmarks install, my documents, my perian settings etc without bringing over the plugins, etc. Will I have to redownload the Blackberry Desktop Manager and Tetherberry into a new VMware? Or will the whole VMware environment migrate over? Sorry if this post seems a little scattered, but it's late where I am and I've just got in from some AWESOME wings'n'beers.
upgraded to Safari 5 and auto fill no longer works, passwords are mostly forgotten. Used Help and there was nothing to help this issue. To go back and try to remember passwords, account numbers etc is horrible and so far I see no advantages to this new version. This is the unintended consequence of a new version of software even with Apple!
