How can I unlock my documents, and the all functioning process of my mac OS 10.9.3. In fact, each time I need to change a file to another location, or if I need to change it's name, I need to insert the password . The message "Finder wants to make changes. Type your password..." appears envy time.Â

in my itunes file in Windows directory, there is a compilations file. this file has albums in it that should not be there, but with other albums by the same bands. i have tried relocating the albums, but then itunes cannot play them, and when i locate the file it is automatically placed in a new compilations folder.
in short i am asking how i can change the location of a file in the itunes library. Any ideas?
I had a goodworking SUS (10.6.8) working but the drive is getting full so i change the location of the files to another disk (in the xserve)and follow instructions from Apple (page 84 from the manual System Imaging) sudo cp -p /private/var/db/swupd/html /Volumes/My_Volume/My_Software_Updates_Folder/This works and i copy the files to a new drive. Finally I can reproduce the freezing of my macbook air. If I change from wifi location for example i go to work from home the following happens:Â the MBA will not fall a sleep resulting in a very hot MBA in my bag.the MBA will fall a sleep but it is not possible to wake it up againthe MBA will fall a sleep and is able to wake up again after opening the lid but now it will freeze the entire mac within 5-10 minutes.Â
I have to push the power button for a long time in either cases.Â
I just did a complete restore so i have no extra software installed.Â
My daughter has a MacBook with OS X 10.4.11. Due to its age & configuration, the OS X can't be updated any further.
Her MacBook is networked through my iMac (OS X 10.6.4) and is setup to print via my printer.
The connection to the printer stopped working, I tried to troubleshoot it, but needed the admin password. She didn't know if she had one so I used the installation disk to change eliminate the need for one. But for some things I'm asked for the keychain password, she doesn't remember if she has one.
According to the keychain help, the keychain password should automatically be the same as the admin or login password. There isn't a login password anymore, and keychain isn't accepting a blank password,so I'm locked out of some functions requiring the keychain.
I created a new keychain, but when online, I get a lot of unverified certificate errors. I try to change them individually to accept them, but I'm asked for the keychain password. If I can access the old keychain, is there a way to copy all of its certificates to the new keychain?
I can't figure out how to change the keychain password for the old keychain as without it, I can't accept certificates even with the new keychain. I'm really stuck.
My iBook died a while back and i fitted a new motherboard but the hard drive was faulty so i put in another hd and the ibook works fine. Except that i cant install Mac for word as i have not got the user password. This is not the master password. How do i get around this? I have another mac with wordmac can i copy that onto a disc from applications and load it?

When I tried to log into iCloud I got a message that for security reasons I needed to reset may pass word. I have tried to do that 3 different times. Each time I get this email:The password for your Apple ID has been successfully reset.If you didn’t make this change or if you believe an unauthorized person has accessed your account, go to iforgot.apple.com to reset your password immediately. Then sign in to My Apple ID to review and update your security settings.
However, when I try to login to iCloud I keep getting the same message that the password has been disabled. I can not figure what is going on as I was able to login to this forum with the new password.

On Windows it's possible to change where the Music, Pictures etc folders are located. I've tried doing this to the folders on my Mac (Music, Pictures etc) and I can't find anything! I've checked on Google.

For some reason when I make a new folder now, I can't change the name. It just stays at Untitled Folder. I right clicked and did "Ownership and permissions" and made sure that the i was able to "read AND write". I am and so are all my groups and other. I didn't click "apply to enclosed items" cus i didn't know what it meant and it said "you can't undo this action"..
I can't even change the names to any folders i currently have. Or files I have as well. Delete doesn't even work...it just stays at whatever name it currently has.
I seem to have a problem with my ethernet port not working after a specific location change...I have three locations I used frequently. Let's call them:Â
1) HomeWireless
2) WorkWireless (used when I'm in meetings)
3) WorkEthernet (used when I'm at my desk)Â
My general practice is to change locations just before putting my MacBook Pro to sleep, and then it is happily ready for the desired network when it is awoken.I'm not sure what this change in behavior coincided with, but as of ~1 month ago, I am finding that going from WorkWireless to WorkEthernet, my ethernet port appears to be completely dead and I have to reboot the computer to reactivate it (yes, I've checked the cable itself and the wall port at they're OK). I've tried a couple ways of disabling & re-enabling it in software, but I don't get the impression anything actually resets this interface - suggestions are welcome as perhaps I just didn't try the right thing. I couldn't find anything quite the same as "networksetup -setairportpower" for the ethernet port.Oddly, this is not an issue with going from HomeWireless to WorkEthernet. Both HomeWirelss and WorkWireless have the ethernet interface deactivated in the Network pref pane, and perhaps the only notable difference between HomeWirelss and WorkWireless is that I use a static IP on the former and dynamic on the latter.

View 1 Replies View RelatedTonight i was working on a report in MS Office 08, and it was all fine and what not until one point i got some error message saying that the disk was full and i couldnt save it and to change the saving location. Anything this is on the main drive where i have ~40gb's left. So i put my USB Drive in to save it on that and it gave me the same error it wouldnt save on anything it just keep saying Disk Full.. Does anyone know what that is? Clearly its some sort of error/bug as i restarted the macbook and downloaded a picture and saved it on my desktop with no problems after the reboot. My problem is as we went to Seymour in Victoria Australia, I type in Seymour and I'm given a dozen USA possibilities but I'm offered a search for my Seymour option. I take this, starting in Sydney and I drag the pointer to Seymour in Victoria (It says Seymour on the map) but in my book it changes the name to Mitchell. It does this for a number of stops. I could probably cope with one but when you go to 50 towns and you're showing off your clever Mac and all people go is I've never heard of Mitchell wheres that and I'm sure you can guess what my answer is, I don't know I've never been there. Particularly when the photo has Seymour Railway station on the photo.

I am wondering if there is a way to apply the info in itunes to change the original file names. So that I don't have to change them all manually on my hard drive if I want them in some sort of order. Something like 'apply itunes info to original filename'. I am pretty sure it isn't possible but thought it might be worth a try.

Pretty new to Apple products. I'm attempting to use an external monitor that is located above and behind my laptop. However, I can't find a way to set Snow Leopard to let me move the mouse from the primary laptop display upward into the auxiliary display.
Currently, I need to roll the mouse off the right edge of the laptop display to reach the left edge of the external display. Very counterintuitive.
I just bought an external HD for my Mac Mini as my media plus downloads were filling up my internal HD. Is the location of the Downloads Folder (and Movies) something that can be configured somewhere? I still want it to show up in my home folder. Is it as easy as deleting the old one and creating an alias for a Downloads folder located on my external HD?

Since the last upgrade I seem to have a problem changing the download location. Safari seems not to accept locations outside the home folder even with the same permissions (drwx------) and no log entries are generated. I've also tried 0777 with no success. Also, I've tried to create links to the external directory but it still defaults back to the home directory. I had some success with Automator - Finder move - but it gives me a 'disk full' error when downloading.
