Firefox has been pissing me off lately, I wanna give Safari a go-around. How can I transfer my favorites. I saved my favorites from Firefox in the normal, .json format, but Safari doesnt not recognize that type of file.

1) I've gone thru almost all the basic tutorials for 1st time Mac user but cannot find anywhere about transfering Explorer favourites to Safari.
2) Maybe seems stupid to ask but yet again not listed in the basic tutorial. Can the normal mouse for windows (left and right click type) use for Mac?

I will be using Time Machine to copy my iTunes and iPhoto to my new iMac (Lion) At this point I can't think of anything else at this time. My current iMac, 6.5 years old has the vertical line, monitor screen problem. Since the Mac is vintage, it's not worth the $$$ to fix. It also has some Kernal problems that I can't seem to trace to any download/program that is not SL compatible. In any event, we like Firefox!!! We like Yahoo!!! We have a lot of saved favorites on Firefox that we want to be able to put on the new iMac. How the heck can we do this? Is there a way to Time Machine a browser/bookmarks?........or any method?

I find when opening Safari that the first screen that appears is the 'favourites' and i find this most irritating. How do I delete it or at least stick it somewhere it doesn't keep appearing and bug me.

I have not installed it on my MBA because of the comments that I read the other day. It seemed like someone also posted Chrome was almost or as bad. There have been some spirited threads on how to keep our Airs running at top efficiency, going both easy on the RAM and on the battery life. The general consensus amongst members is Flash with a Flash filter plugin such as ClickToFlash battery life. If a browser is a memory hog will it also hasten the battery's discharge or just sap your RAM? Or would the user never really notice the difference unless they were tunnel visioned on their system monitor whilst surfing the web?
View 23 Replies View RelatedThe HD crashed about 2 years ago, and since the replacement (TOSHIBA MK6034GSX 60GB) the CPU will go very hot 80+C and the fan going to 6200rpm if visiting some internet pages. Normally a problem if (when) the kids are playing free online games or visiting youtube or similar. Made a screenshot, notice CPU usage around 112%, smartfan showing 70C and 6200rpm. I have taken the mac physically apart and cleaned the cooling duct and applyed new thermal paste. Didn't help. It drives me crazy, I hate noisy computers.

View 12 Replies View RelatedSo often, when I'm working with Firefox or Safari (mostly Firefox), my computer will come seconds away from crashing. It'll pause with the rainbow wheel twirling around, but if I have something like even Skype open or photoshop, I can still work in those. I've had to close Firefox a FEW times, at LEAST, in the last little while because of this.
Why is Firefox acting so WEIRD?! I've even uninstalled it and installed a new version! Why isn't it getting fixed? Is there a better program that won't do this on my brand new laptop with Leopard 10.5 OSX?
I currently own a late 2008 15 inch macbook pro. It's my first Mac, and I'm very satisfied with it.
I recently downloaded Safari 5 and have been less than impressed. I find the performance extremely sporadic: sometimes very fast, sometimes painfully slow. I have also lost Youtube and Justintv functionality, and since I take online courses the video sites are imperative for me.
I've re-loaded Firefox and also Chrome, and over the last three days seem to be leaning towards Chrome for its balance of speed and overall functionality.
It keeps saying missing plug in when I open PDF from internet, what can i do to fix that?

I began to have this same problem on my old MacBook within the last year...but I now have a brand spanking new MacBook Air (as in 1 week old) and it's worse than ever. Â
Extremely often - sometimes 2 out of 3 webpages, it seems - the browzer says it can't find the server or otherwise won't open a page (takes veeeery long to do so. Then eventually gives me a "can't find" screen when I try to click around.). There's nothing wrong w the internet - it works just fine on my husband's computer. Sometimes it helps to switch browzers but mostly not.

So basically when I'm on an article or website ESPECIALLY AMAZON.COM (I use Amazon almost everyday) the annoying blue hyperlinks show up and when I scroll past them the show ads. How do I get rid of them??? Also, on Amazon.com on Firefox mainly, some type of malware changes the layout of Amazon to black and orange and puts boxes around everything!!! (2012 Mac book Air Running latest software)
