Feb 20, 2012Is there an add on available that would allow me to search my Bookmarks by the name I gave the link rather than the url name, etc? I have a huge amount of bookmarks and folders. I can't figure out how to search my bookmarks by the name I gave the bookmark or folder. I use Safari most but also Firefox and Chrome. I use all with xMarks and LastPass so I can use my bookmarks, etc., with all my browsers.

Apr 6, 2010Can someone please give me the specifics on a 3.5 internal hard drive for my iMac G5 (17") running Leopard. My old HD was getting very full so I decided to replace it. I bought a Seagate 3.5 1TB at Staples ("good for PC or Mac"), brought it home, ripped into my iMac, removed the old HD and opened the new Seagate. Turns out it was for tower computers only. Took it back to Staples, where I learned that iMac HDs are Apple specific.
Called the local Apple store. Was told that they didn't carry HDs in stock but I could schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar and someone there could determine what I need. I know what I need -- a new HD --I just don't know where to get one or order it online because descriptions from online suppliers are not generous with the knowledge about what works with what. Never thought it would be so frustrating just to buy a replacement drive.

Dec 15, 2010How do you delete specific search items in your (browser) form history? I don't mean a blanket "clear all", I just want to delete my typos. In Windows, you just need to scroll down to it and hit "delete". Doing that on Mac only erases a character from your search.

Apr 21, 2012I've read some threads but none truly answer my question. I have learnt I need to create a rule in CLOUD as mail is sent to all devices from there and if I create the rule in MAIL on my desktop it does not solve the issue as it will still get sent to other devices, correct?Â
I want to create a rule for junk. Ever changing junk email addresses, content etc. Sometime mail recognies it and sometimes not. How can I set up a rule, filter, etc to delete these permamnently . Its hard when the sender address is ever changing, or the content is never the same. IE one day it is from weatherx@
next time w3ath3rx@, next vveatherx@..it is so annoying. Or the content like I saw this morning every single word had a 20 in front of it...

Feb 29, 2012Just moved to new iMac with OS Lion. The Mail function used to search the body of the email, but now it does not (apparently).[url]More importantly, the search function is not looking at my old emails in separate folders. And apparently it is not looking at emails not received by the new computer either. Thus I have no historic email search function, which is annoying.How can I force Mail to look at and search all the other old email folders?

Apr 19, 2012The search feature in Lion/Mail will not find names or words in the "Subject" category even when I know they exists. I use mail for my business and often need to find old emails from clients..... the new search feature in Lion does not work. How can Apple release a product with such a obvious flaw?  Â
Other problems with mail..... • When I open mail no new mail will appear in my "in box" until I select another mail box like "trash" or "Sent".... then the new mail will appear. • The "Hide Mail" feature is greyed out when mail is open.... there's no way to hide mail. • The scroll down bar on the right side of the window is hidden until you drag the edge of the frame over to reveal it. • Windows are locked and can't be moved. I've been using Apple products from the earliest days in the 1980's and quite frankly have been shocked at some of the things Apple is screwing up these days. From the Final Cut Pro conversion to Final Cut X disaster that has sent thousands of professional editors running to other products, to these seemingly small but irritating flaws with the new software being released before these problems have been addressed. A search feature that does not work?Â

Dec 5, 2014Suddenly the iMessage app is only displaying my own sent messages for a single, specific contact. All other conversations include both sent and received iMessages. I had blocked this contact previously for a period of time on my phone but do not remember doing anything similar on my Mac. if it's related to the contact previously having been blocked on my iPhone?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Images Do Not Appear In Mail Messages?
Mar 25, 2012After the recent combined update to OS 10.7.3 MAIL does not show images as part of received messages. Instead the messages are littered with square boxes with question marks inside them. This only happens on my MacBook Pro 2.93GHz Intel Core Duo with 4GB ram and not on my iMac running the same system.
I have tried junking preferences etc but no change. I have also made sure that the "Display remote images in HTML messages" is checked in MAIL preferences.

I've set up my mail account on the mac, but whenever i try to delete a message off it then if i log onto my mail account through the internet the message is still there, same if i re-open my mail app on my mac.Â

Apr 2, 2012After deleting a message the already read message above becomes selected instead of the unread message below. How do I change this? I have changed the sort by field to assending and decending. I looked at my husbands mail and it does not do this. I do not see any preference options to fix it.To recap, I want to start at the top of my new messages and if I want to keep a message I will go to the next unread one and delete that one without the one I want to keep becomeing the targeted message

Apr 23, 2012Mail is suddenly not displaying certain messages in mailboxes. I can see and select the message in the center pane, but when I click on it to display, I get the "Loading" text and the spinner. This continues without resolution, though sometimes the messages will display after quitting Mail and/or rebuilding the Mailbox.Â
It is not random messages that do this, but always the same ones that refuse to display. But they will display sometimes after a rebuild, so I know they aren't gone. Some have image attachtments, others do not.Â
This just started this morning, following running Disk Utility to repair some HD corruption last night. Prior to that, Mail (and Safari) had been running very slowly for about three weeks. I have already repaired permissions on this drive.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Search Entire Message Not Working In Mail, But Spotlight Works
Apr 3, 2012I am having a problem where my mail App is not searching the entire body of the message any more. I installed Lion soon after it was released, and I believe that it has been working up until recently.Â
If I do a search, it won't search the message body, and gives me no option to search for "Message contains" (just "People" and "Subjects"). If search for subject "foo" and then click on the "Subject" pull down menu, it shows "Subject" and "Entire Message", but "Entire Message" is greyed out.Â
I've done a lot of web searching and most people with similar problems had problems with Spotlight. If I do a Spotlight search, it does find all of the mail messages correctly. Its just the Mail app that won't let me search.Â
I haven't tried re-indexing spotlight yet because spotlight seems to be working okay. Note that all of my mail accounts are "POP" accounts with the mail stored locally on my machine.Â

Mar 7, 2012I have set up my email account in Entourage and in Mac Mail. It is a Rackspace email account. I can retrieve messages from my email account in both programs. When I read a message in Mac Mail, it immediately disappears after I close the message. The messages remain in my Entourage inbox. In other words, after they are read, POOF! it's as if they never existed in Mac Mail. Â
Is there a setting I am missing? why this would happen in Mac Mail but not Entourage?Â

Apr 6, 2012I would like to know if there is any possibility(plug-ins included) to show only the header of a message until I click on it to expand it.Because if I have a grouped conversation of 10+messages, I don't really want to scroll down until I find the one that I'm looking for, having messages show only headers (or just sender -> receiver) would be MUCH easier to search through. Yes, I know I can make mail not group messages, but that's not the point, I like them grouped, I just want them to appear like in sparrow, for example(pic below).

May 1, 2012I want to only receive new email either once per hour or better still manually (once or twice during the day at a time chosen by me). That way I won't be bombarded with emails all day and can get on with my work.Â
So, I set the 'check for new messages' to 'manually'. Nevertheless I get email coming in frequently. Possibly every time I send an email, it also checks for new incoming mail (I'm not sure but that's my hunch).Â
How can I stop Mail from pulling in my new incoming email? Any answers to this? If I can't figure this out or it's not possible in Apple Mail, it might be time to switch (but I don't want to!)Â

Jun 3, 2012i'm writing because i don't know if that's me becoming paranoid or thats a normal mail feature. I rarely check my sent mail but today i did that and i noticed that almost any sent message i check, it loads it for about 10 seconds. I select a message and on the right there is written: Loading... and if i check the mail activity, it says Downloading message. That happens with almost every sent message i have in the sent folder. I have a fast internet connection and it loads just in 1 sec from gmail online mail. So why the ****Â mail.app downloads it for 10 seconds? And they are only text messages. And the strange thing that after i read the message and back to inbox, than go again into sent folder and select the same sent message, it loads again. Shouldn't they be on my HD?
