OS X V10.7 Lion :: Ps3 Bluetooth Controller Passcode Issue
Feb 14, 2012
Pairing a ps3 controller to lion requires a passcode... In SL no passcode was required... it paired by using the USB cable. How can i get this functionality back? Must be some defaults i can write to disable the nazis apple put into lion to control bluetooth pairing.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.6), 27" i7 with 16g memory
It looks like individual files can be protected with a password or passcode. However, I wanted to know if there's a way to protect an entire folder with a password or passcode. Thus, one would not be able to access any files within that folder without the password (or passcode). Is that possible?

I've bought several controllers from game stop and none of them seem to work on my iMac, I have a couple first person shooters including duke nuke em' but I'm hesitant towards buying more because of the controller issue, the Xbox 360 controller doesn't work either what is the best option?
I am trying to transfer my information from my dell pc onto my macbook pro. My mac locates my pc and says "You need to verify that this passscode is displayed." However, while running migration assistant on my pc, my pc is stuck on "waiting for your mac to connect."
Mac and only my mouse responds, I can not type anything and the keyboard gives me 2 green flashes every 3 seconds. I restart and reset PRAM and hope its fixed. thanks to auto login I am on my desktop but still can not type anything and getting 2 green flashes, I remove the keyboard from BT list and try setting it up again, now I it starts asking me for the passcode. My iMac came with the wireless keyboard so I have no idea what the passcode is, and I get pop-up after pop-up asking me for the passcode. Is there anyway to reset the keyboard itself or enter in a generic passcode?
I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard that I want to share between a PC and MBP via a DVI/USB KVM switch. I think I can do this by plugging a USB Bluetooth dongle into the KVM's USB input.
If I use the MBP's built-in bluetooth then when I switch from one computer to the other via the KVM, the keyboard and mouse will stay paired with the MBP; but if I disable the built-in hardware then the dongle can provide the bluetooth capability and be switched between the computers.
I've shied away from wireless keyboards in the past because I do alot of online baking and investment activities from my computer. I also love a clean workspace and a wireless keyboard could remove yet another wire from my desk. Do you consider wireless and/or bluetooth keyboards safe?
I turned off the bluetooth function and my keyboard and mouse wont now work and I cant get back into the system - how do I reactivate without the use of the keyboard ?
This isn't directly related to macbooks but if I want to use the bluetooth built into my computer to connect to my non bluetooth printer can I buy any USB bluetooth dongle to plug into the printer ( Kodak all in one 5300) or do I need some specific kind? All the ones I look at don't mention anything about printers just connection between computers and phones.
Immediately after the update to 10.7.3 on my MacBook Pro, Bluetooth went crazy. Devices are listed as connected but they don't work. I can't even turn Bluetooth off or on. I use the menu, nothing happens. I safe-booted, then rebooted, and the whole boot process looked crazy. Very very slow, menu bar slow in appearing, portions of it never appeared (the WiFi icon). Blue tooth still not working. So I deleted all devices from the Bluetooth control panel and tried to re-connect, but nothing works.
after updating to 10.7.3. Bluetooth does not work anymore at my system (mid 2011 iMac). Batteries are new in both Apple Magic Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard.
I have installed the combo update, deleted bluetooth.plist file, cleared pram, deinstalled the bt mouse and keyboard, disabled Wifi and bluetooth, rebooted the computer, switch off any other devices in the flat (airport, phones) ...
But the apple bt mouse and the apple bt keybord does not work correctly. The mouse is not moving, or moves very slow and with dropouts. The keyboard is loosing connection quite often and if connected it types double letters with very slow response.Â

I have installed Lion few days ago, every thing are OK, except on thing, the bluetooth not working, the icon appears normally in the status bar but when i search or setup bluetooth device it found nothing
I am having the same lion/bluetooth problems that many others are. I have downloaded and installed Xcode with the intention of using Bluetooth Explorer. Xcode is installed. Explorer does not show when I option-click on the bluetooth icon. What am I missing?
I want to be able to connect an old Bluetooth device that does not support files or file browsing, just plain upload or download streams (mostly ASCII text). On the PC there is a data capture program which receives the ASCII on a COM port via Bluetooth, but I seem to be stumbling to get this to work in VMWare because it shares the Bluetooth with my iMac, VMWare and Mac OS X both say that it is connected but the device doesn't agree (I have confirmed it does work on a real PC in the same edition of Windows), I am looking for a Mac OS X program to do the ASCII capture instead
The program should be fairly simple - just capture a stream of ASCII data to a text window or file. All that I can find on Mac OS X is file upload or download, but that is not supported by this device.Â
One thought - could it be that it is the iMac Bluetooth that is not supporting the device? It works fine with a Belkin USB Bluetooth dongle on a PC, but I don't know if that provides the same services as the iMac Bluetooth.Â
EDIT: Plugging in the Belkin USB Bluetooth dongle to the iMac just chucks everything off Bluetooth, so that's keyboard and mouse / trackpad, which makes the iMac unusable. Unplugging the dongle makes them reconnect. Can't say that I'm particularly impressed by this - why can't Mac OS handle two separate Bluetooth hosts?
The bluetooth audio only gets connected when the music starts to play (I think it makes sense). But it gets disconnected just after the music stops (maybe when I'm changing the song I want to hear) and it's annoying. Worst, most of the times when it connects back, the sound only lasts one second and then it get silent. ITunes shows that the song is being played, but nothing sounds.Â
Hey guys..>I'm trying to set up my jabra bt200 bluetooth headset to work with my mac (osx 10.4.2, 15" powerbook 1.67ghz)...and I can get it to pair, but it won't stay connected for more than a split second. this is a problem i've seen a few people have, looking around on various forums and stuff, and i was trying various solutions when i decided to try doing a firmware upgrade on the internal bluetooth module. I downloaded the firmware updater (1.2), tried to run it and it came up with the following error:
"This computer does not have an Apple Bluetooth module installed. It cannot be updated by this application."
Why would my Powerbook not have an Apple Bluetooth module?!?!?! It's got bluetooth installed, it's internal, but looking at the system profile, it says it's the manufacturer is Cambridge Silicon Radio. So is this normal or what? Is the firmware upgrade even going to help me out in the end? Just to clarify...the powerbook came with bt installed factory...it's not something added by me!
I've had problems related to both WiFi and Bluetooth ever since going Lion. However, after updating to 10.7.3 (the large update) from 10.7.2 the WiFi always drops whenever I switch my Bluetooth audio on. It resumes after disabling the bluetooth audio. Please note that Bluetooth is always on in both cases, I just switch the audio output. Tried resetting SMC and PRAM - didn't work Â

I lock the screen & sleep the system when I go out (Sys prefs > Security & privacy > require password immediately after sleep or screen saver) -- get back and click to wake .. From that moment the keyboard (and sometimes the mouse too) responds very very slowly - takes about 30 secs even to enter my password to login. What happens next varies. Sometimes the keyboard recovers in a matter of seconds and returns to normal function. Other times it actually gets worse and might even get to the point where I can't even select menu items with the mouse. In the latter case restarting the system fixes it.

I am having fun with my iMac (late 2011 + 10.7.3) aspecially with software bugs. One of them is following:Volume controll keys on my wireless keyboard do not controll sound. Doesn,t matter which one I press I do see the icons on the display but there is no effect on volume level. The sound "speaker icon" on the system bar is inactive and when I press it I see that slider is frozen at the very bottom and can't be moved.Switch your iMac off.Remove batteries from the wireless keyboard.Switch your Mac on.Sound is back, and after placing batteries back in your keyboard you can see also that sound keys are working again. Unfortunatelly you have to make this operation each time when you switching your iMac off.
